Lagos-Calabar Supposed Rail Route Crossing Into SE Is A FAT LIE!!! by Nobody: 12:00am On Apr 14, 2016
I have seen numerous doctored drawing of the Lagos-Calabar Rail route supposedly crossing into SE...THIS IS A LIE! SW people are employing this shenanigan to resurrect the project by deceiving SE people that the Rail will cross into SE..precisely at Onitsha! This is a fathom Lie! I'm getting accurate information from someone at the National Assembly that the real reason why they excise the project from the primary budget is...MARGINALIZED SE; WILL NOT CROSS INTO SE. Indirectly speaking, when you marginalized SE, you marginalize SS economically as both regions trade more compared to other regions. So rather, they moved to Supplementary Budget...explanation below!

You people have to understand how Federal Budget works...Every region has a stipulated amount cap they can submit in the budget; If SS primarily and SE did allow this project into the main budget, then SS will be short-changed heavily... why? Because 80 Billion Naira cost; China footing 20 billion naira actually, if apportioned between SW and SS is a huge cost for SS... when compared to SW, where Federal Budget for Lagos only is total of all SS; The senators having done their cost-benefit analysis of the project for SE and SS, came to the conclusion that it wasn't feasible and will not be beneficial to SE and SS. So rather than have the project in the main budget which will mean removing critical, life-changing projects in SS in order to accommodate it, they agreed and chose to move it to the supplemental budget at no cost to SS, where the president by discretion/executive leverage chooses projects to fund with federal funds...more like earmarked funds! The question now becomes...Will Buhari include the project in his supplementary budget? I doubt because he would have to remove 80 billon naira worth of projects in the North for his people to include it because he has a cap too...that's what SS and SE senators want him to do...Lol! Smart game by Eastern senators as it would be a win-win for the region! Even Ameachi consented to this by moving it to the supplemental!

To SW people...stop selling lies to us. Please stop! The project wasn't removed as has been circulating online with deceptive doctored route into SE but rather was moved from main budget to supplementary. We are not against the project, we...SW, SS and SE all want the project but has to be funded via supplementary budget only in order not to bankrupt SS...SE is just looking after SS!

Below is the actual image of the Lagos-Calabar Rail route by the Nigeria Coastal Railway...as you can see, it doesn't cross into SE as they are claiming. Their intent behind this deceptive, doctored supposed rail crossing into SE...is to deceive SE to support the project! Our SE and SS senators are not stu$pid...they analyzed the project critically on its benefits to SE and SS. None for now to have it in the main budget!

Everything in Nigeria is turned to foolish politics and every emeka, tunde and yusuf myopically becomes a political theorist, albeit dumb ones. What have Nigerian youths been turned into for Christ sake? How did the minds of Nigerian youths get so depraved to even think in this manner?... For all those in this thread saying they do not want a high speed rail, you guys should kindly speak for daft selves; there are many who need it.

Op, the proposed rail passes through the entire SS region and it passes the SE city of Aba before getting to PH. There is also a spur from benin to Asaba and Onitsha. Quit playing dumb politics with everything.

I knew something was up when SW were the ones ganging up on SS,and SE senators for not supporting the rail. I had a huge feeling, they had to have a good reason beside the claims of "PDP vs APC".

Thanks OP for this

What sort of railway project, maliciously taunted to benefit the SE/SS/SW regions, and yet its track is so designed not to traverse a good portion of SE but rather crafted to just kiss the fringes thereof?

This is no matter of claiming Igbo on NL just to garner cheap likes from likeminded beings, for comments devoid of sound judgement and reasoning...

@op, where did you come across this your geographical rail map. Mind you, the SE and SS senators are now backing the federal government to ensure the project gets into the budget and not the supplementary budget.

The Op just said it was in the primary budget while some people still insist it was never in the primary budget. Some people are still confuse and not yet convinced .

ALWAYS GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT.

The worst of it all is that they are proposing to build the rail line by loan which by my guess since the rail line will not be sustainable will become a drain on the important resources from the Niger delta.

Niger delta should fight such a foolish proposal and insist that the loan should be taken to upgrade the sea port in Calabar to a deep sea port.

This will be worse than the 1970 scam where the oil companies headquarters were relocated to Lagos from port Harcourt and Niger deltans now became tenants over their resources.

Another huge scam would have been the olokola lng in ogun state which Jonathan ,Asari dokubo and tompolo blocked and prevented from coming to fruition. Guess where dangote is building his refinery and where the crude oil will be sourced from.

Amaechi has really betrayed Niger delta big time.

Nice response! I wouldn't even watch or listen to anything not stone on paper. Wasn't it the same way Buhari came to SE, verbally promised to immediately start Second Niger Bridge if elected...what did he do when he was elected? In fact, he did the opposite...stop all work barely 2 months in office. Till this day all work has been suspended! Same with Ikot-Ekpene-Umuahia- Aba and Itu-Calabar roads he had promised us he will kick start it, nothing yet...now almost year! These roads are dead traps...impending trade and commerce to and fro Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Abia!

Well said. Looking carefully at the rail route...it cuts across all major oil producing states...Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom, borderline of Imo and Abia states...all oil states! Is this by coincidence? Absolutely not...somebody is try to lift oil in bulk oil rail tankers from Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom, Abia and Imo STRAIGHT TO LAGOS PORTS FOR EXPORT!

SE and SS wake up people. This money can be used as you said to revamp Calabar, Rivers and Warri seaports!

Op Yorubas don't need igbos to get anything rather the igbos are the one that need the Yorubas, the igbos are the one that always need other region to be relevant, for example just watch how you have to join the SS with Igbos to make your your argument thick, whereas if the rail does not pass through SE it definitely must pass through SS because it is a Lagos-Calabar link rail so you shouldn't have join SS in your argument if not for the insecurity and inferiority complex that has always bedevil an average igbo. Beside if the rail does not pass through SE then so be it, if the igbos feel marginalised so be it. One thing that is synonymous with Igbos is HATE.

I was wondering why the proposed routes touch at least one town or more in the entire SS but only two places Aba n Onitsha in the SE. The SW has this rail line running through both from the Kano route and the proposed Lagos-Calabar route. Why is that? Do other SE states not qualify for rail services?

See how one has to squint to see its infinitesimal passage through Aba but you can see it meandering through Yenagoa-Otuoke-Yenagoa again before it continues.

I opened this thread for people like you and many others so they can know what's going on....there are no stop stations in SE. Absolutely none in Onitsha...it's a lie. If I haven't opened this thread, they will telling us that it goes to Onitsha! The claim of Aba is also a carefully packaged lie...it cuts across Abia on the border with Akwa Ibom some where in the jungle not necessarily in Aba!
