Is Glo/Mtn/airtel as costly as it was before? If not that NCC is still corrupt, it would have be even more cheaper

How much is simcard plus registration now?
When Etisalat came on board it ran for a year or two without profit,

If they have made the light distribution like telecoms - a street/area/zone can chose who to subscribe to then we would have seen fast improvement in the power sector but its still Monopoly(in another format)
Whether Etisalat made profit is not the issue, at the end of the day, customers have to pay for each debt of Etisalat and also pay for their investments. Profit is simple: Revenue - Expenses!

Light distribution is not like Telecoms and can never be like Telecoms. So if you decide to change from one Disco to another, would they run a new line to your house from Egbin (in case you are in Lagos) or would different Discos run different lines to each street to accommodate customers on their own networks?

Remember, you see MTN, Glo and Etisalat masts all beside each other and sometimes to even share the same masts. Do you expect to see different power lines for different Discos across the nation?

Sir I work with one of the Discos, and i can tell you that it's purely a "scam" or corruption in disguise. Generation and distribution was privatised transmission is still in the hand of govt.

Now there is a fall in oil price, depressing even the economies of households, and the government thinks it's the best time to rip citizens of their hard-earned cash to perhaps fund its budget

Those who do the business of transmission should bear the risk of the business not pushing it to the customers
Oga God bless you plenty, when kids always claim to know what they don't, I will just keep quiet cos I don even know to help in him out, thanks once again!

Mr man, Are you teaching me how to read a light bill? The fixed charges hasn't been removed in our light bill . The light bill of feburary I paid this month, contained fixed charge and the new tarrif. Maybe its been aboliished in your area but still exists here. I'll wait for the Next bill to see if fixed charge still remains. And as for you referring me to so so site, I'll say I deal with what's on ground not some propaganda shii. If you have someone living @ the south-east. Ask bout their rate! Pratiical over theory!
Please check the bill you refer as February bill - it WILL have January 2016 written on it. It is your bill for energy consumed in January but distributed in February.

Fixed charges removed by ALL DISCOs was by the regulatory body, NERC that oversees the power sector. Fixed charges have been abolished nationwide. Tariffs for different consumption classes (R1, R2SP, R2TP, R3, R4, C1SP, C1TP, C2 & C3) by the DISCO does differ

Be open to learn, we all learn everyday.
