@ Oglalasioux the questions raised are very interesting questions and spiritually inclined but I will recommend you to read the brochure ( A book for all people published by JW). The opening conversation and the subsequent topics discussed will fascinate you and answer all of your questions. Consider this why did the unlettered men that wrote the bible not argue about the sphericity of the earth or the physical laws of nature as well as all areas the bible touched concerning science. |

| Re: Things I Learnt From Jehovah's Witnesses, Memorial Of Christ Death! by paulGrundy(m): 10:51am On Mar 26, 2016 |
ableguy:Early christains did not proselytize by going from house to house, although they held their meetings in peoples house. Going to kingdom hall is not the same as doing preaching work. The most common method was open air evangelism e.g Jesus' sermon on the mount, peters conversion of the 3000 on the day of pentecost. JW's don't even practise it as much as they claim to follow the bible closely. |

@ Oglalasioux This alone I found : the true God made mankind upright but they have sought out many schemes which includes false religion all over the place, believe in evolution believe in science that include proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, crime, violence is that the best of evolution. Massive degradation of the earth due to exploit of science. It is still argued till today is technology a curse or blessing. You decide!!! |

last time I checked some of the best scientist and poet Sir Isaac Newton, Milton, the world has produced believe only selected few are going to heaven and many will enjoy life on earth. They are not just scientist that made sure their spiritual aspect of their lives are fulfilled |

favoured234:You said, "Jehovah witness not my thing... Awake and watchtower very educative... I like." And I insist it's contradictory. Remember Witness' views and beliefs are promoted in those journals, especially WatchTower. So if you found the journals likable and educative, then you shouldn't be in a haste to say, "...witness not my thing." Well, you can say you find some of their beliefs unacceptable, but however, that you find a number of articles on the journals interesting and educative. "Jehovah witness not my thing" isn't a proper way of saying you don't attend Witness. |

ableguy:An apostate is someone who renounced a belief or religion and changes to another. About 50% of jw aren't born jw, at one point in time they converted frm their former church or religion to become jw. How come u dont refer to these as apostates? |
| Re: Things I Learnt From Jehovah's Witnesses, Memorial Of Christ Death! by paulGrundy(m): 11:23am On Mar 26, 2016*. Modified: 11:45am On Mar 26, 2016 |
BIBLESPEAKS:Am glad you used the bolded. But the truth is that some watchtower "light" did not progress, take for example WT's teachings on superior authorities. Superior authorities were taught to be earthly authorities prior to 1929, during rutherfords presidency he said it reffered to God only. After which it's meaning was later changed to mean earthly authorities. Romans 13:1-2 “Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. Therefore he who opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God; those who have taken a stand against it will receive judgment to themselves.” Until 1929, the “superior authorities” or “higher powers” were correctly said by Watchtower to be the earthly rulers to whom Christians paid taxes and whose laws they were obligated to follow. “They taught the Church to obey the laws, and to respect those in authority because of their office, even if they were not personally worthy of esteem; to pay their appointed taxes, and, except where they conflicted with God’s laws (Acts 4:19; 5:29), to offer no resistance to any established law. (Rom. 13:1-7; Matt. 22:21)” Studies In the Scriptures Series I - The Divine Plan of the Ages p.266 “The Bible directs the followers of Jesus to be subject to the powers that be. (Romans 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13-17) But while seeking to be thus law-abiding in every respect, Christians are to recognize that there is still a higher law and a still higher Ruler, and are to be subject to the worldly powers only in the absence of a contrary admonition from the Higher Power - from God.” Watch Tower 1916 Jan 15 With one of Rutherford’s revelations, this changed in 1929. “The instruction of the thirteenth chapter of Romans has long been misapplied. The improper application has really been the basis for the false doctrine of the “divine right of kings” or rulers to rule and oppress the people. The apostle is, in substance, telling the members of the church that they should always be obedient to God, and that the motive for such obedience must be love for God and a delight in doing’ his will.” Watchtower 1929 Jun 1 p.163 “Both of these scriptures have reference to the government, order and discipline in the organization of the Lord. Applying these words to earthly governments has been misleading and wrongful so far as Christians are concerned.” Watchtower 1929 Jun 15 p.183 From 1929 to 1962, the Superior Authorities became “the Most High God Jehovah and his exalted Son Jesus Christ.” (This Means Everlasting Life (1950) p.197) Jesus taught his disciples about Gods kingdom, even before then they had read about the kingdom from the laws and prophets...still, they didn't fully understand it, all the while thinking it was a government to free the jews from the romans. It only became clearer to them after jesus died and ascended to heaven. Even we today now have a clearer understanding about God's kingdom than paul and other first century christians. You have rightly spoken, but then the question is how many of the apostles writings/expectation turned out to be incorrect? None. Daniel may not have fully understood the scriptures, but all the parts/flashes of light apportioned to him turned out to be accurate and correct. Can we say the same of the watchtower? The truth about God's kingdom is static, dsnt change, but our understanding of it is progressive according to Gods will and purpose. So it is with the body of truth. So an evidence that a religion is progressive and on track is that they are always ready to adjust their understanding to be more aligned with truth. They realise that God grants understanding progressively.Brighter light is not unique to witnesses alone, Catholics, church of christ, 7th day adventist hold same view, but theirs builds on itself, if a "light" does not build on itself, it is not from God, it is just a mere reflection of a small groups opinion. Moreover God can never include lies and falsehoods in his light. Some incorrect predictions e.g end of the world in 1975, turned incorrect can NEVER be from God, you know why? Because God can never lie. unfortunately that's something people who think in human terms cnt understand. you cannot weigh the bible on a scientific scale, you cannot judge a religion with human wisdom, u'll get it all wrong. So what is the authorised scale to judge religions? ![]() I've explained all of these to you on older threads, but U're so consumed with lashing jehovah's witnesses. Do u know how many persons have gotten baptised since u started as yooguys and then paulgrundy and now? Its pathetic, just quit and be helped. You haven't explained anything to me, I guess you explained it to Yooguyz. I have equally told you a lot of times that I am NOT yooguyz. |
