joyandfaith:"Does God's rest day parallel the time man has been on earth since his creation? Apparently so. In what year, then, would the first 6,000 years of man's existence and also the first 6,000 years of Gods rest day come to an end? The year 1975. It means that within a relatively few years we will witness the fulfilment of the remaining prophecies that have to do with the "time of the end"
." Awake! 1966 Oct 8 pp.19-20 "It did not take the brothers very long to find the chart beginning on page 31, showing that 6,000 years of man's existence end in 1975. Discussion of 1975 overshadowed about everything else. "The new book compels us to realize that Armageddon is, in fact, very close indeed," said a conventioner. Surely it was one of the outstanding blessings to be carried home!" .. Brother Franz. 'Does it mean that Armageddon is going to be finished, with Satan bound, by 1975? It could! It could! All things are possible with God. Does it mean that Babylon the Great is going to go down by 1975? It could. Does it mean that the attack of Gog of Magog is going to be made on Jehovah's witnesses to wipe them out, then Gog himself will be put out of action? It could. But we are not saying. All things are possible with God. But we are not saying. And don't any of you be specific in saying anything that is going to happen between now and 1975. But the big point of it all is this, dear friends: Time is short. Time is running out, no question about that." Watchtower 1966 Oct 15 pp.629,631 http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/1975.php Apparantly you are blind watchtower follower just as omagzee implied. I guess you are not even aware that the watchtower regard themselves as “a modern day prophet of jehovah" "So, does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come? IDENTIFYING THE "PROPHET" These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet? ... This "prophet" was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses. ... Of course, it is easy to say that this group acts as a "prophet" of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way that this can be done is to review the record. Thus this group of anointed followers of Jesus Christ, doing a work in Christendom paralleling Ezekiel's work among the Jews, were manifestly the modern-day Ezekiel, the "prophet" commissioned by Jehovah to declare the good news of God's Messianic kingdom and to give warning to Christendom." Watchtower 1972 Apr 1 pp.197-199 'They Shall Know that a Prophet Was Among Them' Ironically the watchtower claimed they did not speak for God when they predicted the end of the word in 1975 they attributed it to wrong expections while yet still calling those who made false predictions false prophets, while rejecting that label for themselves. ![]() "True, there have been those in times past who predicted an "end to the world," even announcing a specific date. Yet nothing happened. The "end" did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was missing? Missing from such people were God's truths and the evidence that he was guiding and using them." Awake! 1968 Oct 8 p.23 Is HYPOCRISY the best word I would use to justify such behaviour?

LinuxMint:All the JW's keeping claiming that they are mocked and their facts have been falsified, but the funny thing since I started quoting from jwfacts.com is that NO JW has come up with evidence to prove their accusations. ![]() Why are they eager to ignore critical articles on the society, but believes everything without question that's contained in the watchtower? What proof do they have to show that the watchtower is the only authorised channel to God? I would leave you with this scripture Proverbs 14:15MSG Only a simpleton believes everything he's told! A prudent man understands the need for proof. |

Omagzee:That's just it! An average watchtower article is not complete without digging into the inquisitions and the crusader period of the Catholic church, yet joyandfaith is furious whenever WT's history is brought forth. Watchtower always implore readers to question and investigate their religious beliefs. But if a witness dares raises even a- why- question, shunning follows I don't understand?? |

joyandfaith:You did not even bother to read my post before commenting. Now go through this watchtower quote, observe properly the highlighted, and if you have any doubts, you can confirm the quote at your official website: wol.jw.org "Does God's rest day parallel the time man has been on earth since his creation? Apparently so. In what year, then, would the first 6,000 years of man's existence and also the first 6,000 years of Gods rest day come to an end? The year 1975. It means that within a relatively few years we will witness the fulfilment of the remaining prophecies that have to do with the "time of the end"." Awake! 1966 Oct 8 pp.19-20 That's a watchtower quote prior to 1975, refering to the prediction as a prophecy, in contrast to what you are saying. |

| Re: Things I Learnt From Jehovah's Witnesses, Memorial Of Christ Death! by rabzy: 11:39pm On Mar 27, 2016 |
paulGrundy:If a group of xtians claim to be a prophet of God, how is that strange. In the Christian fold everybody claimed to be sent by God. Tell me one that says he is not sent by God to do what he is doing, we have apostle a, prophet b, reverend c, man of God d. In many sermons, some have claimed to be in a meeting with God, and 'daddy told me that' bla bla. They claim, we too claim shikena. A prophet does not necessarily have to issue prophetic statements of the future, like foretelling the future. The meaning of the word is spokesman. Abraham was called a prophet but never foretell the future, Aaron was one too but he only relayed Moses messages. The witnesses never prophesied in the sense of foretelling the future but they studied the scriptures diligently and continously to discern God's message as already written in the scriptures and then relay it. In that sense they are spokesman, it is different from someone who sleeps and wakes up and say he has received a revelation that God would destroy the world next week. This is a totally, new and inspired revelation is claiming. When it fails he has become a fake prophet meaning he was given no new revelation from God. Witnesses are never such prophets. We have never claimed to receive new revelations previously not contained in the Bible. We are just Bible students and what speak out what we have learnt. In the study it is understandable that you may fully comprehend some things, you may even get some wrong but you don't stop. You try as much as possible to get as much truths as you can get and live by it.. The law covenant was given by God but it was not perfect but it was the way to God by all who live at that time. It served it's purpose, but it was not perfect. Now talking about saying that others are false. Let me start by saying all others have also called us false. Those jwfacts stuff you quote were mostly issues thrown up by religious leaders who say Russell is a false preacher, they even went into his business and private life to discredit him. While he only peach against beliefs, they actually attacked him using everything. They attack his business, his family. That was low. They wanted to get him by all cost and so manufacture all manner of falsehood which jwfacts is regurgitating. Mind you we have never we don't make mistakes, in fact we don't even hide them. Which of these other prophets, man of God, general overseers and churches have come out to own up to their mistakes. Moses was a spokesman but he also spoke out of turn, Elijah too including John the Baptist. That does not make them false prophets. Most xtians in other churches believe we false, in fact we are the number one false church to all of them, we are not even Christians to them. Their pastors believe so and say so and so do the followers. So why can't we also say others are false too and speak against such falsehood without turning it into a roforofo fight like they do.. |

| Re: Things I Learnt From Jehovah's Witnesses, Memorial Of Christ Death! by paulGrundy(m): 2:35pm On Mar 28, 2016 |
rabzy:Nothing wrong with that, but the implication claiming to be a prophet is that none of your words should fail if not, you are deemed a false prophet. "However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. And in case you should say in your heart: "How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?" when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it." Deuteronomy 18:20-22 On specific occasions the watchtower has made some specific dated predictions, claiming to speak on Jehovahs behalf. A prophet does not necessarily have to issue prophetic statements of the future, like foretelling the future. The meaning of the word is spokesman. raises yet another question, can God retract his statement, can God make incorrect statements? Can Gods word fail? Abraham was called a prophet but never foretell the future, Aaron was one too but he only relayed Moses messages.Your assertion is incorrect, I quoted a watchtower post earlier "Does God's rest day parallel the time man has been on earth since his creation? Apparently so. In what year, then, would the first 6,000 years of man's existence and also the first 6,000 years of Gods rest day come to an end? The year 1975. It means that within a relatively few years we will witness the fulfilment of the remaining prophecies that have to do with the "time of the end"." Awake! 1966 Oct 8 pp.19-20 ^^^ 1975 prediction was called a prophecy. We have never claimed to receive new revelations previously not contained in the Bible. We are just Bible students and what speak out what we have learnt. There have been many instances like that. Obviously I don't think you know much about your history. Your books on revelations and Daniel's prophecies are perfect examples. In the study it is understandable that you may fully comprehend some things, you may even get some wrong but you don't stop. You try as much as possible to get as much truths as you can get and live by it..Yes but never at one time did God say hey! Let's go back to the OT. They wanted to get him by all cost and so manufacture all manner of falsehoodLies! You didn't even bother to go through the site yet you are making assumptions. NOT ONE topic was devoted to Russell or any other leader, much less on attack on him. which jwfacts is regurgitating. Mind you we have never we don't make mistakes, in fact we don't even hide them. Which of these other prophets, man of God, general overseers and churches have come out to own up to their mistakes. Moses was a spokesman but he also spoke out of turn, Elijah too including John the Baptist. That does not make them false prophets.I donnderstand you. Most xtians in other churches believe we false, in fact we are the number one false church to all of them, we are not even Christians to them. Their pastors believe so and say so and so do the followers. |

PaulGrundy and his associates here are not the first and won't be the last. People who are wiser and more powerful than them have all tried in the past and didn't succeed so will they too. They have been busy digging up irrelevant issues just to discredit the JWs, but one is certain and that is, progress. The records are there for all to see, no organization can be like them. They are unique and has been the only group that stuck to Bible standards, diligently obeyed Jesus command to preach the good in all the inhabited earth, have also maintained neutrality as far as politics is concerned and numerous achievements that has actually proven that they still remain the best as far as religion is concerned. But my advice for u is to study your Bible very well, and the most important thing is to be at peace with JEHOVAH the Almighty GOD not fighting and stressing yourself with irrelevant things. Thanks! |

Paul Grundy and Co, don't think ur aim has been fullfilled cos it's just so crystal clear...... We Witnesses are so over this and we re still waxing strong,........... It's takes more than just what u put up here to turn the heart of a witness. If u like, go on and on, we re undeterred.. Why?? Becos what we learn everyday at the meeting has proved beneficial to our personal life and that's what matters except u will have to block such knowledge..... IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..... one thing u should know is this...... JEHOVAH WITNESSES WILL ALWAYS BE HERE AND WILL KEEP ON INCREASING!!!!!!!!! |

ableguy:Many other christain groups also stick to bible standards. They pattern their activites after bible standards. diligently obeyed Jesus command to preach the good in all the inhabited earthYour claim is laughable, ![]() If other churches don't preach then how do they get members? RCC has over 1 billion members, JW has just 8million worldwide. Are you saying it because they don't preach from door to door? Remember door to door was not the only method of evangelism. Christian groups that do not have a door to door ministry often contain well organized evangelical programs. For instance, a group renowned for their preaching efforts are Baptists. Baptists have the most missionaries of any religion. In 2004 there were 7 million Baptists out side of America, 600,000 baptisms and 21,000 new churches. In 2004 Witnesses baptised only 200,000 globally. Interesting information on the significant efforts of Baptist missionaries can be viewed at internationalministries.org and namb.net. My church is another example, we hold outreaches during easter and christmas period and plant churches. have also maintained neutral as far as politics is concernedThey claim to have maintained neutrality in politics but the enough they've actually lobbiedied government officials by registering with the UN and OSCE. Although There are many groups that maintained and still maintains neutrality in politics let me list a few: Some Pentecostal groups such as the Pentecostal Charismatic Peace Fellowship Seven Day Adventists Community of Christ Christadelphians Worldwide Church of God Pax Christi - A Catholic peace movement and numerous achievements that has actually proven that they still remains the best as far as religion is concernedLike which achievement? Give me just one example! PaulGrundy make sure u are your brothers die on this thread, two people cannot b mad at once. But my advice for u is to study your Bible very well, and the most important thing is to be at peace with JEHOVAH the Almighty GOD not fighting and stressing yourself with irrelevant things. Thanks!I think you are the one who needs that bible study and an independent one too. Try investigative what ever you read in watchtower literature before swallowing it hook line and sinker. |
