Good evening precious Mums in the house. Please who has used Island maternity in Lagos for antenatal and delivery? Please I need reviews about the place, what's thier fee like, efficiency and relationship with patients? Please help a FTM.

I read some not too good reviews about them over the internet, including nairaland ... even my mum warned me not to use them...
but my very good friend is using them, and she says they are ok...
I think you should Google for reviews and still ask people too...

you'll go with your spouse, you'll pay #100 and he'll donate a pint of blood (I think), but some people do corner corner and pay for it; about 7k... then you'll give your details for registration...
you'll be given a date to come back in 2weeks to do your registration, with about 12,500 or 13,000...
You'll be given a mosquito net and sitz bath and your appointment date with the doctor...

My friend says they are very friendly and accommodating... but still ask other people oh...

My BirthStory

EDD was 4th April

On the 31st March at 11 pm, I started having 30 minutes apart backache and the urge to poo, didn't know it was contraction, FF to 1 am my mucus plug started coming off in bits and by then the pain had become intense like strong menstrual pain, told my mum and sis(they were in the house) we prayed etc and they told me its contractions and my baby trying to make her way out. By then the contractions were now 10-9 mins apart. I kept on bearing it, would walk around the sitting room, had a hot bath, seat but at a point I just started crying and asking my mum why it was so painful. FF to 5am, we left the house to the hospital, got admitted, baby's heartbeat was checked and I was checked as well, was told I was just 2cm( I have a feeling the doc didn't check me well) not long after then, the contractions became 2mins apart, told my mum I wanted to poo, so I went to the loo but didn't pass out anything so I decided to have a hot bath, Immediately after I had the urge to poo again, this time my mum called the nurse, she check me and said I was 7cm and this was around 7am, then the contractions became stronger and painful, I would cry in between and question my mum why it was so painful. Few mins later I had this strong urge to poo, I told the nurse this is for real, was checked and had fully dilated, was transferred to the delivery bed and asked to push when ever I had to urge to poo, but was weak by then, after like 4 pushes I became tired but when they screamed that they could see my baby's head, it motivated me to push with my last strength, was given episiotomy as that place was very tight. My princess came out 1/4/16 at 8:06am. The placenta came out like 10 mins later, was asked to cough twice. I was numbed and stitched up but I still felt pain o. In all I give thanks cos I alwaYs prayed for short labour and got it.

I doubt if you can still use the highchair for your almost 2years child cos she will likely be trying to climb down when you put her Der. I stopped using mine for my daughter around 18months. Just buy and keep for new baby.

edd was 17 according to lmp,on Monday 11th I saw my doc ND told him all dates from scan has passed he jus laughed at me ND said he works with natural date Wch is lmp so it's nt yet time.I got home ND was waiting for d glorious 17.meanwhile scan I did April ist said baby weigh is 4.05kg already I was a bit scared Cus 17 was still far away. I started starving myself fear of big baby,taking long works as well.ND was thinking wat d weight will be at birth still doc said d weight already doesn't matter. so on Wednesday 13th I woke up abt 4am to pee ND I saw show(mucus plug)afterwards mild waist pain started at 6am we headed to d hospital,got there ND was checked (dat checking tins de pain ni,dem nurse will jus be shooking as tho its nothing))dey said have nt dilated at all dat I should go home ND cme bk wen d pain intensify I refused bcus I already brought all my stuff even carried flask wit hot water self.. to me sins have seen show ND having pains na to born remain.I told dem I will wait dat my house is far ND labor might be fast,I waited, pain was still there went to meet dem abt 3hrs later,de checked again ND said I was jus a tip dilated dat I Shld go home ND do exercise till I feel strong pains,called dh he said I should go home so I left with all my many stuff a bit disappointed.got home ND d pain reduced dat evening d pain started again ND was getting stronger I was then thinking if to go back to d hospital or jus wait till morning dh was like wat abt if it becomes very serious at mid night?so abt 9pm we met a nurse around to jus check me so we knw if am dilating at all she did check ND said just tip so we said we'll wait till morning.at mid night d pain came ND I couldn't sleep anymore it was as if my waist was pulling out after a while I started throwing up all I ate.I threw up abt 4times Bfor day break,dh was jus there packing d mess Cus I couldn't even gt up to use d loo.I beared d pain all thru d night,I didn't sleep till morning. 14th at abt 6am we headed to d hospital was checked ND told 5cm.d pain was becoming something else dh was happy ND said we have 5cm more to go(d guy nor knw Wetin my eye de see)at abt 8am,I went bk to meet dem ND was checked agn I was 9cm,dat was wen I got admitted ND straight to delivery bed.BP was chked,babys heartbeat was chked too ND I noticed nurse wasnt ok wit d readings.d nurse said she had to rupture d membrane completely ND behold baby slf Don poo poo(meconium). ist de gave me one drip like dat saline something wen it finished, nurse noticed contractions has reduced na so dem take give me oxytocin oh I was like nurse why oxytocin naaa am already 9cm gone,de were all surprised I knew wat oxytocin is ND d doc was like maybe dis woman na doctor oh Cus I had ideal on evrytin de were talking abt. tanks to preggy thread(nairaland) lol. d contractions picked up again ND pain continued.I was jus shouting awoooooo,Jesus ooooooo, it's painful ND de all laughed ND said so am still speaking English.so d matron said it's supposed to be painful naa pikin matter.my waist was something else then I strted shouting again I want to poo poo I wasn't really feeling d urge to poo,I jus needed d nurse attention ND she looked at me ND said it's a good sign,poo poo on d bed don't worry I will park it.na so I begin poo poo ND she came around ND told me it's time to push.agggghh I started pushing ND nothing was happening instead more poo was coming out.matron,nurse ND a doc was jus around my bed telling me to push dat baby head is already there.matron said push ur baby out in d name of Jesus, I continued pushing ND de increased d flow of oxytocin dat was how I pushed my baby out ND was given a tear.she came out weighing 3.4kg.nurse gave me injection to kill d pain Bfor stitching me up ND I kept smilling at d gift from God bcus I have won.devils been defeated.I became a mom.got to d hospital abt 6:30am ND Bfor 11am have delivered.
