Abagworo:

You wrote this same nonsense before 2015 elections and I told you that Rochas would win virtually everywhere in Imo State. True to my words he won 21 out of 27 LGAs to beat PDP's inflated votes. Lie never triumphs over truth.

I know of only one road which has not been completed which is one lane of old Orlu/Owerri Road to ITC park. So can you list other roads?

Orlu LGa is the most-populated and largest vote-bearing lga outside Owerri Municipality. Orlu voted Rochas for second term with the hope he would complete the roads and projects abandoned, and which are inflicting people with dust and diseases in the whole of Orlu.

Okorocha won second term and has not done even a scratch of more than 100 meters on those abandoned roads in Orlu, not to talk of other projects also abandoned.

You have shown this Amaigbo/Ihioma road dualized with the school built by Okorocha several times, for your info, there are two or three other short roads he dualized in Orlu, but that is not what Orlu should get from its Local govt federal allocations of five years of Okorocha govt. It's unfair.

Okorocha is finishing his political career by satisfying only a section of Imo state - Owerri, take that to the CBN.

Imo to represent Nigeria in Slovakia for the 2016 world schools debate

Students from Imo state will be representing Nigeria in the 2016 World Schools Debate that will hold in Slovakia late this year. The students qualified to represent the country in the inter-continental academic event after they had emerged the overall winner at the president’s Inter-SUBEBS debate completion in the country.

Miss Precious Nnabugo, precious Etoh, Favour Nneji, Oluebube Duru and Goodness Nwanebu had represented Imo state in the President’s Inter-SUBEBS Debate Competition and they came first out of the thirty six states in the country that took part in the academic venture, with the team and their handlers visiting Governor Rochas Okorocha, Monday, March 28, 2016 to inform him about the lofty development.

Addressing the students and their coordinators, Governor Okorocha commended them for doing the state proud and also urged them to do the nation proud by emerging the best in Slovakia, stressing that their winning the President’s Inter-SUBEBS Debate competition was a victory for Imo people and a kind of vote of confidence in the free education programme of his administration.

Governor Okorocha’s words, “let me say first of all, how happy I am that in my time my children will be representing the entire nation outside the country. This is a victory for me, victory for Imo people and victory for the free education programme of the state.”

He continued, “There is no other way to explain this development than to say, it is the outcome of the free education programme of the state. It is a feat. I charge you to go and conquer the world for the nation, as you conquered the nation for the state. Go and shine in Slovakia.”

To encourage the students to do well in Slovakia, the governor promised to give them scholarship to study in any country of their choice if they come first.

The coordinator, Mrs.Adim Madumere Chinwe had earlier commended the governor for the free education programme, promising to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the team shines in Slovakia to the extent of emerging victorious.

Ejike, imo state is useless, worthless and broke. 95% of your state people are poor. Your government is broke and hopeless that they cannot even pay ordinary salary for several months despite the huge loan hanging on the state. So how can you appreciate something like portable water. Almost all the roads in imo state are terribly bad. cheesy

We have done the battle of most exposed people and just few of Anambrans I showcased here has proved that you guys are our slaves. We have been running things as the pacesetters in academics, research, politics, etc since 1960.

1/3rd of your state people are residents in Anambra and there is no single Anambran resident in your dead imo state. What does that mean to you, poor hopeless slaves. cheesy

You and I know fully well that Onitsha in particular has 95% of its roads untarred and mostly unaccessible during rainy season. Why don't you go demand for at least 30% tarred roads in that slum instead of wasting your time on a city with 95% well paved roads and beautiful environment.

Its true you might get 10 to 20 untarred roads in all of Owerri as against 1500 good ones while Onitsha has only 10 to 20 tarred roads against 1500 dirt and muddy roads.
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by AstraNetwork: 4:31pm On Apr 14, 2016
Owerri is a rural town compare to Onitsha with worldclass roads and infrastructures compare to the rural town of Owerri. Onitsha is a greener pasture for Imolites that crave to leave Imo state by all means. If not 1/3rd of Imolites would not invaded the city for their survival. At least 98% of the roads in Owerri are terribly bad. with filth all over the town. Pictures don't lie. Let us do the game!

This is Owerri.

Owerri is a complete jungle, a total slum with lots of shanties. This is the outlook of the generality of Owerri(1 & 2). Compare it to the aerial view of Onitsha(3 & 4).

BG Technical Inaugurates First Pipeline Pigging Products Factory in West Africa in Imo State
April 12, 2016

Ejiofor Alike

BG Technical Limited, 100 per cent indigenous firm has completed and inaugurated first pipeline, pigs and accessories factory in Nigeria and West Africa.

The inauguration of the factory located in Owerri, Imo State, was performed at the weekend by the Acting Executive Secretary of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Mr. Patrick Daziba and the Group General Manager of the National Petroleum and Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), represented by Mr. James Jock.

The factory is expected to generate foreign exchange for Nigeria and help to provide quality products for the maintenance of pipeline so as to prolong life span and reduce cases of pipeline rupture as well as leakages.

The Executive Secretary of NCDMB, represented by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation Mr. Tunde Adelana disclosed that the multibillion Naira factory was another evidence and validation that the efforts of the board was paying off in real terms in the oil and gas industry. This, he said is another attestation to the fact that Nigerians can develop the required industry capability once the enabling environment is in place.

“The opening of the factory is indeed worthy of celebration. Looking back at the years of pre-NOGICD Act, investors like B.G Technical would probably not be able to compete in the area of pigging services due to the preponderance of foreign goods and services,” he noted.

“ I would like to encourage other companies across sector to always strive to develop their capacities and capabilities-human and structural-as the focus of local content development is not to compromise quality but to ensure that work done by local companies can compete with that of their counterparts in any part of the world,” he added.

In his speech, Jock, said NNPC had the mandate to utilise local resources in the execution of projects in the upstream sector in line with the NOGIC Act.

“ My commitment from NAPIMS is that we are going to support B.G Technical so that the investment made to domesticate technology and create jobs in-country would not go down the drain,” he said.
The Chairman of Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN), Bank-Anthony Okoroafor said the opening of the factory owned by one of the members was a plus for the association as frontline in the push for domestication of technology in Nigerian oil and gas industry.
He said the association was happy with one of the members making such a huge investment as the only way to empower Nigerians.

“This is the only way Nigeria can grow her gross domestic product (GDP), preserve the foreign currency earnings and create jobs for the populace. It is an exciting time and PETAN will continue to dedicate time and resources needed to promote domesticate technology,” he assured.

In his remarks, the General Manager, Nigerian Content, Shell Petroleum Development Company Mr. Chiedu Oba commended the management and staff of B.G Technical for the commitment towards the establishment of the factory with huge resources at a time of economic downturn.

Earlier in his address, the Managing Director B.G Technical, Mr. Geoff Onuoha said the factory was initiated to bring an end to the importation of pipeline pigging products, boost availability of mainly quality products and help to preserve foreign exchange earnings for operators and the federal government.
Onuoha lamented that the challenge facing indigenous manufacturers in Nigeria was that it was cheaper to transport goods from United Kingdom (UK) to Gabon than from Nigeria to Gabon because of the bottlenecks of export from getting regular transport.

“Between UK and Gabon there are possibly three to four cargo flights a week. While between Nigeria and Gabon there is no cargo flight. So, cargo flight drops your cost drastically. Those are things that count and I believe with time those factors militating against us will become a thing of the past overcome,” he added.
