Hi OP.

I have seen this case before and your mom's case is not peculiar. This happens when the individual affected has an averse side effect of a habit. This habit could range from excessive Wanking in the case of young men or too much Hand-Jobs. Do you know if your mum has a boyfriend that likes HandJobs? or Do you know if she flirts around with random men? Giving Random Men HandJobs can lead to something like this.

Another factor that could be responsible is if the sufferer of this illness has Akagum i.e she is too stingy for no apparent reason. When you refuse to help people. The lord shuts your hands permanently in the spiritual realm.

So Advise your mum to stop sleeping around or be less stingy.

Hi Op. If your mum has a previous history of allergies, this could be allergic dermatitis. Atopic allergies may be difficult for you to pick out as a lay man though.

It could be chemical dermatitis too if her history is taken properly to rule out any corrosive chemical agent she handled in the past one year. Also called Chemical-contact dermatitis. There is another type of contact dermatitis though.

If your mum is a farmer, and earns her living through farming, and uses crude implements as hoes and cutlasses, she could be having Physical-contact dermatitis.

In all, soaking the palm in warm water as a daily night routine is good. It helps to break up tough keratinised skin.

Then, follow it up by applying Hydrocortisone cream. It melts away the tough, keratinised skin. She will have results within four weeks of contact application of this cream. I've heard colleagues talk about Calamine lotion. I don't know about that, so I prefer Hydrocortisone cream because I've often prescribed it for such cases, and there has been results.

Op visit a good hospital and get her tested....madcow's comment is also important, u may try as he stated.

Uncle.. Please take your mother to a Hospital. Hospital o!! Not Chemist, Not Pharmacist, Not Health center, Not Trado-Medical but a proper Hospital.. I recommend a Teaching or General Hospital in Lagos.

Insist they do a Blood Culture on her. Also that she undergoes Urinalysis.

I guess she would be automatically referred to a Dermatologist as well who would schedule her for his own series of tests.

Its important that she gets properly tested. If its just an allergic reaction, then whatever it is she is allergic to can be spotted and she can learn to avoid such, if its the symptoms of something else (which I pray its not), then that can also be detected now and treated early.

Dont bother going to doctors they will take your cash and dermatologists will treat the skin and not the cause. Your mother is suffering from effect of chronic acidosis. And you can treat her with less than 5k naira per month.

Her body fluid is highly acidic. Dont kniw how she manage to stay alive. You need to start alkalyzing her organs immediately. Buy Baking Soda and Lemon or lime. Sqeeze a lemon or lime into a glass of warm water and add a table spoon of baking soda and let her drink it first thing in the morning daily. Prepare same for evenings. Repeat it until the symptoms disappear. Thank me later.

might be due to high ACTh hormone secreting...or a skin infection, take her to a hospital ...the dermatologist or an endocrinologist if it is high secretion of the adrenocorticotropic hormone which is involved in producing melanocytes secreting hormone, which can cause increased melanin production. the disease might be adissons disease.

A dermatological issue,likely lichen planus......but clerk in you here will be hectic,so the best bet is to go to a hospital,if possible,c a dermatologist.

This happened last year and you are just seeking public opinions today I guess. Skin discoloration could be as result of so many things and I won't mislead you by giving examples. Take your mum to the hospital for a proper test.

Has it occurred to you that he or she may be from a poor background and/or may be ignorant of any free medical benefits his/her folks may be eligible for?

There are a million and one reasons why he/she may have chose to bring the topic to this forum so I would suggest we use our emotional intelligence first before jumping into conclusion!!

Your mum's body is actually reacting to something. A particular drug she uses to take will be responsible for this. You will agree with me that it started small but keep increasing with time. The medication she's been taking might even be worsening the matter if the particular drug she's reacting is included in the treatments. You must do something to stop it and that you need to do it fast before it enters other parts of her body and becomes scarey. I'm telling you this because my body is a reactor to some drugs and my case use to be very terrible that people thought it is poison till I met a doc. Meet a doc and I hope you find solution to your mum's challenge with is also your challenge.

The differentials are many and range from allergy, atopic dermatitis to autoimmune disease. If it is spreading and itchy it may be signal that secondary infection of the compromised tissue has set in especially of mycotic types. A skin biopsy and dermatologist opinion will be needed.

I am not a doctor and can't say for sure what it is but i believe it is a form of Skin Disease and it must be treated immediately to avoid it spreading to the rest of her body. There is a leaf you boil a particular type of 'Agbo' that she should start bathing with immediately. Used it as a child with chicken pox. I will also advice that you all should not share the same cutlery until you are sure its not transmittable with contact.

Happened to my sister last year for like 6mnts. Apart from the anti fungi cream the doc. Gave her which didn't work @ first until he told her not to let water touch it. She started using gloves to bath, her roomates shared hercloths and washed them for her. No water contact @ all. And lo & behold it dried up completely after about 2mnts. Pls try this, by Gods grace it will work

Try clobetasol Propionate 0.05% cream applied twice daily.

If symptoms persist after two weeks, then consult a dermatologist. If you spend all the money to visit a dermatologist, there is about 90% chance he/she will start you off on the same medication noted above.

Check with your chemist/Pharmacist, the medication comes in different trade names.

hello there .. av seen.. if u read the story clearl again, u'd see he also stated there is a similar stuff on the right feet.. allergies usually present early in life, the question is why now. and they tend to resolve then reappear, seems this was her first lasting one whole year, a close look on her arm wud also show some faint skin eruption which am not sure of d definite cause.. am thinking fungi but wud love to do a RVD screening on her before proceed. she shud see a doctor..
