Doctors in the house, this thing has appeared on my mum's hands and right feet since last year, she has used and taken some medications all to no avail...pls help identify the cause and type of treatment to use for it. ...she hasn't been happy with it 1 Like 5 Shares

Not Chemist, Not Pharmacist, Not Health center, Not Trado-Medical but a proper Hospital.. I recommend a Teaching or General Hospital in Lagos. Insist they do a Blood Culture on her. Also that she undergoes Urinalysis. I guess she would be automatically referred to a Dermatologist as well who would schedule her for his own series of tests. Its important that she gets properly tested. If its just an allergic reaction, then whatever it is she is allergic to can be spotted and she can learn to avoid such, if its the symptoms of something else (which I pray its not), then that can also be detected now and treated early. That looks like contact dermatitis/hand dermatitis also know as hand eczema. Mostly caused by an allergy, she might be reacting to something new. Did she made any recent switch of Soap or Creame? Is it itchy? I'm very sure she is reacting to something and she has to stop it. It can also be as result of Contact irritant dermatitis which may result from any weak acid or alkali, including detergents, shampoos and cleaning materials. It may result from foodstuffs, oils and greases. These may affect the dorsum of the hand first; however, prolonged use over months or years leads to involvement of the palms. The first step in treating the allergy is to look for what she is reacting to and stop it immediately. Application of steroid ointments 2-3 times a day. I believe it is wrong to be using different medications when you are not sure of what you are treating. Better still advice her to visit a dermatologist and I'm very sure she would be given the right treatment. I just de feel like Doctor.  Well I'm talking from experience. Her body culd b reacting to something, either washing soap, water she.s using to wash cloths, it has to do wth her physical contact wth something, then see a medical doctor and back it up wth prayers, God ll heal her. 1 Like |

This happened last year and you are just seeking public opinions today I guess. Skin discoloration could be as result of so many things and I won't mislead you by giving examples.
