Subsidy should be removed and the money diverted to something more productive. 95 Naira is not that much. We cannot be spoonfed all in the name of making the economy better. The masses may feel it at first, but then again, we'll get used to it. The subsidy thing coming back is a very bad move. An avenue to put resources to waste.

Where is Wole Soyinka, Tunde Bakare, Femi Falana, Tinubu and Buhari?

When I see Ipob call you Nigerians Zombies I get angry but now they are vindicated.

I pity Yorubas. Let's see if Buhari will apologise to PDP and Nigerians for saying that their is nothing like subsidy.

This government is a fraud

The person who wrote this article didnt understand the removal of subsidy by Kachikwu.

As at when subsidy was removed and retail price was set at N86.5, the actual cost of landing PMS was less than the retail price. That meant Nigerians paid more than the should right from the word go. A fund was set up to save the difference so that whenever price goes above the retail price, the fund will be used in offsetting the balance we should have paid instead of paying subsidy from government coffers.

Subsidy can only be paid when that fund has been exhausted and landing price is still above retail price.

Kachikwu's plan was to review the retail price upwards when the funds is exhausted.

If that fund is not exhausted, then there is no subsidy. If the fund is exhausted and the retail price is not reviewed, then and only then will NNPC pay subsidy.

Its either the reporter and his editor are not well read or they are just being mischievious.

In my opinion, the subsidy regime cannot be sustained. In as much as The FG wants to alleviate the people's suffering, they should find a way to end this subsidy thing in no distant time.

If all the independent marketers sold pms at their pumps for 86.50 naira rather than 180-210 naira.
Why would people queue endlessly at pumps of major marketers including nnpc mega stations struggling to purchase pms at 86.50 naira.

let me give you a summarized brief your capacity can comprehend, The Total landing cost, production and distribution cost during GEJ 's time per litre was far below the offer for a litre of fuel at the Filling stations the Govt at that time , Yet the government claimed it was subsidized and billions were cornered to government cronies in the name of subsidies., this action was termed a fraud by the opposition at that time.

And the subsidy has to go.

If the subsidy goes...then we would be able to save lots of money, and use the money for other things....like salaries and infrastructure projects.

Also, fuel marketers would be able to make enough money to buy the dollars needed to import. And make profits too.

Let's be frank....oil subsidy must go,if fuel must flow.

u keep repeating urself over n over again n na verbatim.
u dey prepare ur views keep?
thr is no fuel subsidy according to nnpc, we r now in price modulation era.

If crude oil price is falling & naija pump price is increasing which sounds abnormal to me.
What will happen when crude oil hits $100 from the current 36-40$ per barrel?
Something seems fishy

Brox let's assume you are right. Answer this question
How much was a barrel of crude oil then & how much is it now?. Cox if @ $100 we pay 86# then at 40+$ we still pay same #86 look through your analysis and reframe the statement cox its elementary mathematics

Anyway back to the matter, I still remember during d last administration d APC made it clear Nigerians were paying too much for fuel considering the falling price of crude oil. Today crude is lower dan it was then and nothing seems to have changed except for worse.. Now dey are wearing the shoes and know where it pinches, dey are blaming the shoemaker.

The subsidy cash is not enough for marketers to import fuel....AND to pay their debts incurred from non-payment of subsidy arreas from the last admin.

Hence the high prices. They have a business to run after all.
