racist? why do we always use that word anytime something isnt working as planned? i do understand your frustration but the rules are clear as per the transcript. your transcript is about the most important document for your application hence why the delivery must be 100% accurate. i think you should take your frustration out on those that sent the transcript and not UAF. i applied 2 years ago, my sister applied last year and my friend is applying this year and we didn't have any issue about the transcript. the courier messed u up, not UAF

hakeembee:
Those UAF guys are demons, imagine someone's school sent Transcript, they gave it to a currier service who enviloped it, at the end when it got to UAF the guys said it was not submitted according to country specific requirement. This is because the currier service enviloped it with a regular brown envilope. When they were told that the envilope was used by the post office to protect the document, they refused to accept. When asked why they did not mail or call the school to confirm the authenticity of the document they said they dont have the resources to do so. Daft people, after collecting €100. They are racist.

When you say the courier service messed up, not sure abt that. I mean as far as I know most wrap parcels in their own envelopes either brown or white. Am not sure any school has their own personal courier service so I think the least UAF can do is look inside the envelope and check if it is tampered with unless they think most ppl have their school stamps and seals.

They don't have the resources for carrying out investigation. They do the review of transcripts mechanically in accordance to the laid down rules. I had the same issue last year and it messed up one of my application.

so is it d applicant's fault they are under staffed? or the school for using a courier service? I tink d process needs to be refined, esp since they receive lots of applications. People spend a lot of money to get these applications sent to them only to be disqualified for reasons that a simple check can rectify. Hopefully it will get better.

no sch has personal courier service but im sure there are guidelines to sending your transcript which the courier services know and any mistake affects the authenticity of the post and sadly, UAF wont verify what they think has been tampered with

Sista... I have no affiliation to UAF, as I mentioned they jeopardised one of my applications last year. If you can't stand UAF wahala ensure you apply to schools that do not make use of their services such as TUT and Aalto.

i got a surprising mail from university of helsinki stating the reason why my application was rejected, and strangely nothing was said about the 2 set of transcript rejected by uaf, and that i was disqualified solely based on the fact that i didn't meet the language requirement though they gave me an option to appeal i don't know if it would be necessary to make the appeal
note: their Minimum requirement: overall score 62, with a minimum score of 54 in each communicative skills section listening, reading, speaking and writing
my overall score was 63 i only did not meet the minimum score for the speaking part.
suggestion from the house would be appreciated

You just stated the reason... you didn't meet the minimum score for speaking.... I think you should have done IELTS, it is difficult to score above 50 in PTE speaking subsection... I had an overall score of 73 but I could only manage 47 I speaking when I took the PTE test. I don't think there is anything you can do. Hope u applied to other schools.

yea i applied to other schools, but uaf rejected all my transcript on two the occasion it was sent to them, my question is why did the university of Helsinki disqualify me solely based on the language test score and not based on the rejected transcript by uaf. what it neccesarily implies is that although uaf rejected the transcript university of Helsinki accepted it wouldn't that be in itself a contradiction?

Hello everyone,

I need your candid opinion on a burning issue which has been troubling me for some time now. I am really ashamed and remorseful of my actions, it was just the situation I found myself. I was once a footballer and once had an opportunity to travel to Europe for my footballing career but this did not work out as planned. I got a passport for this purpose where I did not use my real age, as advised by my coach and agent. I later dropped football and went back to school. Now I am done with my first degree and I intend going abroad for my masters degree. The old passport with my false age expired and I proceeded to the NIS office where I met an Immigration officer who assisted me and got me another passport after I did the Biometrics. I actually paid him 100k for this. I really don't know if it was renewal or re-issue he did but this new passport has my real age and name which tally with my academic documents. The new passport has the old and new passport numbers written on it its data page. Now my question is, with the old number available on the passport, will the embassy verify and compare the information on the new and old passports?

Thanks for your useful contributions.

The same happened to me bro. I scored a total score of 60 in the PTE with Listening=55,Reading=63,Speaking=52,Writing=62 and I received a rejection letter from Helsinki to the effect that my Language proficiency didn't meet their standard so I guess they just dot every I and cross every T to make admission decision. That your score on speaking is enough excuse for them to reject your application. Lets expect admit letter from other schools applied.

Congrats to have scaled through the UAF!
The next phase is the University in question. If you are applying for MSc with HND, it is very difficult/impossible in some departments(dont't know of IT). People with bachelors degrees from University of Applied Sciences in Finland find it difficult to get into MSc program with their degree. However, if the international course coordinator says the degree can be used for MSc, it is cool.

All The Best!

If they stated it, no need to appeal. Unless you can mail them, to ask if you could send an IELTS score... If they agree.. Just book for next IELTS exam, anywhere.

Truth be told... Any falsification noticed will dent your image in a negative way. If you were aware of this and can give the immigration officer that amount for a passport, you would have got yourself a new passport, rather than renewal or re-anything. The officer should have known better anyway.
But all the same, get admission 1st and other things will follow.
Good luck!

The truth is even when UAF rejects your transcript, the possibility of getting admission is very high. As high as 95%. I have 2 guys in my class, UAF rejects their transcript saying it did not meet the country specific requirement for sending transcript. The guys totally gave up about the admission process, but were later surprised to get admission letter from the school. From what i know whether valid or not, UAF will still send all documents to the school in question. The decision as to who to accept or reject solely lies with the university and not UAF. So if your transcript got rejected, keep hope alive!
