Massive Protest Ongoing In Uniport by Nobody: 7:18am On Apr 11, 2016
The Students of Uniport have today 11 Monday embarked on a peaceful protest against the University Management.

Below are their reasons.

* The school management is insensitive to the conspicuous economic realities.

* No student should repeat a class because of the trickle effect of a bad economy. Why should a student be forced to agree to repeat a whole session when we all know that a large percentage of those that have graduated are jobless? Which right thinking human being would want to elongate his/her days of struggling?

* We know that education in the real sense is not absolutely free but we also know that we should not be forced into illiteracy because we do not have money according to the preponderance of section 18 subsection 2C of the 2011 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria which says and I quote
"Government shall direct its policy towards ensuring that there are equal and adequate educational opportunities at all levels.
Government shall strive to eradicate illiteracy ; and to this, Government shall provide free university education". (End of quote)

* We have been considerate with the school management amidst inadequate learning facilities and repugnant infrastructural facilities and so they should be considerate with the financial constraints.

* Some students painstakingly self-fund themselves through school and they can't be oblivious of that fact. What will happen to them? Should they commit suicide?

* The University is a federal institution and not a private liability company.
The fundamental essence for the creation of the federal universities was for it to act as palliatives in making education accessible to all especially the poor. And as such, Uniport should not be used as a money-making venture.

* No student can ever graduate without paying all the outstanding tuition in full. So why increase their burdens? Why fix deadlines?

* I have paid my fees because I have the means to pay but I can't watch my friends become societal ignoramuses just because they can't afford to pay their fees as at when due. I can't allow them to become my own liabilities tomorrow.
