I believe 4-3-3 is the best formation for this game against Egypt,in order to accommodate most of the inform stars. Onazi,Mikel,Iwobi on the midfield while Ighalo lead the attack with Musa and any of the two Moses', we unleash one moses on each half. Iheanacho should come in as a super sub in the second half. The 4 most inform defenders should make up the back 4. The formation can be switched from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2. Likely line up. 1-IKEME 2-CHUBZOR OKONKWOR 3-UWA 4-ONAZI 5-EFE 6-OBOBONA 7-MUSA 8-IWOBI 9-IGHALO 10-MIKEL 11-MOSES Subs- IHEANACHO MOSES |

Kudos to you folks for keeping the thread alive! I'm definitely sure that Siasia is presently confused on who and who to make the starting line-up 4 d game against the pharaohs of egypt come friday evening. Following the news comin from d eagles' camp. The players are in high spirit and hopefully we should be able to have a decent game... A win in kaduna and a draw in cairo won't be a bad game though. |

Carl Ikeme (GK) Shehu Abdullahi Elderson Echiejile Godfrey Obaboana Efe Ambrose Azubuike Okechukwu Mikel Obi Ahmed Musa Moses Simon Victor Moses Odion Ighalo Likely side, According to owngoalnigeria.com Good side. We definitely need more center back options, if Efe or Oboabana get hurt, what happens? |

we HV to be at our very best in order to beat dis Egyptian team. the defence is d weak link especially with d injury to Kenneth and balogun. d game will actually be won at d midfield and Mikel has a very big role to play in it because it is going to be a battle between Mikel and elneny. also whoever DAT is going to be in d fullback position facing salah most HV to watch out and reduce d way he overlaps because salah is extremely quick and will be running at our defence throughout d game. our midfield is looking bright for once wit d inclusion of iwobi and ihenacho, I think any of dem can fill d role of d playmaker and Mikel can finally withdraw to d defensive midfield position. our attack also shows promise with ighalo, musa adi and ko we are not short of fire power. d problem would be like I said earlier is how Mikel wins his battle with elneny in d midfield and deliver balls to d attack quickly and also our defence curtailing d likes f salah. if we can do DAT den we would win d match. |

tbaba1234:Infact this is the most likely starting line -up. Let me set this up in a 4-4-2 formation: .........Ikeme Abdullahi..Ambrose..Obaobona..Echiejile ............Mikel ...................Azubuike Simon.................................Moses ...........Musa ........................Ighalo On worries abt CB getting injured we already have 2 injured. A couple of other defenders are on the bench. Going back to "he should have invited Awaziem or Ehizubie" is now a postmortem |

Napoleon55:Starting with a 4-3-3 in a game of this magnitude is a no-no for me. 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 would be ideal and safer. |

Icon4s:Nice formation .i think I will go with this line up .i will keep simon if possible through out 90mins cos of his ability to score set pieces . |
| Re: Super Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: 2017 AFCON Qualifiers. by Icon4s(m): 11:03am On Mar 24, 2016 |
lexyman:Yes. We need to maximize the full potentials of our forwards. Throwing all of 4 of Simon, Moses, Musa and Ighalo from the start of the game is like hitting the ground running. Musa's ability behind a main striker was highlighted in the game between Nigeria and Argentina at the 2014 WC. He also plays that position at CSKA. Notice I played Azubuike in front of Mikel bc of Mikel's defensive abilities. He could provide shield for our "weakened" CB positions. In the return fixture Onazi would play DMF while Mikel goes to CM position. |
| Re: Super Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: 2017 AFCON Qualifiers. by lexyman(m): 11:15am On Mar 24, 2016 |
Icon4s:I m not too conversant with azuibuike's ability in the role , I hope he's mobile like Onazi , any time I see a Onazi play I remember Micheal Essien of Ghana . . But d attacking style we will play tomorrow will really help our defense line . |
| Re: Super Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: 2017 AFCON Qualifiers. by Napoleon55(m): 11:55am On Mar 24, 2016 |
Icon4s:Well,I'm comfortable with 4-4-2 but some of the inform players like Iwobi won't start. |

lexyman:The Azubuike Okechukwu that I know from the CAF U23 Tourney is a very skillful and mobile midfielder. In addition he is a bossy and highly influential kind of player. |

The key word for this match should be composure. The Egyptians will come to frustrate us so it will be up to our boys to keep their heads and not make silly mistakes. Also i don't think it will stay so hot in Kaduna, probably around 5:30 to 6 o'clock the sun should go down. I believe we can win but our boys have to take things slow and impose themselves on the match. |

Eagles get outstanding bonuses today https://africanfootball.com//bp_images/2016/03/Samm_17_November_1.jpg Eagles striker Ighalo (left) vs Swaziland in 2018 World Cup qualifier Super Eagles are to be paid today the win bonus for a 2018 World Cup qualifier against Swaziland. The players are to receive a $5,000 bonus-a-man for the 2-0 home win over Swaziland in November. The payment was delayed after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) first ordered the players to open foreign currency accounts which they will transfer the bonus to. A majority of the players has kicked against this arrangement. Top NFF officials have already arrived Kaduna to ensure the payments are effected. It is hoped that this payment will fire up the players ahead of Friday’s must-win AFCON qualifier against Egypt. Eagles spokesman Toyin Ibitoye said: “We have no option but to win. “The game is very, very crucial and a win will boost our confidence for the second match in Egypt.” http://africanfootball.com/news/621315/Eagles-get-outstanding-bonuses-today |

AFCON holders Côte d’Ivoire set to move up a gear https://africanfootball.com//bp_images/2016/03/Max_Gradel_CIV_v_Sierra_Leo_580x473.jpg Cote d'Ivoire winger Max Gradel Côte d’Ivoire will welcome Sudan in Abidjan on Friday in Group I of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The defending champions got their qualifying campaign off to a disappointing start with a goalless draw against Sierra Leone in Port Harcourt last September, and will be targeting all six points from their double header with the Nile Crocodiles. “With regards to the qualification, it is clear that the double header against Sudan is crucial for the Elephants,” national coach Michel Dussuyer said. “We want to keep our destiny in our own hands during this qualifying campaign, and that means achieving good results against Sudan. “So ideally, we would like to win both matches.” The former Guinea manager will again have to cope in the absence of skipper Yaya Touré, who is battling with a heel problem, as well as Sunderland centre-back Lamine Koné, Malaga left-back Arthur Boka and SM Caen midfielder Ismaël Diomandé, all injured. However, long-term absentees Wilfried Kanon and Max Gradel are making a welcome return to the squad, alongside a core of experienced players like Serge Aurier, Geoffroy Serey Die, Gervinho, Wilfried Bony and Salomon Kalou. Meanwhile, AS Tanda keeper Ali Badra Sangaré and AFAD midfielder Yao Serge N’Guessan are the only representatives from the domestic league. Top of Group I on three points, after enjoying a narrow 1-0 home victory over Sierra Leone, Sudan could be tempted to settle for a draw in Abidjan before hosting the Elephants in Omdurman four days later. But the East African side, who have lost their last four meetings with the Ivoirians, have not defeated the Elephants since October 1979. The game will kick off at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny at 18h30 CAT on Friday. http://africanfootball.com/news/621319/AFCON-holders-Cte-dIvoire-set-to-move-up-a-gear |

FINALLY!!! I SAW IT COMING... I avoided discussing the "captaincy issue" because I didn't want to distract from the Afcon qualifiers. I was always asking myself, WHO WILL LEAD THE EAGLES OUT AGAINST EGYPT UNDER SIASIA? Well, I finally have my answer. MIKEL IS NEW CAPTAIN AND DESERVEDLY SO. Bring it on Pharoahs!!!! |

lexyman: We are going against a coach who likes to defend and counter attack. I agree with Coach Amunike and Mikel. We have to play in a disciplined manner. The Onazi style bombarding forward play will be suicidal. We are weak defensively. If Azubuike goes forward, he creates gap for the pacy players of the Egyptians to exploit. Let the attacking play come from the two strikers and the Wingers. That is if we are going with Icon4s formation. Mikel and Azubuike should play deep and shield the defence. Our Wing backs should rotate when it comes to going forward. One should stay back most of the times to make a three man defence. |
