This is not funny funny. That same board that didn't see anything wrong in what Mr Okonkwo did until he was arrested by the EFCC?
The bank had better call for an emergency AGM to brief their shareholders and lay everything bare before the whole board members get arrested or indicted.
The bank is bigger than them and they better stop playing games.
I'm surprised no member of the board is resigning or investigating the role played by Mr Peter Obi who has been reportedly indicted by the statement of the embattled Managing Director.
The Chartered Institute of Bankers,CBN, NSE,SEC,bankers Committee etc have not even said anything. The only press release has been from the bank while the regulators have continued to maintain an annoying silence.
Did these regulators participate in the alleged atrocious professional misconduct too?
Who are they scared of? Is it until the problem gets bigger before they act?
The regulators should wake up to their responsibility.

It is not about politics, it's about good corporate governance.
The M. D, Nnamdi Okonkwo, allegedly pocketed a whopping $26million and this same board is claiming to be innocent?
ThIs same M. D has alleged that it was Mr Peter Obi who directed him to go ahead with the transaction.
Now the M. D of a national bank has been arrested and detained for weeks, the CBN is yet to say anything. Where's that done anywhere in the world?
Now SEC and NSE had equally maintained an annoying silence. This is the M. D of a bank listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
Do we know if the $26m was used to acquire stocks in another bank, company or fidelity bank itself and when he's disposing his shares by force, can bring down those company's shares?
We just carried on as if it ends with arrest, detention and replacement of Nnamdi Okonkwo. That's just a surface scratch of the problem

Was the aboooki next in line?
Or the ibos are desperately trying hard to appease their Fulani masters?
I thought by now ibos should have realised that Fulanis cant be pleased with such gesture.
They'd rather just take over the ibo bank once and for all.
Yet ibos will beat their empty chests and call Yorubas cowards and slaves - a perfect description of who they actually are in the country.

To investigate.
The EFCC is handling the criminal angle, the regulators will establish professional and systemic misconduct to protect innocent stakeholders in the bank and learn from the problems if there is a loophole in the present banking/financial regulations.
The bank is presently more than Nnamdi and a few people charged with the board functions.
Not all cases need to even to get to the court or EFCC before correction or sanctions are implemented. For example,Chartrered Institute of Bankers have the power to set up disciplinary panel to find out if their members have acted in unprofessional manners.
I'm least bothered about the political angle for now but it's immoral and irresponsible if the regulators keep silent.
Imagine the role Johannesburg Stock Exchange did when MTN had the problem in Nigeria. They were even more responsive in calming down other stakeholders.
They didn't wait and watch people dumping the shares of the company before acting?
