Many Nigerians did not find it funny when they a picture of a man paying obeisance to Lara Oshiomole surfaced online.According to an Esan by birth reader who sent the photo and reactions to me,it is a shameless act.He wrote.....

'It is obvious that we have some people with tumors in their brains,thereby making their brains function anticlockwisely.I am an African man and an Esan man by birth. If this shameless, useless and poverty sticking man were to be my father (God forbids) I will stone him to death

Everything is wrong about it, if she's a Yoruba lady, she would av knelt down immediately cos its like a taboo. I won't allow this even if I'm the first lady of Nigeria

There is nothing wrong in the man's action. He is not bowing down to Lara per say but the office she represents which is the first lady of Edo state. Lara will attract similar respect as the governor because she is closer to oshiomole than any consitutional rank in the government house. Obasanjo and Fayose recently bowee down to a 41 years old Ooni of Ife. Such gestures means they bow down to the institution Ooni represents

It is against our tradition to bow to someone younger than us talkless of a woman.

That your tradition says you should not bow for a lady does not mean everybody has to follow it. someone like you may be prostrating for your wife at home or your boss wife could have humiliated you.

The man respected the Office of the wife of the Governor and he also respected the Governor through the wife. was it not Dame patience who was appointing and removing political office holders during her tenure whereby so many people benefited from her. can she wield the same power now.

Reminder: was it not the same tradition (Esan) that forbid your women to be carried back to their homes/village when they die?. why was Stella's remains not carried back to your land?.

He is respecting Oshiomhole the husband who she represent, not the woman per se but since she is a wife of a Gov'r, she deserve it.

this is wrong, he should not have bowed to her. I can't blame the lady, she knows little to nothing about our culture, but the man.
when I was in service, anytime am in uniform, I don't bow to greet private citizens, sometimes, I even salute and walk away.

rep what? have you seen anyone prostrate for a king staff of office?
He should have just greeted her with handshake and move on, am sure he might not even bow in such manner for oshiomole himself, so why do so for the wife who is more of her daughter.
