Just reading this article brings a free memory of the biafras story that was told by my grandmother. Children were abandoned by their parents, just to run for safety of their own lives.. Yong men were forced to join the military out of their wish.. Great agony was upon the land. Dead bodies every corner of the village. Hunger and sickness took over the people. Her brother lost one of his sight as a result of been force to join the military. #no to biafra#no war again.. # one Nigeria |

jessyglow:My father who was a Biafran Soldier told me his experiences in the battle front. Some of his stories are chilling. My mother has told me stories of running in the bush with other women as they were bombed indiscriminately by aircrafts. But the biggest tragedy of the war is that the lesson it should have taught us is what we are yet to learn, that nobody should force another to be with each other. Instead of fighting and killing each other, a simple referendum should be held and let people decide their fate. Even the Efik/Ibibio man will be able to decide what he wants. As an Igbo man, I will never fight to be in 'one Nigeria' with a Hausa or Yoruba man. Infact, if these people tell me they going to form Arewa or Odua Republics, I will even contribute money for them to go. But if I said the same for myself, every body will start shouting war. So something is wrong somewhere. War is always because someone is saying they want to go and another is saying they will not go, which brings about a fight. No 'enforced union' is ever a peaceful one. That's the way the Cookie crumbles. |
