That's actually common among the older folks. But from what I know and practice, wearing a pair of socks under a native attire is a No-No for me.

Yes that a silk sock and it helps the foot from abrasion of skin rubbing skin

And the shoes will not smell due to heat because the socks will absolve the sweat
