Congratulations to the Entrepreneurs!!. Of the 45,000 entrepreneurs from 54 African countries that applied, Nigeria had the highest number of entrepreneurs selected!

Launched in 2015, the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) is the largest African philanthropic initiative devoted to entrepreneurship and represents a 10-year, $100 million commitment, to identify and empower 10,000 African entrepreneurs, create a million jobs and add $10 billion in revenues to Africa’s economy.

Over 45,000 entrepreneurs from 54 African countries applied for the 2016 cohort, more than doubling the number of applications received in 2015. Successful candidates represent diverse industries, led by agriculture, ICT and fashion. The highest numbers of applicants came from Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda and Cameroon. All five regions – North, East, Southern, Central and West Africa are represented.

Over the next nine months, the 2016 cohort will receive the intensive online training, networking and mentoring, that provide a tool kit for success and sustainability. They will also participate in the three-day Elumelu Entrepreneurship Forum later in the year, the largest annual gathering of African entrepreneurial talent.

Parminder Vir OBE, CEO of The Tony Elumelu Foundation, said: “We saw phenomenal success with the first cycle of TEEP – the success stories of the TEEP 2015 alumni are a testament to the transformative power of the programme we have built. Through TEEP, we are proving to the next generation of entrepreneurs that their ideas can change their communities, their countries and their continent.”

Nairaland members will never see this, rather they will be arguing and swearing about what bring no value to them.

ThE thing about this Stuff is thAt, mAny times you present a business idea, they look at it from the corporation stand point and decide its not feasible.
I bet if zuckerberg had presented his facebook idea theY would have turned him Down too.

STarting small with yoUr own capital is still d best option for start ups. Especially tech and online start ups.

Until they stop looking at start up entreprenaurs from the corporation point of view, am not applying

i was also selected, same with my wife. Teep is a very straightforward and merit based program.

I believe if you present a viable business idea supported by strong market faundamentals they will surely choose you.

Nairalanders are only good in ranting online, but will never apply for the programme and when results come out, they will start crying. I personally called 10 of my jobless friends to apply when it was still open. They never did, only for them to start complaining and regreting when the list came out.

I look forward to the program and making most of the opportunity.

I applied. I did my homework well good, I researched, I put my best in it but I wasn't selected. I will try again next year.

One thing is, during the application process, I learned a whole lot about my business idea.

So, I've just confirmed it. Nairalanders applied.

definitely with more research and finetuning your business plan will improve. I lost out with Youwin 1, but i worked hard on my plan, and God on my side, i was selected for Youwin 3 ( even though that the government has not fully paid the funds after 3 years.). I am also happy to help next time.

There's something I've not understood and able to do for the past 5years. It is how to write a complete and quality business plan.
Please can you help me with a sample?
Thanks for the mail. I got your number.
