I believe you all hear the phrase Unconditional Love as it is being thrown around all the time.

People throw it around often, especially when one breaks up with a partner due one reason or the other.

You hear people say that Love transcends all forms of religions, creed, tribal, ethnic and racial divides. That true love actually recognises no boundaries: no errors, no defects, no wrong doings whatsoever.

They believe that when Love is pure and true, nothing else matters. ie why You read comments like "Leave that guy and move on, a person who loves you will accept you the way you are because TRUE LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL"

True love according to them is a devotion to someone without restrictions or boundaries – a type of love that won’t alter due to distance, temptations, or miniscule details including bad habits.

Apparently you can murder their parents and they will still love you the same.

Honestly it sounds good, feels good and for all intents and purposes it IS good, but does it exist?

NOPE, it doesn't exist. Someone loving you unconditionally is of course a big lie.

In my experience and from my observations, romantic love comes with a great many conditions and love at its core is more about gratitude.

We appreciate the way the other person makes us feel about ourselves.

We feel gratitude for the things they do for us, and how they treat us. And therefore, in the absence of gratitude, love does not really exist romantically.

Is there any person who doesn't go into a relationship with expectations and stays in them because of expectations?

The expectations are conditions which largely translates to, “How you treat me will determine if I stay or not.

Personally we are cool as long as I trust. As long as you respect me. As long as we feel the same. That’s love for me and it is conditional.

My advice to all of us is to be patient and forgiving, and to always put great effort into making a relationship work instead of expecting everything to fall into place naturally but stay away from people who believe in unconditional love; their heart is in danger.

Nice piece. No such thing as unconditional love. It's a farce.

Even God's love is conditional. His vow to punish sinners and send them to hell makes his love for his 'children' comes with clause and conditions.

Love isn't free, no it ain't free, no matter what they say somebody has to pay for love. ......I love that song by dolly parton. and I agree with her totally, we all pay for love one way or another. Even Jesus did with his life
