Back to topic, anybody that follow current affairs know that for many years, UK/US have been lobbying and pushing for the devaluation of Nigeria currency because of the huge resource investment potential.

They want to buy our economy for nothing and use the profit to expand their GDP. I have known this for a very long time.

Mumu...they never start yet with Buhari, you are here calling him strong strong man. All they need to do is to threaten him with Biiafra, he will devalue it to 300 naira. You don't understand how the world works. Let him proof stubborn...Gaddafi and Gbagbo treatment will await him.

Personally I think Naira should be devalued to 220 officially. This will bring parralel market rate to 230. This will help ordinary Nigerians. As it's right now only the elite are enjoying the astounding difference in official and parralel market rates.

I am tempted to believe that some of our economical woes may be connected to foreign interference.

On who's interest to devalue? Rather than returning our loot stored in different banks in US to develop our economy, the US is pressing for killing the naira.

US come and buy oil from us not devaluation!
The naira is already devalued in reality, but on paper its not. The CBN has an exchange rate, then the street has her exchange rate. Guess where most of the trading is done in private sector. You guessed right, at the BDC, so our naira is equal to the value at the black market, just that Presidency wants to save their face by pegging the CBN rate as official rate. There is nothing going on at official rate than the corruption of giving his wife 22m dollars from CBN to change to naira and keep the profit. That is the deal that is going on now.

They should focus on their country if they cannot help us in our security problems and economic growth.

I support PMB on this. The dollar gains on a devalued naira, and that is the only thing the us wants.

Let us collectively suffer now, and it will force us to diversify and grow. Opportunities will be created.

What does the US really want? Why are they crying more than the bereaved?

My question is simple. If we devalue our currency and exhaust our less than $30b in foreign reserves on imports (by subsidizing import and not replenishing the reserves as oil is at an all time low)- then what?

My comment - I am not surprised. This is EXACTLY what TB Joshua said in his 2016 prophecy: "The president will do everything to reject revaluation of the naira - which is a good idea from a good leader. But there will be overwhelming pressure which he will not be able to resist. Nigerians, support and pray for your leader. The future is crying for help."
You had to go ruin everything by quoting some idiotic prophecy made by a con man

Devaluing our currency reduces the pressure on foreign reserves, reduction in consumption of foreign goods thereby increase local production and provide employment in the long run. The negative part is that since most of our products or services used are imported, there's the possibly of inflation which we are seeing now. It's a two sided thing for us as it has it's advantages and disadvantages

Who is benefitting from from the cbn exchange rate?Every price locally has gone up in view of the market value of the naira and we are still debating about devaluation. Naira has been devalued while the cbn is now subsidising those who have access to the cbn rates.

1) Companies are now being forced to patronise local goods.
2) Importers can no longer import foreign goods that are produced locally.

Dont listen to the Americans on this one. Many Nigerians have started looking at and buying Made In Naija goods like toothpicks made from chewing sticks and no attempt should be made by PMB to spoil that now. For the first time me and my family now eat made in Nigeria Rice and Chicken.

IMF Managing Director was here for the same reason and it failed, World Bank came here asking for the same thing it failed and now the US Govt is coming directly. Wetin we do this Oyinbo people; I believe that they have seen that Nigeria is a big market wit so much potential. They supported PMB with hope that he will be their puppet but that seems not to be working.

We shall overcome.
