Fuel Loading Resumes Aba Depot After 16 Years by Nnabugwu8590: 9:01pm On Apr 25, 2016
The lifting of petroleum products at the Aba depot of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), which had been suspended sixteen years ago is expected to resume next week.
This was disclosed at the weekend as the Federal Government said it was part of measures to find permanent solution to the scarcity of fuel plaguing the country for months.
It also said over twelve million liters of petroleum products were awaiting distribution at the depot.
The resumption of operations at the depot according to the Executive Director of the company Mr. Kennedy Azodeh, followed the repairs carried out on the vandalized oil pipeline which now makes the pumping of products possible.
Suspension of loading at the depot was as a result of the continued pipeline vandalisation along the Port Harcourt – Enugu stretch covering about 209 kilometers.

Efforts in the past to revive the Osisioma Depot at Aba were sabotaged by the activities of vandals and failure of the community to ensure security of the pipelines along the route.
Azodeh said measures were being put in place to effectively check vandalism in the area.

He, however, said while the Port Harcourt –Aba route was now safe, the pumping from Aba to Enugu would be effected soon when logistics were put in place.
In his remark, Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association ( IPMAN ) Aba Depot, Prince Bobby Dick, said because of the expected loading at the depot, marketers had reversed the price of the product to the government approved price.

The kind of lies disseminated in this administration is preposterous. Is it the one opened by Jonathan administration after 12 years closure?

Abia State And Re-Opening Of Aba NNPC Depot.

THE recent re-opening of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, depot at Aba, Abia State is a landmark achievement and welcome development, especially for the residents of the commercial city of Aba and its environs who have suffered for long due to its closure some years ago as result of insecurity, bunkering and pipeline vandalism.

You probably missed the point.

Buhari is my President at least till 2019, and I have no choice.

Having said that, the point I was disputing wasn't the latest maintenance rather the topic that claimed the Depot had been out of use since 16 years while the truth is that the plant is working and needed a touch because of dormancy, a long period without products from Portharcourt refinery hence the normal preventive maintenance.

At least their are people in aba that can confirm this news for us. My aba people abeg oooo. Se una Depot dey work for the past 2 years? Make una verify biko.

If you work in any federal government ministry or agency or parastatals, you will know CHANGE has been happening.

My brothers and sisters, the rot in this country is too massive, only public servants will understand this. It is important to note that few are benefitting MASSIVELY from this rot and they will do anything possible to sabotage effort to improve the system.

The good thing is things are done sanely compared to previous administrations.

I have high HOPE in this administration.

God help them.

I dont think the people of Aba have the discipline or civility to ensure that the depot operates, it wont be long before it shuts down again, cos our brothers over there will vandalize the facilities and adulterate the products there.

Kerosene scarcity problem there might prompt them to vandalize the pipelines thinking that kerosene will come out of it.
