Osmanlispor FK Midfielder Raheem Lawal Aiming For Europa League Place

Raheem Lawal has revealed that he had to be substituted in Osmanlispor FK’s goalless draw with Istanbul giants Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday due to a slight niggle he picked up.

The Super Eagles midfielder has gone the distance in five of his last nine games for the capital outfit but was hauled off after 62 minutes today, the least time he has spent on the turf during the matches under review.

“I was carrying a knock, that’s why I was replaced,” Raheem Lawal told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“We are aiming to qualify for the Europa League, so we want to finish in a position that will make us qualify for the competition.”

Osmanlispor FK, who also pay the wages of Super Eagles midfielder Umar Aminu, tentatively rose to fifth place in the standings following their goalless draw with the Yellow Canaries.

I prefer Coach Emmanuel Amuneke to continue with his boys (the flying eagles) rather than take job. Because NFF have not repented from maltreating local Coaches. What is the assurance that he will endure their treatment?

In fact, it would be great if they could invite Keshi to take the chief coach job while Le Guen becomes the technical adviser..Amunike should continue nurturing the talents from U-17.

Exclusive : Sixteen Premier League Teams Exploring Ways To Sign Watford Star Odion

Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that sixteen Premier League teams are mulling over a move for Watford frontman Odion Ighalo ahead of the reopening of the transfer window in the summer.

Having said that,Watford suits have made it crystal clear that they will only listen to offers for their prized jewel at the end of this season.

It has been suggested that a bid of around 15 million pounds could sway the Hornets to part with Ighalo but it can be revealed that they have not fixed that price for the simple reason that discussions have not taken place with interested clubs.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham have been mentioned as possible destinations for the Nigeria international before the start of the 2016-17 campaign.

Odion Ighalo has stated that he would only depart The Vic for one of the so-called Big Four teams in the English Premier League.

The 26-year-old joined Watford from sister club Udinese in the summer of 2014 and has made over 60 appearances for the club , scoring 36 goals in all competitions.

They should just leave him out of their mess. Amuneke has a job to do with the flying eagles (U-20). So no distraction is needed.

The only factor which might work against Coach Emma is the inadequate experience with any serious senior national setup just like in the case of Oliseh, if not every other thing goes in his favour.

I doubt people would have complained about Coach Oliseh if he had the kind of CV Coach Amunike has.

Experience is the best teacher and that's what has been working for top managers today, we don't need coach Emma to handle the SE we need a highly experience coach that can switch to different tactics when the need is arise, the one that can manage and know how to the use the array of talents that are on ground.

I do not get your point. I never heard anyone complain about Coach Siasia's qualifications for the Super Eagles job.

I do not think there will be much criticism if Coach Amunike gets the job. Coach Amunike was an assistant coach when we won the U17 in UAE. He coached and won the U17 World Cup.

Coach Oliseh did not have that kind of qualification.

Coach Siasia coached the U20 team and the U23 teams to the finals of top tourneys.

So I repeat. If Coach Oliseh had the kind of CV Coach Amunike had, there would not be much complaints on Coach Oliseh's qualification for the Super Eagles job.

We should not hinge too much on experience but on the style of play that suits us and makes us play Better. If not we might go for highly experienced coaches that does not suit our play. We used Bora Milutinovic in 1998. A highly experienced Coach but we got whipped 4-1 by Denmark in the second round and we got whipped 5-1 in the Friendly game against Holland. In one of the Friendly games, Yugoslavia whipped us 3-0.

We have some brilliant players coming up and we need a coach who is not scared of giving Youths chances. He should have a track record of bringing out the best in young talents.

Our upcoming players are creative with the ball. We need a coach who plays attractive open attacking football and knows how to teach the players to defend collectively.

Another Coach the NFF should give a shot is Marcelo Bielsa. The Coach who led Athletico Bilbao to the Europa League final, beating Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United along the way.

His style of football fits us and he likes creative brilliant player.

Report on Marcelo Bielsa's coaching style.

Bielsa's signature formation in his squads, which he made famous and brought to the front of the world's mainstream football scene during his coaching tenures in the Argentina national football team, Chile national football team, Athletic Bilbao and Olympique de Marseille, is the 3-3-3-1 formation.

For this formation, the players are: 3 defenders (1 líbero with 2 stoppers at each side), 3 midfielders (1 central midfielder with 2 lateral-volantes at each side), 3 attacking midfielders (1 enganche and 2 wingers at each side), and 1 centerforward. 3-3-3-1 allows great transitions from defending to attacking, as many of the players used in the formation can perform both defensive and attacking tasks. Moreover, it establishes superiority in numbers in every part of the field, since with this formation his teams could defend with 7 players, attack with 6-7 players, or protect a scoreline by overwhelming the midfield with 6 players. To use 3-3-3-1, all players have to quickly set to attacking positions when the ball is in the team's possession, and all players have to aggressively press and recover the ball when it isn't in possession, so it requires great teamwork and understanding between teammates.

This signature style of Bielsa's has had so much influence in the football scene that many present coaches, former players under Bielsa's command, are heavily influenced by the style, such as Gerardo Martino, Mauricio Pochettino, Matías Almeyda and Marcelo Gallardo. Former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola credited Bielsa as his tactical inspiration. Jorge Sampaoli has been described as a 'disciple' of Bielsa.

Bayern Munich and former Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola called him the "best manager in the world" in 2012.

Wenger admits 'something special' Iwobi has surprised him

Alex Iwobi

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has continued to shower praise on Alex Iwobi, but at the same time he admitted he has been surprised by the immediate impact of the Nigeria youngster.

Iwobi has scored twice in his first two Premier League starts after coming through the Arsenal ranks right from when he was seven.

“He's worked with us since the start of the season and he has grown, gained confidence and when he came in he had an impact straight away. I didn't expect that level of efficiency or impact on the scoresheet,” Wenger told the Arsenal website.

“It's surprising how quickly he's integrated into our game.”

The Arsenal fans have warmed up to the young Nigeria forward and Wenger said it is because they have seen “something special”.

“These people have seen many good players over the years and they know straight away when a player has something special, so they acknowledge that,” he said,

I never supported Coach Amunike for the job. I was actually talking of Coach Oliseh that I feel he would not have gotten such negative feedback about his experience if he had Amunike's qualification.

I think Coach Amunike can do the job. I believe he can but I think he should grow into the role than just taking it. After the U20 World Cup, Coach Amunike should build the next Olympics team before taking over the Super Eagles.

As for Coach Siasia, he never had a fair chance. I do not see Coach Siasia not qualifying if he started this qualifiers with two chances for the top two teams of the group.

Yes he should just face the u20 and if he do very well then they can promote him to the U23, he need more work, exposure and time to grow up to that extent of handle a national senior team, this is not the right time to gamble with unsure coaches. Not just because he did very at underage competitions that we should start to hype him, Nooo. He still have a long way to go

Adi's goal disallowed as MLS champions Portland crash

Fanendo Adi

Fanendo Adi had a goal disallowed as MLS champions Portland Timbers crashed 4-1 at Orlando City.

Adi’s effort in the 43rd minute was cancelled and he was later replaced in the 58th minute.

It was Portland’s second loss of the new season and they now have four points from as many matches.

Last year, Adi scored 18 goals to help Portland clinch a historic MLS championship.

It was double what he had netted in 2014.

Iwobi agrees new bumper deal with Arsenal

Arsenal attacker Alex Iwobi

Nigeria youngster Alex Iwobi has agreed a new Arsenal contract which will pay him 30,000 pounds a week and will run till 2021, according to media reports.

According to the Mirror of London, this new deal overrides the previous deal he signed in October, which paid him 10,000 pounds and was to run till 2019.

Nineteen-year-old Iwobi has been rewarded with his stunning form which Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted has also surprised him.

He has started four of his club’s last five matches and followed his first goal at Everton with another strike against Watford at the weekend after he played his first official games for Nigeria.

Omeruo in Turkey

Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo has returned to action after he recovered from a groin injury which kept him out of AFCON qualifiers against Egypt last month.

The defender featured for his Turkish club Kasimpasa at the weekend in a 2-1 win over league leaders Besiktas.

Kasimpasa are seventh on the league table with 40 points in 27 games, while Besiktas lead the standings with 63 points.

The Chelsea loanee’s last game was a league game on March 14, when Kasimpasa lost 1-0 to Sivasspor.

Omeruo is now expected to return to Chelsea at season's end as Kasimpasa will not take up the option to buy him on a permanent basis.

Emenike can't crack it in England as West Ham let him go

Emenike

Nigeria striker Emmanuel Emenike will return to Turkish club Fenerbache at season’s end as English Premier League club West Ham will not make his loan deal a permanent one.

Compatriot Victor Moses will also return to parent club Chelsea from ‘The Hammers’ after a season-long loan.

According to Sky Sports, Emenike, who joined up in January, will be allowed to leave after scoring two goals in the FA Cup against Blackburn Rovers and has yet to find the back of the net in the league.

Earlier reports that West Ham would take up an option to buy him outrightly were therefore wide off the mark.

Victor Moses, on the other hand, has been a lot more impressive for the London club despite being sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring injury, starting 11 matches and scoring in a 2-1 win at Manchester City.

Tough 2018 W’Cup Draw Looms For S’Eagles

The prospect of Super Eagles getting a favourable 2018 World Cup qualifying draws is fading following
the teams poor showing on the FIFA Rankings released on Thursday.

In the rankings, Super Eagles dropped five spots to 67 in the world and 14 in Africa. Nigeria was ranked 62 in the world and 11 in Africa last February.
With FIFA set to group teams based on their rankings, Super Eagles 14 placing in Africa means it is not going to be one of the top ranked African teams.

And the poor ranking is because of the team poor
showing both at the CHAN tournament and its failure
to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt, which eliminated Nigeria from the Nations Cup, moved up nine places to 44 in the world and is now among the top five teams in Africa.

This latest ranking will now enhance Egypt’s chances to be among the top five seeds when the World Cup draw holds on June 24.

Nigeria, on the other hand, will find itself in a World
Cup qualifying group that has at least two teams better ranked than it.

The 2018 World Cup qualifying tournament for Africa will begin in October with 20 teams drawn into five groups of four teams each with the overall winners advancing to the final tournament in Russia.

Nigeria has featured at five World Cups thus far –
1994, 1998, 2002, 2010 and 2014.

Meanwhile, Algeria moved up four spots to place 33 to lead the continent, while African champions, Cote d’ Ivoire maintain its second spot ahead of Ghana, Senegal, Egypt climbing nine positions to 34.

Cape Verde, Tunisia, DR Congo, Guinea, Congo,
Cameroon and Morocco occupy 6th to 12th positions respectively, while Mali and Nigeria are ranked 13th and 14th on the continent.

In the world, Argentina moved to the number one
spot after former leaders, Belgium dropped to the
second position. Chile is third, while Colombia, Germany, Spain, Brazil and Portugal are placed fourth to eighth in that order.

Uruguay and England completed the top 10 ranking in the world. The next FIFA ranking is expected to come out on May 05, 2016.

Iwobi, Abdullahi, Aluko Score; Oshaniwa Sees Red, Ikeme Keeps Clean Sheet

—Oduamadi, Nwakali Debut; Orelesi Shines In Albania

By Johnny Edward:
Alex Iwobi scored his second league goal of the season for Arsenal who avenged their FA Cup ouster to Odion Ighalo’s Watford with a 4-0 thumping at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday..
The Nigerian international provided an assist for Alexis Sanchez to open scoring for the Gunners in the fourth minute and the Chilean repaid with a fine cut-back for the 19-year-old to score with a simple finish before the interval.
His compatriot Ighalo was replaced during the interval as his goal drought in the Premier League extended to eight games. Ighalo has scored 14 EPL goals in 32 games for the Hornets this season.
At Villa Park Mikel Obi returned to Chelsea’s starting line-up after playing 180 minutes of international football for the Super Eagles who missed out on next year’s African Cup of Nations.
The new Eagles skipper played all 90 minutes as the Blues cruised to a 4-0 bashing of Aston Villa in his 19th EPL appearance this season.
Emmanuel Emenike made his fourth start for West Ham who drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace. He has played seven games for the Hammers in the EPL since arriving at the club in January and nine in all competitions.
His compatriot Victor Moses watched from the bench as West Ham hosted his boyhood club. He has made 16 appearances, scoring once.
In the Championship, Sone Aluko scored his third goal of the season for Hull City who thumped Osaze Odemwingie’s Bristol City 4-0 at the Kingston stadium on Saturday. His former national teammate, Odemwingie, was replaced in the 65th minute by Luke Freeman.
Carl Ikeme kept his eighth clean sheet of the season for Wolverhampton Wanderers who drew goalless at home to Ipswich Town. Ikeme has conceded 32 goals in 26 appearances for Wolves this season.

In Germany, Anthony Ujah extended his goal drought to five games in the Bundesliga after he failed to score in Werder Bremen’s 3-2 loss to Borrusia Dortmund on Saturday. He was replaced in the 86th minute by Lukas Froede.

Exclusive: Samson Siasia Lobbying Top Politicians To Retain Super Eagles Job

Exclusive: Samson Siasia Lobbying Top Politicians To Retain Super Eagles Job
Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia is lobbying top politicians in his bid to retain the Super Eagles job, which is against the wishes of the President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick.

The former Nantes striker has always maintained that he never lost a match during his first spell as the Super Eagles helmsman but didn’t prove he was qualified for the job in the present dispensation, with the national team picking only one point from a possible six against Egypt and failing to qualify for the 2017 African Cup of Nations.

“Siasia has made contact with politicians to help him retain the job, it is the same thing he did when Goodluck Jonathan was the President but I don’t think he’ll succeed this time,” a source at the Nigeria Football Federation told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“Several foreign coaches have applied for the vacant Super Eagles job, including Westerhof and a German but Pinnick is hell-bent on appointing Paul Le Guen and didn’t even bother taking a look at the CVS of other candidates.

“Some top staff at the NFF wanted Siasia to fail when he was appointed interim coach, so they can look for an excuse to appoint a foreigner.”

Against Egypt in Kaduna, history repeated itself with Mohamed Salah scoring in stoppage time to deny Nigeria a win just as was the case in the 2012 AFCON qualifier versus Guinea when Traore netted in added time which knocked the Super Eagles out of the race.

The Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, is not totally against the idea of Pinnick hiring an expatriate coach per se but has told the NFF supremo that he must source for funds to pay the foreigner.
