NEW YORK—Two video news releases featured in the Newsroom section of jw.org were recognized at the 36th Annual Telly Awards. News Update: Jehovah’s Witnesses Moving Forward and Stanley Theater Renovation each won a 2015 Bronze Telly Award in the “Online Video News Feature” category.

Jared Kushner, CEO of Kushner Companies, as seen in the online video News Update: Jehovah’s Witnesses Moving Forward.
News Update: Jehovah’s Witnesses Moving Forward reported on the Witnesses’ October 2, 2013, sale of a five-building complex in Brooklyn, New York, to RFR and Kushner Companies, part of the eventual move of their world headquarters from Brooklyn to Warwick, New York. The video news release featured excerpts from an interview with Jared Kushner, chief executive officer of Kushner Companies. Commenting on working with the Witnesses, Mr. Kushner stated: “A handshake means something with the Witnesses. It’s much easier to transact with a group where there’s a high level of trust.”

Architectural historian and author Richard Polton, as seen in the online video Stanley Theater Renovation.
Stanley Theater Renovation documented the Witnesses’ six-month renovation of the historic Stanley Theater in Jersey City, New Jersey, which reopened on April 13, 2013. This video news release featured comments from Witnesses who traveled at their own expense and volunteered to work on the project. It also featured comments from Richard Polton, an architectural historian and author, who spoke on the historical significance of the building and the Witnesses’ meticulous preservation of the building’s character. “This was one of the premiere theaters in the New York metropolitan area,” Mr. Polton stated. He also described the theater’s renovation by Jehovah’s Witnesses as “a heartening example of what can be done with one of the great buildings by an organization that’s really committed to use it and use it to the maximum without destroying its architectural character.”

Both videos are available for download from the Newsroom section of jw.org, which features news releases and video news items as official information resources to assist media and academic professionals.

The Telly Awards were founded in 1979 to honor outstanding television commercials and programs, video and film productions, and web videos and films. The field for 2015 was made up of over 12,000 qualifying entries produced between 2013 and 2015. “The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, executive director of the Telly Awards. “The Witnesses’ accomplishment in the jw.org Newsroom illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”

paulGrundy:
Nothing wrong with that, but the implication claiming to be a prophet is that none of your words should fail if not, you are deemed a false prophet.

"However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. And in case you should say in your heart: "How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken?" when the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it." Deuteronomy 18:20-22

On specific occasions the watchtower has made some specific dated predictions, claiming to speak on Jehovahs behalf.

.

raises yet another question, can God retract his statement, can God make incorrect statements? Can Gods word fail?

Your assertion is incorrect, I quoted a watchtower post earlier

"Does God's rest day parallel the time man has been on earth since his creation? Apparently so. In what year, then, would the first 6,000 years of man's existence and also the first 6,000 years of Gods rest day come to an end? The year 1975. It means that within a relatively few years we will witness the fulfilment of the remaining prophecies that have to do with the "time of the end"." Awake! 1966 Oct 8 pp.19-20

^^^ 1975 prediction was called a prophecy.

There have been many instances like that. Obviously I don't think you know much about your history. Your books on revelations and Daniel's prophecies are perfect examples.

Yes but never at one time did God say hey! Let's go back to the OT.

Lies! You didn't even bother to go through the site yet you are making assumptions. NOT ONE topic was devoted to Russell or any other leader, much less on attack on him.
This applies when you foretell the future issuing a new revelation, like when Jonah said Nineveh will be destroyed or when Noah said there is going to be a flood. These are new revelations given to these prophets to tell others. But when you search the scriptures and try to understand explain or determine the occurrence of an event as a bible student and you come a conclusion based on your study that is no prophesy. You are not prophesying.
About the time of Jesus Birth, there was a lot of speculations about the coming of the messiah, based on prophesies in the scriptures a lot of God's people have determined that they were at a period in which the messiah would appear, a lot got the year wrong. Some even thought 'the prophet' and 'christ' were different people. Based on these prophesies a lot of them including Jesus Apostles thought he was going to deliver them from the Romans and usher in God's Kingdom immediately. This was their understanding of Bible prophesies because they got it wrong does not make them false prophets.
Based on Jesus statement about John that he would remain until his coming, all the apostles believed John was never going to die, but they were wrong. Does that make them false prophets. Even after Jesus Died the two disciples he met on the road believed he would liberate the Israelite before his death, these are people Jesus has been with for 3 years and explained a lot of things to, but they still had erroneous beliefs. John the Baptist while in prison, despite hearing God's word from heaven, still asked Jesus if he was the one coming or should they expect someone else. This does not make him a false prophet. They all made wrong deductions of Bible prophesies and statements.
Same as witnesses, we have never given any prophesy, repeat no prophetic revelation has been made by Witnesses, what has been is the interpretation of prophesies and what they mean.

Moses was God's spokeman's but he spoke out of turn, so did Aaron, Miriam, Jonah, etc that does not make them false.

2. Witnesses have calculated dates based on biblical prophetic statements. They didn't predict nothing, they only tried to know and understand what was predicted.

Nope you got it wrong, The 1975 year calculation was not the prophesy neither is it a prophesy, the statement is 'It means that within a relatively few years we will witness the fulfilment of the remaining prophecies that have to do with the "time of the end"." Awake! 1966 Oct 8 pp.19-20

This is referring to biblical prophesies about the last days or time of the end. There are several prophesies in the bible concerning the last days, end of time and these are the prophesies being referred to that we are awaiting their fulfilments.

i studied those books, you cant claim to know them as much as i do. There was no prophesy statement, no inspired prophesy ever uttered in those books. The books are a verse by verse attempts at explaining and understanding these prophetic books. Mention one statement in any of those books which was a revelation or a new prophesy.

Agreed, i mixed the jwfacts up with another site.

you may have to teach me how to put my response such that it just be below your own comments and not just one lump like this...i used to know how to do it i think but now forgotten.. grin

Why don't you guys see sites where POPE for instance heaps praises on the jws? Or are you better than them? It's there on Google for all to see.

POPE Francisco (Francis) PRAISES JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES WORLDWIDE .. Moving - Pascom Porto Feliz:
Catholic Conference discusses increasing Witnesses ...
What leads so many people to become Jehovah's Witnesses? This was the question asked by some clerics, as shown by the following quotations. For example, in Bologna, Italy, the ecclesiastical authorities, with the approval of the pope, held a conference to discuss ways to combat the success of Jehovah's Witnesses. The Catholic Church raised a "cry of alarm", the newspaper La Republica says, because every year ten thousand Catholics become Jehovah's Witnesses. The Jesuit Giuseppe De Rosa said that "the religious point of view the most dangerous are Jehovah's Witnesses. They come fully trained and always have the Bible in hand." In an article that deals specifically with Jehovah's Witnesses, the Jesuit journal La Civilta Cattolica said: "The first reason for the spread of this movement are the propaganda techniques [ie, in preaching]. On the one hand, the work is thorough, carried from house to house by people who are strictly trained in this work, and are deeply convinced [ ...] " "The second reason for the success of JWs is the force of attraction of Jehovah's message, because it can meet the needs, demands and expectations of the people of our time. First, it answers the need for certainty, which is much appreciated at a time where everything is uncertain and unstable. [...] Above all, it is an absolutely safe revelation of the future and, therefore, all who accept it, experience freedom from fear and anxiety and can face the future with joy, with ensuring that they will survive the destruction that will come the great day of God's judgment on a wicked world, to live in eternal happiness on earth. Second, Jehovah's message helps to overcome the concern of the individual against the woes of this world, announces that soon will end the unbearable situation of today, and soon there will be a new era and will be born a new world in which all the wicked will be removed now triumph. [...] " "The third reason for the success of JWs is that this movement gives its members a precise identity and strength, and is a place where they are greeted with warmth and a sense of brotherhood and solidarity." The Vatican document analyzed the needs of people today, and the quote above the Jesuit journal La Civilta Cattolica showed that the message of Jehovah's Witnesses meet those needs. This also showed Vittorio Messori Catholic writer in his recent book Scommesse sulla morte (a bet on death), who writes: "It makes us think that Jehovah's Witnesses, is one of the religious denominations of the fastest growing in the world. It is among the religions that are practiced in many countries and perhaps [...] is first in terms of fervor, zeal, activism, the ability to make proselytes. " "And this presence, increasingly pronounced, is not limited to Christian tradition countries, but reaching the whole world, where in the name of Jehovah, and before long, they get results that are superior to those of Catholic missionaries, Protestants and Orthodox, who have worked for centuries. " "This stunning expansive force is incomprehensible only to those who simply do not want to admit that [...] with a course in how to understand the Bible, Jehovah's Witnesses meet the real needs that other theologies do not meet." "You can not get around the issue suggesting that the growth of witnesses is because they scare people. It is precisely the opposite:. Unlike the " official " churches, JWs deny the existence of hell and preach the destruction and disappearance after death of the wicked and unbelieving. This may be an unpleasant prospect, but certainly less frightening than the threat of a terrible pain for all eternity in Hell. "Yes, the God of Jehovah's Witnesses is a loving God, and not one that terrorizes the people . The following quote is the Catholic magazine Mondo ERRE March 1986: "It must be said that Jehovah's

In conclusion this is paul grundy's advice to all and sundry.
This picture sums up his motives and the fact that he is definitely seriously biased against witnesses and he is no champion of truth.

He is an advocate of what really......then Jehovah's witnesses are naturally annoying people......So all those who became Jehovah's witnesses are naturally annoying people. Very interesting revelation from him there....mtchew.

You haven't been able to tell us why he's false, this man exposed many church false doctrines.

The Bible students carefully and diligently studied the scriptures and made adjustments as time goes by to align their lives n accordance with what they learn.

Many of you have admitted for instance that the scriptures does not support Christmas, how many have been able to make changes? So with numerous other false doctrines. For your information that man your have been waisting time and your energy was an outstanding man recognized worldwide for his stand for truth. You can't and will never achieve one quarter of what he achieved, leave jws alone.

Once again Jehovah's witnesses never told you they are prophets, theirs difference between studying or interpreting bible prophecies and being a prophet.

When they make mistakes they always apologize, yes the part of a righteous ones is like a path that gets lighter as the day unfolds, it takes humility to do so. By the way were you the one who pointed out the errors?

This is wikipedia's qoute about JWS:
Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society publications have made a series of predictions about Christ's Second Coming and the advent of God's Kingdom, each of which has gone unfulfilled. Almost all the predictions for 1878, 1881, 1914, 1918 and 1925 were later reinterpreted as a confirmation of the eschatological framework of the Bible Student movement and Jehovah's Witnesses, with many of the predicted events viewed as having taken place invisibly. Further expectations were held for the arrival of Armageddon in 1975, but resulted in a later apology to members from the society's leadership.

English researcher George D. Chryssides has argued that although there have been some "unrealized expectations", changes in Watch Tower chronology are attributable more to changed chronological schemes, rather than to failed predictions.[1] The Watch Tower Society has acknowledged errors, which it said helped "sift" the unfaithful from its ranks, but says adherents remained confident that "God's Word" had not failed.

Maybe this will help you or continue to make noise forever.

This is from the witnesses. Maybe you have been sleeping on this thread, well ignorance I guess. We don tell you this thing b4 na. Read am again. Why this gara gara?

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not claim to be inspired prophets. They have made mistakes. Like the apostles of Jesus Christ, they have at times had some wrong expectations.—Luke 19:11; Acts 1:6.

The Scriptures provide time elements related to Christ’s presence, and Jehovah’s Witnesses have studied these with keen interest. (Luke 21:24; Dan. 4:10-17) Jesus also described a many-featured sign that would tie in with the fulfillment of time prophecies to identify the generation that would live to see the end of Satan’s wicked system of things. (Luke 21:7-36) Jehovah’s Witnesses have pointed to evidence in fulfillment of this sign. It is true that the Witnesses have made mistakes in their understanding of what would occur at the end of certain time periods, but they have not made the mistake of losing faith or ceasing to be watchful as to fulfillment of Jehovah’s purposes. They have continued to keep to the fore in their thinking the counsel given by Jesus: “Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.”—Matt. 24:42.

Matters on which corrections of viewpoint have been needed have been relatively minor when compared with the vital Bible truths that they have discerned and publicized. Among these are the following: Jehovah is the only true God. Jesus Christ is not part of a Trinitarian godhead but is the only-begotten Son of God. Redemption from sin is possible only through faith in Christ’s ransom sacrifice. The holy spirit is not a person but is Jehovah’s active force, and its fruitage must be evident in the lives of true worshipers. The human soul is not immortal, as the ancient pagans claimed; it dies, and the hope for future life is in the resurrection. God’s permission of wickedness has been because of the issue of universal sovereignty. God’s Kingdom is the only hope for mankind. Since 1914 we have been living in the last days of the global wicked system of things. Only 144,000 faithful Christians will be kings and priests with Christ in heaven, whereas the rest of obedient mankind will receive eternal life on a paradise earth.

Another factor to consider regarding the teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses is this: Have these truly uplifted people morally? Are those who adhere to these teachings outstanding in their communities because of their honesty? Is their family life beneficially influenced by applying these teachings? Jesus said that his disciples would be readily identified because of having love among themselves. (John 13:35) Is this quality outstanding among Jehovah’s Witnesses? We let the facts speak for themselves.

Did the early Christians not made mistakes in their understanding and calculation of events? Are they failures? Luke 19:11; Acts 1:6.

1 Chron. 17:1-4, 15. Read and see what happened to prophet Nathan, it didn't disqualify him as a prophet. Or will you call him a false prophet?

rabzy:

Agreed, i mixed the jwfacts up with another site.

you may have to teach me how to put my response such that it just be below your own comments and not just one lump like this...i used to know how to do it i think but now forgotten.. grin
used to find it hard to do too, I'll show you by giving you an example.

let's say some one posted the words in bold below and you want to reply him

"I'm one of Jehovahs witnesses"
" I live in nigeria"

but you want to reply him by firSt responding to "I'm one of Jehovahs witnesses" with the word "yes" before going to " I live in nigeria", below is how you do it.

[quotee]I'm one of Jehovahs witnesses[/quotee]
yes
[quotee]I live in nigeria[/quotee]

noticed I typed quotee, the actual word is quote, if I've typed "quote" in my example, you would not have seen it.

You can use your reply to me to check if you got it right.

But the early church never discarded any of their earlier understandings/calculations as false-hoods, why is the watchtower different?

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not claim to be inspired prophets
"This was the test - the coming down of fire; and the fulfillment exactly on time has proved that Pastor Russell was one of God's great reformers and prophets." Watchtower 1919 Oct 1 p.297

"For an answer, people should listen to the plain preaching by the remnant prefigured by Jeremiah, for these preach to men the present-day fulfillment of Jeremiah's prophecies. Who made them a prophet to speak with the authority that they claim? Well, who made Jeremiah a prophet?" Watchtower 1959 Jan 15 pp.39-41

"Those who do not read can hear, for God has on earth today a prophetlike organization, just as he did in the days of the early Christian congregation." Watchtower 1964 Oct 1 p.601

The watchtower is clearly rejecting that claim because of this scripture owing to their failed predictions.

The watchtower calls their 1975 failed prediction wrong expectation, but accuse other religions who made false predictions after 1975, false prophets. grin grin grin

"True, there have been those in times past who predicted an "end to the world," even announcing a specific date. Yet nothing happened. The "end" did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying. Why? What was missing?

Missing from such people were God's truths and the evidence that he was guiding and using them." Awake! 1968 Oct 8 p.23

"Political leaders often end up being “false prophets” unable to fulfill their promises. Of course, not every ruler turns out to be a “Hitler,” whose promised “thousand-year reich” proved to be a disastrous 12 years of misrule. ... A very prominent political “prophet” of our present century was the League of Nations, formed in 1919. It foretold a world of lasting peace. But World War II unceremoniously dumped it into a pit of inactivity." Awake! 1981 Dec 8 p.14.

Something tells me they know deep down within them that they made a false prophecy. grin grin
