Please house, is it a must that I must change my naira to dollars from Nigeria? What if I can change it to dirham from Nigeria, will the immigration guys disturb me at the MMA? I considered I might lose a lot converting my naira to dollars here in Nigeria and still going to convert the dollars to dirhams in uae. Please advise me on what to do. Thanks

My experience at the MMIA just two days ago: I left home with a trolley bag and a back pack. On getting to the first checkpoint: my trolley weighed 6 kg more than the max allowable limit which is 30kg. It means I have excess and will have to pay 30$/kg (unverified). I stood arms akimbo while the next person is being attended. Then I asked the checking officer what could de done, he said he doesn't know. So I told him I am willing to see the Qatar Airline office where the payment will be made. He smiled and pulled me to a corner. Give me 5k and I will assist he said, I responded I only have 2k. We settled at 3k. He got a GMG bag, remove some of my things from the trolley and put in the GMG bag and that was it. He said I will have to carry the GMG bag with me while the trolley is kept with other loads. Onto the next one
I be JJC naa, I fall mugu for my country: I didn't know I could carry another bag plus my backpack.

I had just $100 on me with my card: so I was asked to producevmy PTA, I told them the bank did not give me (it's actually unavailable at banks). The officer laughed and told me I will have to produce it before he allow me pass. Again another impasse, so I dip my hands in my pocket pull out a 2k smiling at him. He smiled back, return my docs and onto the next one.

What are you going to do in doha was the next question. I laughed put a 1k in the docs and hand them over. He fumed and return it saying h I not here for that and referred me to his boss. My mind skipped several beats, I met his boss who asked me the same question. I repackage, switch mode to Queens English and answered that I got an employment stated on the Visa. He asked where is my offer letter and I retorted that it is in my mailbox. He insisted he has to see it. Just then a female officer approached, she assessed me and asked what the issue is. I kept it simple still in Queens and explained to her. She laughed at me and said I should stop speaking Oyibo and do normal. Then I deep my hands in my pocket brought 2k, she protested so I made it 3k then I moved on. Onto the next one.
The next one asked for offer letter '4 my mind offer letter again'. No time for queens, I did the dip and offer 1k. We both smiled and moved on to the next.
This next one ask for both PTA and offer letter: kai where I want start!. Just then I receive a call from the bank that my Western Union request ha been processed and the details sent on whatsapp. So I showed it to the officer and deep for 1k.
At this point I knew I had just 2k left. I don't know how many more points left to go. Then a young guy approached me and told me that he can assist me get through every other checks at no cost, all I need do is give him whatever. I agreed and we went through three other points unchallenged. And straight to the waiting point to board the flight. I gave the guy 1k from which he got me a cold bottle of water. Till I board the flight, I refuse to leave the seat so that no other person will challenge me. I know my level: no PTA, no offer letter...na them sabi

I do change my naria to dollars and in dubai I change it to dirhams but the last time I travel to south Africa was in MMA to change rands but the lady say she hv only dirhas so was don't no I can change from MMA so try traveless in MMA and see if u can changes but the problem now is if them don't hv u need to buy black market in airport and that will not pay u at all

Omo them don magu this guy oooo lol my first time I no drop #1 but an going for business trip so I hv my BTA sha I dey ask how much is my BTA I use mouth tell them how much I carry next change ur money to 5 5 hundreds pls so u no go too AY magu money for airport u are to carry 50kg u chk in 40 20 20 and carry 10 plan

please I want to get something straight. Were you extorted because you don't have a BTA or because you are a fresh traveller? I will be travelling in couple of days... will they still try to extort me even when I have my BTA with me? Please reply.... Thanks

Blv me, you aren't a fool for doing such because this immigration officers are hungry ppl who will delay u unnecessarily till you miss your flight. (Yes! They have different charges they can bring against you and that's their game there).

I will alws advise first timer to hold naira just incase even if we know the money is illegal but we can't allow them to "pour sand in our garri"

Mid last year when I went home, I was disturbed when going back after checking my residence card and visa stamps. The lady first tot I was a first timer cos my passport fresh for back not knowing stamps in my passport can paint her house.

They searched my bags and my 'red oil' was seized, they wanted to seize the wines I bought for my boss too but I told them I will rada leave all my bags for them than to seize those wines. they asked me to go and declare it in one mumu office like that. If not for my gf that gave them 2k to leave me, we will dig it cos I knew the wines aren't against what I can travel with.

They tot it was 2012 when they took 10k from me while I was shaking and stammering due to silly questions they were asking me left and right.

that is the only document m been shown........ i did not c the contract agreement. and wat am bn told is dat its not a menial job

That's why you need to Thumbprint because it's a menial Job, Thumb printing simply means you are letting Ministry of Labor know that you weren't forced to accept the Job contract. So tell the agent to send the contract for you to read because if you thumbprint on that contract that says fourth/fifth Level then it means the agent is not telling the truth.

If the Job isn't menial Job then your contract should be written First/Second/Third skill Level.

A asked me to cancel and join them but B said I have to cancel and exit the country. A is in free zone while B is in labour zone. What are my chances of coming back with a visit visa after I exit ? And what other way can I use to escape ban from labour.??

Just got result for my medical. That stuff is creepy as hell. I hope most of us here will endeavour to take medical screening in Nigeria before coming here. The way the Arab guy was behaving I thought I had something. May The GOOD LORD FORBID though. Kai.

Go through the first contract you signed and see the conditions
In my contracts its stated that you can leave during your probation period without notice or your employer can terminate your employment without notice, then after 6 months you have to give one month notice before resignation or termination as the case may be...

Since company A is free zone, then there won't be any ban if you leave Company B. But I'll advice you to atleast complete 6 months probation period with your present company to avoid stories that touch.

This is the drill, when you finish your medical and they did not call you up after 48 hours, go and drink juice and sleep... All is well
If they call you that they have to do a rerun, start crying in your heart and gather small money from friends and well wishers cos you might be going home...
When you are being called back, they will either place one on treatment, do some confirmatory tests, if positive for some illness, quarantine and deportation
