LAGOS— A 19-year-old boy identified as Gafar Ayoola, who resided at 16, Bridge Road, Otto, Ebute Metta in Lagos Mainland, had been allegedly tortured to death while in detention at Denton Police Station, Lagos.

Vanguard gathered that Gafar Ayoola, who was a barber at Okoafo, Badagry Area, was arrested Friday morning by a policeman attached to Denton Divisional Police station, Oyingbo, on his way to board a cab to his work place.
It was learned that when news of Gafar’s arrest got to his parents, they stormed the station demanding to know why he was arrested, but the policemen on duty denied having any suspect with that name in their custody.
According to his father, Sulaiman Ayoola, “he was arrested by one of the officers at Denton police station named Taye. When the news got to us, we went to the police station but the officers on duty lied that they did not see or know the reason behind Gafar’s arrest.
“However, this morning (Saturday) at the police station, one of the police officers was trying to pacify us by disclosing that Gafar was rushed to Dunik Hospital at Kano Street by Bola in Ebute Metta (East) where he breathed his last.

If u've taken time to study the Nigerian police nd also witnessed their brutality, u'll knw that the police reigns supreme in wickedness. Seems they are trained specially in wickedness.
Again gafar's case becomes another case study bt the truth is that, will his family ever get justice?
REST IN PEACE GAFAR.

Common don't be delusional

Remove the D in Devil you have Evil

Add o in God you have Good

All these whole western ideology of God and Devil is a hogwash sold to us so as to limit our thinking ability.

And for the Nigeria police, i think the government should take them through a regular quarterly mental screening and we the citizens should know our fundamental rights so as to put these policemen in check if violated

#JusticeforGafarAyoola.

We have useless civic society groups here in Nigeria, who waste their precious time and life fighting stupid causes. Such as the OccupyNass.

We should fight for Gafar. Those behind his untimely death should be brought to book. We need to halt the unprecedented and incessant harassment and killings of Nigerians by our Police Force.

Thousands of innocent persons like Gafar have been sent to their early graves, when the police are trying to frame up innocent persons as being responsible for offenses they never committed and so many other reasons

All this ur philosophy can't work here. Take it or leave it, Nigerian police are brutally brutal, wickedly wicked.
They re quick to harrase, intimidate, maim or even kill within a second.
Carefully observe the police in your area for a week. Then form ur own judgement.
Bt be rest assured that whatever u find exist everywhere.
I've seen police dragging a man on the floor of a road after stripping him naked.
I've seen police coming to streets nd arresting anyone on sight. Bail out will be N10,000. Just like dat.
Trust me, naija police aint anyone's friend.

Well spoken. We need to wait for IG to speak. The officers should be charged for murder and executed too. You see them arresting young men just for nothing.Cannot understand the society we are here. A police officer will be armed with a well loaded gun and be arresting people on the street.

The other time it was the case of just a group of police officers that killed a woman caring her baby when her husband driving Keke Maruwa refused to give them money.

What kind of society will arm a drunk officer gun to go to the street intimidating people in order to collect what they have and if they refuse, they will get the individual arrested and taken to the station if not Nigeria?

I was driving the other day, I saw some police officers park their van beside the road and be stopping transporters and be collecting money from them.

The other day, I saw some officers harassing a young man collected his phone and was going through his phone. IG has warned them against this and they still go about doing same and stealing. The worst thing is that they still take this people to their stations and extort money from them. Too bad.
