Does Not Going To Church Mean I'm Hell Bound? by Nobody: 12:50pm On Apr 24, 2016
This issue has been a source of strife between me and my family members. I really do not see any reason why I must go to church but that doesn't mean I hate being a Christian. On the contrary I believe in doing what is right and following the due principles of Christ, but yet people will name call me for not going to church... Isn't that even bad in it self, after all it is written in the Bible that we should remove the log in our own eyes before removing the spec in another's eyes? Anyway my fellow nairalanders I'd like to hear your honest opinion on this matter. Thank you.

Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Do not forsake the gathering of the brethren.
Can we be saved by remaining in the comfort of our homes?

It's wise to fellowship with the brethren, take it or leave it. Only the wise will understand.

Not necessarily, but in most cases, yes.

True, the Bible did say we should remove the log in our eyes first before removing the speck in others eyes, but that doesn't mean that speck in your neighbour's eyes is a good thing - it still has to be removed.

If you say you'll go to heaven because you do what is right, how about the atheists who don't believe in Jesus Christ, but still do what is right, are kind, cheerful givers etc? What distinguishes you from them is obedience to the word of God, and the word of God says we should not forsake the assembly of the believers.

God's ultimate instruction? If you love me, you'll keep my commandments. - Not your church or pastor's or family's, but God's commandments.

FIRST AND FORMOST, going to church, paying tithe, giving offering in church, even reading the scriptures does not give you eternal life, what gives you eternal life is a person, and the person is Jesus. And the only way to receive eternal life from Jesus is by YOU BELIEVING(faith) IN HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

And not by works like; right living, going to church, giving the poor, giving offering in church, paying tithe and many more.

Rom 10:9;"
If you DECLARE with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”
and BELIEVE in your heart that God raised him
from the dead, YOU WILL BE SAVED.
10 For it is
with your heart that you BELIEVE and are
JUSTIFIED , and it is with your mouth that you
profess your faith and ARE SAVED. As Scripture
says, “Anyone who BELIEVES IN HIM(jesus) will never be
put to shame.”

John 5:39; "Search ye the SCRIPTURES; for IN THEM YE THINK you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me"

That's Jesus speaking, he was telling the jews, that they should search the scripture, which they think it can give them eternal life, rather they are testimonies of me. So Jesus was indirectly telling them that the scripture is NOT given to them to receive eternal life, rather they are books that were given as a testimony of himself, jesus.

I guess 2 billion Chinese, 1.2 billion Indians, plus 2 billion muslims are "hell bound'' since they do not go to church. I mean, some of you Christians are so dumb and stup.id, it's unreal. You don't even think like adults. Whoever did this to you deserves the worst...

"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

The above as you said, is true. But, that is not in anyway talking about going to church, for you to have faith by hearing the word of God. Because, even without going to church, you can still possess faith by reading and studying the word of God.

I am not supporting staying at home on sunday, but when it comes to eternal life, we should do it a justice. And the justice is to handle it the way the bible talked about it, which is dependent on faith alone and not works of the law.

YOU ASKED THIS: "Can we be saved by remaining in the comfort of our homes?"

My answer; while you can be saved from eternal condemnation even WHILE AT home, you can as well saved WHILE IN church, but you cannot be saved BY going to church or sitting AT home.

What saves us is not sitting at home or going to church, but BELIEVING IN THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST. DISREGARDING the case!

Finally, you are not saved, because you not forsaking the gathering of the saints, but because you BELIEVE(faith) in the finished work of christ(righteousness of God).

NOTE; I have not, in anyway, said that going to church should not be encouraged, rather receiving eternal life by FAITH should be encouraged than going to church. Because, ALL who have eternal life by faith shall see him on the last day, but NOT all who go to church will see him.

Ok bros, you can continue to stay and remain at home as you please, but as for me and my house, we will go to church, come rain or sun.

Yea, while I agree with you 100%, I have to say that no man will see God(justified) by keeping God's commandments.

Yea you are 100% right, I love that!

But, we must not distort the HOPE of christianity(eternal life by faith) while trying to address issues like this, to avoid doing the job of the devil, which is to accuse the brethen.

As for me, I go to church, but WE SHOULDN'T CONDEMN people who don't go, but have eternal life in christ.

Rather we need to advise them, by telling them the experiences they will love to encounter, instead of condemning them with lies governed with the gospel of hell fire, making them to come to church out of the fear of hell, instead of coming to church out of his love for God, being in expectation of some awesome experience he will encounter with God.
Such means will be awesome and effective, instead of condemning!

More grace on you!
