Some Guys Can Be Really Messy by Nyceguy92(op): 1:12am On Apr 10, 2016

Ever seen a guy on the street, seemingly well dressed?
Naturally, you project your mind to his habitat and come out with a picture of beauty and decorum.
Well, this may be true in some cases, not in others.

The environment in which some guys live can be disgusting.
Or how does one explain the fact that a grown man cannot keep his house/room tidy so they look like kiddies playground?

I visited a guy some time ago and I didn't like what I saw.
He had heaps of dirty clothes on the bed...
I had to haul his clothes off the chair before I could sit.
At a point, I saw him retrieve an underwear from under the mattress.

When I went to use his bathroom, there were several dry splashes of toothpaste on his mirror
And the floor? The cobwebs and hair accumulation on the floor must have dated back to the previous year.
Of course, I had to stand on my toes to avoid soiling my socks.

Naturally, the thinking is that men try to maintain a cleaner, ordered environment when they are dating.
I know a guy whose girlfriend would tidy up his messy rooms, kitchen, bathroom and clothes when she visited.
The next time around, it was like girl did nothing.
After putting up with the lifestyle and unsuccessful to get the guy to change, she left him.

Does it have to take the presence of a girlfriend for a guy to live neat and clean?
Are guys just plain lazy or is it how they were brought up?

It's the way they were brought up. But even so, a grown up man should have the common sense to discern right from wrong.

Picking up a broom or mop to clean up after himself wouldn't kill him.

Some women enable this mindset in men though. The number 1 culprits are mothers who bring up their sons to think domestic chores are the exclusive preserve of females.

No 2 culprits: Desperate single women wanting that ring by all costs. Forming superwoman and having the wrapped belief that a potential candidate / good future wife is determined by her domestic skills.

Someone told me that I need a man even if it is to fix bulbs. I felt like slapping him. I need a man to make babies, for intimacy but to fix a bulb shocked

Ladies should be smart. If on your first couple of visits to his pad you see it's no different to a landfill site, take to your heels and never look back.

I do both. I terribly miss being able to plant yams, corn, Ugwu (pumpkin leaves), etc

I work hard. Very hard. So I expect my man to match or surpass my efforts. Anything less is totally unacceptable (unless of course he is physically / mentally incapacitated).

I enjoy physical work. We used to have a garden with lots of veggies, ewedu etc. It was compulsory to work in it regardless of your gender.

I painted some parts of the house my father wanted. My brother wasn't interested. I do stuffs that normal human being should and can do.

I do understand that people hate some chores, it is normal. But you just can't hate looking after yourself because it is not man/woman like. Where is the logic in that?

Some of them do change after marriage but there is hardly any issue on this earth that can't be resolved or frustrated.

poor upbringing no doubt. why in heavens name would your apartment look like a landfill where LAWMA dumps refuse.

some girls own are even worse. can remember back in varsity days, we used to call the female hostels poultry, and not because we call girls chicks but because the smell oozing from their corridors could knock out a Buffalo. lol.
