Dollar or Rand. 10k rand or 700 Dollar is ok. Naira is useless over there.

I'e bought Rands from two members here. Rands transferred to an SA account and I settled in Naira. However, be careful whom you deal with.

segzy201 and others who can help.. pls kindly help out. I have a very big challenge.

I've been trying to secure a school for my msc (research) for over 6months now, but I have not been successful.

I have applied at almost all S.A. good schools. when I started d process I never expected it to be this hard because I have alot of pple over there who got admission without stress.

I have had saqa certificate for almost a year now. so Saqa is not the problem. I studied computer engineering.

uct, stellenbosch, up, all said i have to do honors. I can't afford dat after spending over 5years studying engineering in schl

Rhodes.. and unizulu said they can't take me cos of my 3.21 undergraduate cgpa

wits.. I spent 5months communicating back and forth with
U might have to do honours or opt for masters in computer science or other sciences! Recently a lot of nigerians start messing up at masters level hence they only give out honours

Starggerlee has given u the best advice.. The truth is that the knowledge gap between Nigeria and south Africa is very wide when talking about computer programming or related fields.. 3,4,5 years ago it was easy to get into their masters programme but things changed when they realized that most Nigerians(even those with first class in computer sci) who come for postgraduate studies in computer related courses get to struggle through out and can hardly compete at the highest level. In many cases, the students themselves get to finally change their course of study along the way. Meanwhile, going in for Honors (though a bit expensive) will afford you the opportunity to bridge that knowledge gap and if you perform excellently in the programme, you would have opened an easy and free way for your masters and PhD programme..

Agreed and a bit tough decision to go back for Honours programme. However, the truth is that your foundation has to be right to navigate the standards in advanced programmes in your field.

The language, concept, theorisation and empirical-ness makes SA different from West Africa (Nigeria).

@ Keneking, I greet you. Does being told to pay visa fees after checking documents mean that study permit will be granted? If not so, why then do we need to go through the rigours of the check?

stagerlee, bigerboy200 and others who responded, Thanks a lot.

You have a valid point , however for some reason, i cannot afford do a honors program again this year because most schools have closed applications for 2016 and already planning for 2017. Even the embassy in Nigeria have stopped receiving applications for honours and undergraduate programmes. The only study visa application they are accepting is for Masters (Coursework and research) and phD and other non degree related programs.

I am looking out for a Masters by research program for this year. I am very sure i can cope. I am just looking out for possible suggestions for schools. Waiting for another one year is not an option i can afford now

Tidying up applications with ukzn. Also who knows about ufs?

I have heard some of this schools are not that friendly to blacks. Is it true?
All I will say is don't because of Masters degree choose any school available, some schools are not worth it

Checking is to authentic the status of your application ie pre qualification. I have seen most people turned back due to incomplete documentation or even basic stuff like insurance.

Payment doesnt guarantee that you shall be granted visa. In case where fraudulent documents are discovered, you would be penalised severely.

Just as u'v been advised, the gap btw where u're comi from and where u're going is very wide to be sincere with u. Honestly, irrespective of whatever confidence or standard u think u have in your field, when u get down here u will know u have to run on a far faster lane to catch up. To even get to know how to communicate and navigate tru ur daily mails and other high-end resources will take a lot from you. However, they are not what one cannot know only that the time they take is annoying. All the schools u applied to are good schools but my concern here, which nobody has mentioned is ur cgpa (3.21). Don't u think that might also be a factor bcs from my understanding, that cgpa is second class lower. Though I don't know whether it doesn't count here but I can bet you that coupled with nigeria factor, one cannot rule that out. Best of luck.

I certainly can't use a fake document for any reason! It's not a do or die for me though I have all the docs. I was at the consulate yesterday and I was told to pay, my question is in retrospect- we were kept for hours for checks that could be done after submission...
