Surprised at Akpabio's ignorance. Kidnapping for money has been part of Nigeria's history. Yorubas have been doing it since Adam, as has been northerners. Even the trans Sahara and trans Atlantic slave trades were based on kidnapping people and selling them. If you know what the Yoruba word gbomogbomo means in English, you will understand that kidnapping has been a business in SW centuries ago, even before Igbos got out of diapers.

I identified 2 problems in your essay which make it fallacious.1. You don't understand the translation of gbomogbomo or does not know the meaning 2 you are missing up the slave trade with kidnapping.
For your information, gbomogbomo are not kdnapping but ritualists that do money rituals not demanding money in exchange of victims as practised in the mentioned region and it is happening everywhere.
Slave trade was practised everywhere in the country and even beyond nigeria
Akpabio was actually refering to commercial kidnapping
