What advantages do 4G wireless networks have over 3G networks?

The simple answer is that a 4G network theoretically will have a higher data transfer rate. With the appropriate amount of spectrum and good network engineering, a Long Term Evolution (LTE)-based network has the potential to reach 100 Mbps, while a WiMAX network can top out at 70 Mbps.

A more complex answer is that a 4G wireless network is a pure data connection: that is, it is an end-to-end Internet Protocol connection. This provides some real advantages, but also some disadvantages. On the one hand, a smartphone simply becomes another data device whose native mode is as an Internet-enabled terminal and that can be managed as such.

On the other hand, services such as voice require some additional machinations to support effectively. Since voice is not intrinsically data-centric and must be converted to data before it can be transferred, voice-capable LTE handsets have been slow in coming.

This silly ntel has no details about this LTE.. What band does it use even? There are different kinds of LTE, for instance my HTC m8 has different LTE bands and we need to know the variant of phones to buy.

EDIT; they use LTE band 3

The marketing strategy this company employed is appaling. These guys shoulda flooded highly populated areas in lagos, abuja, port harcourt and kano with their sim cards. They need to be seen.

Who are they trying to sell th sim cards to in transccorp hotel?? Politicians?? who are more concerned with their next loot?? Or business men?? Who are less likely to change their numbers??
I don't think their system on ground is capable of running @ the highspeed they widely claim. So they are dishing out the sim in small numbers, so they can test run and see how strong their server can go.....maybe they fear a massive purchase of their speed can crash their 4g speed to 3g,hehe....even a nairalander who posted a screenshot of their data upload speed&download speed says its below the speed they marketed. No mind them , dem no wetin dem dey do

The advantage is that it's faster than what MTN, GLO, Airtel, Etisalat, have to offer.

If it's correct 4G LTE, it would be 20 times faster than other networks when you browse. If they deliver a quality LTE service as promised, it would put other networks out of business- at least for data services.

But, of course, MTN, I'm sure would soon give them strong competition by rolling out their own 4G LTE service. The existing networks are just waiting for them to see how good their service. If their service is good, every other network would start offering unlimited data.

If you watch, you'll notice data price is already coming down. Airtel now offer 4.5GB for N,200 and 9GB for N3,500.

Losers:

The biggest losers would be Spectranet, Smile network, Swift, e.t.c all the current 4G networks would become history within 2 years, cause they don't have what it takes to remain in the competition. What happened to Multilinks, Zoom, would happen to them.

So, a lot of domino effect advantages!.

The simply do not have the capacity to do that yet. How many of such areas can you find a reliable ntel coverage, or rather, how many can you find life coverage, first; before talking of reliable? This guys will have to do a lot of ground work before many Nigerians will benefit from this 'tee party'. But from how things are going, the obvious lack of will from this Government, one can predict quite accurately a near future collapse.

Please can someone make more clarifications. The ntel guys seems not so ready for the main market, they shd av said yes are just test running. I just got the Sim, I realised the latest tech which is 4g lte is just being used in a few countries. The lot of phones do not even support it. The tech guy I spoke to told me they are talking to phone manufacturers to write a patch to upgrade existing phones.

I had to buy it because of the data speed they offer and because spectranet increased tariff. I learnt one can unlock spectranet modem for any network. Because I'm not ready to buy any ntel branded phone for now.

They also have a fair usage policy so u don't use it for too much heavy download like p2p an movies. Like 3gb per day. Th phones that can access it r still too few though.

Its a pity that your memory lacks the will power to comprehend information. Go back and read your so-called first topic. It says subscribe for 1month plan and get 3months browsing for free. You must subscribe first for you to enjoy this offer.

Now that you have got it. Go to the backyard to wash the plates. Also wash the plate used to serve bingo.
