Why the haste to arrest him when he was asked to report in their office on Monday? I guess they couldn't wait till Monday to begin their harassment. Thank God for the vigilance of the press, he would probably have been dragged out of his house if not for their presence. It is so disheartening that the man who heads the anti-corruption agency is a trained lawyer, yet he allows his men to flagrantly abuse the law. Sagay and the other "CHANGE" lawyers will still put up a defense for this brazen display of unguarded power.
this is true,if the letter was dated 9th of may,the best they can do is to lay survalance on him not to harrass him or lay siege on his house,Mr president please this our over zealous head of agencies talk to them, they are spoiling the name of your government, just like the AG did with national assembly and Mtn saga.

Think about this... what if they got intelligent report that the man is planning to run/jet out of the country b4 on Monday like the likes of obanikoro and co?
Was not the same way Metuh was shouting b4 his arrest to garner public sympathy?

As much as this harassment as a juggernaut is unwelcoming, still it's entertaining. If FFK had being an ordinary citizen, they would have not even invited him but rather storm his residence uninvited and bundle him to their office had he being a commoner. That he's well to do, he was able to use the media houses to his advantage. Let them feel what commoners out there feel, yet these commoners are people who never committed any crime. Our forces are majorly known with harassment esp when they're driving home their points to the letter, worst off if one's not influential. Bundle him joor and let him account for his acts, that was how he blamed the ex minister of aviation then during GEJ Era and was quick to exonerate himself. No politician has ever blamed himself even till the point of being found guilty.

This is embarrassing to the authorities. If he had not twitted and put it on fb. If reporters had not started converging, they would not have withdrawn.

So in essence they knew what they were doing was silly and it would become worse with more mainstream media houses coming on board.

They did not want to see unfavourable headlines and details in the dailies tomorrow.

That still doesn't call for this commando style of arrest. All they needed to do was to ensure adequate surveillance around him. This reprehensible action will only fuel the belief that the body is being used to muzzle opposing voices.
Re: EFCC Operatives Leave Fani-kayode’s Home by DedeNkem: 4:32am On May 07, 2016
Fani-kayode is very corrupt, no doubt about that.

The toothless bulldog called EFCC, earlier, sent a letter to Fani-Kayode’s residence, demanding his presence in their Abuja office by 10.00am on Monday, May 9, 2016. Why didn't he honor the "invitation" to clear his name on the allegation if he was innocent? Why didn't EFCC break into his mansion (built with looted money) to arrest him?

Would EFCC give an "invitation" to an ordinary citizen? NO. It would just go and arrest the person! Would EFCC visit the home of an ordinary citizen who failed to show up, and not break into to arrest the person? NO.

Ladies and Gentle men, Nigerian justice system has different laws for the well connected.

This is not a defense of corruption but the defense of human rights. Do you know how traumatic the experience would have been for his young family? There is nothing wrong in people being asked to account for their actions but the way this government has been going about it has a tinge of persecution. As regards the 11 billion, he has been tried and it resulted in an acquittal.

What human rights? You lack understanding. Being arrested for suspicion of a crime is not against your human rights. They should have arrested him straightaway instead of inviting him by letter. A common thief who stole a N100 item would have been arrested on the spot but you and your banana republic afford luxuries to pen robbers who looted our commonwealth.

it's like PDP used naira and dollar notes to campaign while APC used leafs and tissue papers for their campaign, cos nobody is investigating the source if their campaign fund.

So, is that one a Federal Govt's ache?? Their various States should dig down facts, nd lay it in front of the law, for proper scrutiny and judgement... Gun-wielding operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, who earlier stormed the No 5, Zuma Close, off Aso Drive, Abuja home of former spokesperson of Goodluck Jonathan’s Presidential Campaign Organization and erstwhile Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, have left the place.

An eye-witness who visited the scene of the siege but pleaded anonymity, said, the operatives of the anti-graft agency decided to leave when hordes of pressmen began to storm Fani-Kayode’s residence.

The ex-Minister had earlier cried out today that officials of the EFCC had surrounded his house in a text message he sent to several media organisations. Recall that the EFCC, earlier, sent a letter to Fani-Kayode’s residence, demanding his presence in their Abuja office by 10.00am on Monday, May 9, 2016, to explain his role in the presidential campaign funds of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2015 presidential elections.

The letter was signed by Mr. Mohammed Umar Abba on behalf of the EFCC acting chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.

It was gathered that Fani-Kayode, in a letter through his lawyer, had assured the anti-graft agency that he would duly honour the invitation, even as he had several times insisted that he was not hiding from the EFCC.

Am a PDP supporter....personally I Dnt care weda all pDP members are arrested.... I bliv if EFcc storm ur house if ur clean u will b let alone....

Efcc storm akpabio and he was clean..he was let alone...

So other blivin it is witch hunt is wasting their tym.....

Those that are in Efcc net are not clean....

Though am a pdp man, I Hv Neva benefited from their share of wealth,Jst Lik some of us who cum here to call it a witch hunt....... wen this Ppl were eating d money they Neva remembered you...some of u only got biscuit n drinks during election n campaign......

Their children and wife are not crying that their father is being arrested, is common us who has not benefit from the arrested Ppl,Dat are making noise up n dwn.....

I Dnt care if Efcc arrest all pdp members.... the truth is that d judgement will b made public....they will all Hv options to push to higher court, this Ppl Hv good lawyers, they Hv excess money.....Evn if they are jail for 5years they will cum out n still b richer Dan you.....

So why do we complain,as if buhari, deny dem right to lawyers..... why are we crying as if they are tortured in cell.... why are we crying as if they Dnt eat good food in d cell,,,why are we crying as if,if Dey release them they will tell all of us to go n get fuel free.....

This same Ppl will b in government by 2019 n we will complain that Dey r not fulfilling their promises....
