@OP, How many fights have you been involved in since you were born?

Soyinka tasted prison as a 28 year old fighting injustice in 1962. He went to prison again for 3 years because of Biafra in 1967. Countless brushes with the govts since then.

Where were you in 2010 when he, bakare, odumakin etc were trekking under the sun for Jonathan to be set free from Turai's cage?

Were you not on earth when he was televised advising buhari to convene an economic summit?

You want an 82 year old man to be fighting your battle? Are you not ashamed? You stay on internet ranting everyday and you stay waiting for a grand father to keep fighting for your future. A 23 year old Tunisian started the Arab spring, what are you waiting for?

The man has paid his dues pls. Let him enjoy the few years he has left abeg.
God bless U bro. Am quite sure he has a grand father too. He shud go call them to stir the battle. Thoughtless being.

He was also vehement in his attack against the cabal that held GEJ hostage. He didn't start speaking against GEJ until 2012, over 2 years after he fought to have him enthroned. How long has buhari spent?

How many fights have you done beyond ranting on NL? How many times did you condemn any.of the wrong moves of GEJ?

Malala was 15, Enahoro was 22, Soyinka was 28. you too get out into the public and get your voice out.

You are missing the point. I'm not saying he should fight Buhari. You guys are always quick to defend Buhari's government and anything concerning him.
First and most importantly, lives are being lost. You can't keep quiet when women are children are being butchered up and down. These people have no voice. It's people like you and I, and of course the Soyinkas that have better influence. Not just Soyinka but our MOGs. Our MOGs have so much clout. Politicians troop in to see them. Why can't they use their influence for the general good of all ?
You that advise people to get out of the public to air their voice, I hope you know that you're also indicting yourself ? We thank God that you are in a safe area, probably in Lagos. But think about others who are facing Fulani herdsmen on a daily basis.

Some of the posters here re jokers.

Waiting for Uncle wole to speak. And before you know it, they re the same people that will tell you to leave Saraki alone!

U re a youth, full of energy. Save your country, save your motherland. U have got no other place.

Speak against the looters.

However, Uncle Wole is still observing. A wise man doesnt jump into conclusion. He will speak in due season!

Soyinka spoke up on the economy and because of him, the fg convened an economic summit. He spoke up on Biafra protests and kanu's detention. What else do you want him to do?

He's done his beat, let us do ours.

I voted buhari and I'm not happy at some issues but I won't join the paranoia and madness going on in the name of opposition.

Folks are wishing their country evil and they think they're opposing buhari?? Soyinka knows that's idiocy and I agree with him

Yes he campaign for GEJ an latter lambasted him.. he took to the street to register his disdain for fuel subsidy removal.. where was he when this Govt announced the removal of subsidy before bringing it on again?this Govt is subsiding fuel at 87 naira and we are buying at over 160. Where is he now when we are buying fuel at over 160 per litre even in Abuja? Falana is going to court to stop this government from taking more loans.
A man of integrity stands for what he believes at all times even if he doesn't favour him.
I ask again why is Prof Wole Soyinka silent? Has he suddenly gone dumb or sold his conscience and lost his voice to a pot of porridge?.

Maybe we should sacrifice you to the gods for money making rituals. So with the current realities you expect subsidy? How many times do you want Kachikwu to explain price modulation to you?

And you'll also call yourself a youth Soyinka should use his grey hair and tired body to fight for?

If the Amaechi dinner is your problem, your problem isn't Soyinka, its the lack of a proper education.

Any other observation?

It is good to see you acknowledge your error of saying he fought for an individual.

I don't believe that. The elders are not really as smart as we make them appear. Even fools become Elders.

You had better believe it. Not every old man/woman is an elder in this context. Going by your simplistic reasoning, we can say fools may become old persons, not elders.

Price modulation or not. The issue is that this Govt is paying over 9 naira per liter for subsidy and we are buying at over 160.. people like Wole should speak up.. he has a loud voice. If he has not sold out he shout speak up.
I have took the pages of 3 national dailies between 29jan - and 1st Feb to register my displeasure..with my name written on it. I am not a coward like u.. people in high places know who is speaking now.. they don't know u.. u are just a number (part of 170 million Nigerians).. so don't place yourself where u are obviously not.

The man is tired since you the youths have refused to take charge. He almost died fighting abacha while a young man called KANU was making money selling Nigerian youths to the guy.

He's talked. He complained about the economy. What else do you want? To join you in calling buhari a dullard?

God bless you for this post. I canvassed and voted for Buhari. Currently I'm not happy or satisfied with the situation in Nigeria including some actions and inactions of governments at the centre and in the States. But like you aptly put it, I can not, because of some ill-motivated parochial reasons begin to wish and profess evil on this country thinking I'm undoing Buhari or any other person.

OK. Get a little of education now. English, just like all other languages, is dynamic; so your theory rewriting the English language out of order, and hereby overruled.

Exactly. Hating buhari is OK but wishing evil on the country because of one man is idiocy on steroids.

I'm not even speaking you air head. Why is Soyinka your problem? Were you dead when his calls for an economic summit forced the govt to organise one?

Were you in a cave when he voiced his support for the Biafra protesters and asked the govt to give them audience? Why have you not called upon Alex Ekwueme? Or didn't he also condemn GEJ?

Once again, Soyinka isn't your problem if you don't understand what kachikwu means by price modulation. A lack of proper education is.

Did you know he saved N8.50/ltr from January to March? Yet you're bragging about your name in the papers.

Dunce!!

Its immaterial what I've done or not done.

What is immoral is casting aspersions on a man who spent his youth, money, freedom, prison time fighting for youths who would rather be on the internet arguing about the colours of tonto dikeh's panties.

I'm doing mine but since its not up to what Soyinka has done, I'll keep quiet and not join low lifes to insult him
