The level of charging current you see is dependent on the SOC ( State Of Charge) of the battery. The more depleted the battery is the HIGHER the charging current will be.

To achieve the maximum charge, you have to totally drain the battery ( that is use it till it goes off), then try charging back and see if it will hit the maximum rated charging current which is 20A for your set up.

Gracias

Gracias Papi, I totally agree with you, don't mind me, I was trying to compare it to another charger I have "sterling power ultra charger" it's 24v 30amp and it maintains a straight 30amp till it goes into float, then it begins to trickle charge; it is only at this stage that the amperage begins to drop.

Oh well it's 2 different technology based on the same premise, so it'll definitely not be the same. Once again thanks boss, ur post was insightful I do appreciate

I ve separated the smart charger from the UPS, the battery is charging now, still observing how well the battery will charge as I ve not really charged the battery since I bought it. Keeping my fingers crossed.

So sorry about the loss of your setup. God will surely replenish it.
Leopantro:

Sorry I was busy then.
It shows green when the batteries are fully charged. If left for a few days and the charger is reconnected, the light will turn red for a few minutes then turn green again. In my case I had to charge the batteries while the UPS was disconnected from the batteries for it to work properly. When fully charged I reconnect the wires to use it. The problem was from the UPS.

Sadly, I don't use it any more, my setup got burnt from an electrical surge. Also burnt my two generators close to it.

Please it's also important that we enlighten ourselves on safety hazards as regards to this set up to prevent shocks and accidents like fire.
First I planned to keep my setup near my fuel generator place, but I ve changed my mind.

Still try that and see if it hits 20A or close to it.

Also if you have a good clamp meter use it instead as I don't believe most displays grin

Safety is paramount. Inverters, UPS etc should be kept at ventilated area of the house.

Also using correct cabling/connection is very important

U are right my brother, the kind of wires used can Cause burns and fire, I have always told those doing it them selves to buy same thickness of wire used on the smart charger "red and black" I think its 2.5mm, if u buy any wires lower or that are not strong enough, it will burn out, and always remember to separate the two wire, sometimes they get hot, so separate them after installation.
No even try keep am near kerosene talk less of fuel, those of u puting ur smart chargers ontop of the inverter battery should be careful, the casing of that battery charger is metal, make e no take mistake go touch the battery terminal together

Connecting a huge battery eg 200ah with a smaller battery In parallel is not advisable and could cause fire , only batteries of near the same Ah are to be connected in parallel

I read about it too but its working for me

18ah (2)
40ah (3)
100ah (1)
All in parallel, I think using a 2.5mm or 3mm wire (wires that won't melt when hot)will make it work like mine and a smart charger that won't over charge, my charger sees all as one big battery,
I believe connecting different amp in series is more dangerous

Some people would ask , a 24v inverter or a 12v Inverter , which one powers home apliances longer. When provided with the same. Amount of battery, the truth is that they both have the same runtime ,
Eg. A 24v. Inverter/ups has it battery in series 2 x 200ah in series is equal to 200ah 24volts
Total power stored =24x200 =4.8kvah
A 12v inverter/ups has its battery in parallel
2 x200ah in parallel is equal to 400ah 12volts
Total power stored =12x400=4.8kvah
So they both have the same runtime

Oga Ceejay and fellow contributors, thanks for the enlightenment. I actually read this thread twice today and wished i had seen it earlier before i bought one setup which i am currently regretting.
Not long ago i bought a power kit (200w solar panel +1000w inverter and 400ah powerbank). I was told it would power my fans, lights, charge fones for 8hrs +. Unfortunately, i have not been able to hit 3hrs with only fan(70w) on. My total load is 8x5w bulbs of which max 3 is ON at a time, and 2x70w fans of which if i dare ON any of the fan, in 3 hrs the battery is drained. Well i decidsd to manage and today, when i connected inverter to battery, it sparked and got burnt. Long story short, i stubled on this thread and i want to give the deep cycles battery a try.

So please i need help on how to connect the solar panel to a deep cycle. This panel i have has a single long wire that connects to charge the powerbank. I would appreciate if anyone can link me with anybody that has good used 100ah battery so i can give this set up a trial.

Thanka for anticipated responses

Fairly used but working 200ah deep cycle batteries (luminousc etc ) are available for sell @ 30k each. Tested and working, good for this ceejay's brilliant initiative. Call:- 07081516945 , 08109946200

Each of the ceiling fans has a power wattage of 45 watts each making 90watts, the TV will be like 100watts and the bulbs, decoder, laptop and phones will consume a total wattage of almost 100watts. That total load on a 100ah battery will definitely not take u more than 5hours; that's if it takes u that far. My opinion sha.

i dont think these things do well with inductive loads (generally appliances with electric motors)

Nope, only 200ah. location:- Lagos. use for a week and return if not ok for a fairly used cadre. But av tested them before deciding to sell them. If you want to use fairly used battery for your inverter setup, it is better you go for 200ah. A 30- 40% depreciation on a used 200ah is still better than a new 100ah.

Hello everyone, pls I just got this 200ah fullriver battery from the guy at oshodi with the 30amps smart charger from mushin. But after charging this battery for 2 and half hours, the charger indicated that it is fully charged. I then loaded it with my led 32" TV with 1.3amps (I don't know the power rating), a DVD player and a laptop. To my surprise, the battery went off before 2hrs. Exactly 1hr 45 mins.
I'm thinking of returning this battery. But I think I should seek the opinion of professionals in the house before taking any action. Please I need an advise.
Thank you.

Reduce the brightness, contrast and backlight of the TV,
Charge full again and try loading without the laptop or reduce the brightness of laptop and try loading the laptop alone

Thanks. The laptop back light is low already because it affects my the eyes. But I will try to do that of the TV today when I get home. But I think with 200ah, d load on it should be able to last at least 6hrs. If I even reduce the backlight of the TV, there will only be a little time difference, maybe like 30mins extra. I don't think it can go more than that. However, I will do as you said and give feedback. Thanks

D battery is a last grade. Mine can give you more hours. If you cannot get 4 hours plus on a used battery, then it is not a good deal.

Now do you mean 40Ah or 400Ah if its 40 you are lucky with the 3hrs
but if its 400 two question 1) do you know if your inverter comes with a charger option? 2) Is your solar panel the only charging source for the battery?

A 200W solar panel at 12v will only produce maximum charging current of about 17Ah at its peak...therefore your battery will never be fully charged unless you leave it used for days

You have an optimization problem

I noticed that my setup does same, when I plug in my TV and laptop at same time, the ups starts beeping , don't know if it a sign of overloading but when i removed the TV power cable or laptop cable from my ups,it stabilizes ,I don't think its a battery problem but try my own suggestion sha

it means you've exceeded the power quota it can support at a time.

I have 2 ups. One does that but the battery lasts longer with it. the other uses the battery to the last but can take any load together.

Its a powerbank rated at 400ah. The seller told me the battery has a panel worked on it that acts like a charge controller of some sorts. The inverter does not charge the battery, i use only the solar panel and it gets the battery to 13.5 (14 is full i was told) in a day with good sunlight.

from personal experience, the best way to know the capacity of ur battery is to test it with 100 or 200 watts bulb to how long it will last.

Before deciding to choose or test any batteries, I look at brand name if crested or engraved and I also use my hand instead of a plumb to check if there's is contour on the side of the batteries. I learn all these after I fall victim.

I did as you said by reducing the backlight of the TV but the time difference is slightly noticeable. I have called the seller, he said I should come and exchange it. But the problem now is that, there no assurance that the one he will use to replace it will not be the same thing.

My guy, have u tried it on another ups ?
I have 3 ups, one has a digital display, showing me the amount of battery I have used and that's why I like it but my problem with is is anytime I connect with my battery and put on my 26inch I was using then, it doesn't last one hour and it trips off but when I connect to the other 650va blue gate ups ,it goes for hours, so be sure before u take it back, u know how heavy these batteries are and the stress.
Sometimes the things dey very hard to study, I almost returned the 40ah I bought from him, I never knew it was the local made charger that I bought that was killing the battery, until I bought a smart charger at mushin, my mind come settle, so ...my brother if u can get another ups from a friend ,any ups, and test again, if its still same, then u return the battery to him
(hope the cable wire connected from the ups **red & black** to ur 12v battery is not very long...)
