Only thing about the Windows phone is it's OS interface and it's still troublesome. Just stick to your Itel, at least you understand that one. |

haibe:I keep forgetting to reply you since.. Here is my response. For "folder mounting", am not really sure of what it is but if it's creating of folder for apps, it's an inbuilt features on WP. fake Wi-Fi app, if I recall correctly, it's not available on Play Store which means it's somehow illegal but due to Android external app support (which of course expose the phone to varies infections) you were able to install it. Root Explorer, rooting of phone is illegal, everyone knows that and WP want to keep there OS safe (just like iOS), so if you can't root your WP, why will I need root explorer?? lucky patch, last time I check on this too, it's not available on Play Store, so it's obvious that it's illegal. since WP don't allow external apps installer, you won't find it for WP. CPU analyser, this is just another inbuilt features for windows phone. Well, when I said "the phone have all App you can possibly needed ", I mean legal apps and not the ones for cheat codes and rooting stuff. |

superxam:NO NO, never try to do that, when you have an Itel device? personally there's nothing special about Windows because whatever Windows devices do, Android does it better. In case you need to change your Itel phone I'll advice you go for the latest Itel device's, the It1507, It1408, It1505 and the It1551 these devices are awesome if you try it out. |

Samtoby:Rooting is illegal? Please do your research well and come back to me. I don't have time for argument now |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by Samtoby(m): 10:56am On May 11, 2016 |
haibe:Bro. don't be ridiculous.. Because u stay in a country where every single thing is legal doesn't mean other countries allow the same... Rooting of phone is illegal in some part of the country besides, why do manufacturers said "rooting of phone will void users warranty".. . It's not a matter of argument, it's just the truth |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by Esseson1(m): 11:02am On May 11, 2016 |
driand:Yea, coincidentally we all use itel products and love it.. Falling for the temptation of linking 3 different users in this context shows u have little experience with the phenomenon - coincidence... |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by haibe(m): 11:09am On May 11, 2016 |
Samtoby:Stop saying what you do not know. Rooting is not illegal, how did you come about this? Asking that question shows you don't know what rooting is and it's implication. By rooting you Android device, you are granted a Super User (Or Administrative) permission. This means you can alter delicate system files and build the operating system to your own taste. By doing this, you can easily mess things up if you don't understand how certain programs work and cause an hard brick to your device . That is why rooting your device is not advisable unless you really know own what you are doing. Rooting will void your warranty because manufacturers know it is very likely to harm your phone if you don't know what you are doing and therefore won't take liability for your own carelessness. There is no law saying you shouldn't root your phone, infact no legal implication of rooting you phone, except of course you are using your root access for illegal stuffs. Ps: Getting super user permission on Android is not different from getting administrative permission on Windows. None of them is illegal, but it is only advisable to get this permissions if you are totally sure you will not mess things up. |

I just dey look at Oyb comments... it's funny how Nigerians blame people for there mistake. Microsoft state clearly that using of Windows 10 Mobile Technical Preview can affect phone performance in one way or the other (which stopped me from installing it). This is why they release an app that will let user go back to their previous OS (WP8.1). Clearly you didn't read the TOS then MS is at fault?. I laugh at Angry Birds comment, like wtf man, I can recall having up to like 5 Angry Birds game on my phone before deleting them. The only Angry Birds i think is not on WP is Angry Birds 2. I think you also said Google Now is better than Cortana.. Bro why you dey lie?? Google Now can only search google for you, Cortana is not called personal assistant for nothing.. She can help you set alarm, open any app on your phone, play music, help you call, help you test someone and so on with just the voice command. The only credit I give Google Now is I don't need to press a button before using it, once you say "OK Google" (which sound annoying when pronouncing), it will show up... Bro, no insult but I doubt if you use those Lumia phones like you said. |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by Samtoby(m): 11:34am On May 11, 2016 |
haibe:Like i said, rooting is illegal in some country, this so mostly in Asian Countries... but aside that, so far manufacturers said it void warranty, it's illegal to me. Your definition of illegal might diff from mine anyway. |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by haibe(m): 12:06pm On May 11, 2016 |
Samtoby:Okay let me even assume rooting is illegal in some countries. However if it's not illegal in Nigeria, then it makes sense to use an android phone than a windows phone. About the non root apps, the amount of apps available on Windows is still no where near that of android. There are few windows phone developers Compared to Android . If you get an administrator permission on Windows and you mess up your computer, you cannot claim a warranty for this. So therefore it is illegal to you right? Smh |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by Samtoby(m): 12:29pm On May 11, 2016 |
haibe:Lol.. now u talking. it's not illegal in Nigeria so Android that can easily jailbreak is what you guys want, last time i check, MS isn't Nigeria manufacturer or Africa to be specific, so they don't give d F if u guys need a phone that can be jailbreak or not.. But we using it know we don't need it to be jailbreak, as for apps, we enjoy all apps we can possibly need on WP. Besides, I also make use of Infinix Note 2 and I didnt root it, I really don't know what you guys sees in rooting, so it's purely not important (to me anyways).... As far as concern, as long as rooting a fone will void my warranty, it's illegal.... The phone might have a common problem and if it's rooted and then the problem occur, u expect them to fix it for free abi?.. it's Nigeria, u self know it's not possible. |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by haibe(m): 1:23pm On May 11, 2016 |
Samtoby:That's why they say if you are a noob, don't root your phone , it's a very clear and easy instruction. It is illegal to you if you say so, but is not illegal to others. Most people I have met that bought windows phone were fooled into buying it, the apps and games are too few compared to android. Hardware and software is only good enough. Get an Android phone and free yourself. |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by Nobody: 2:25pm On May 11, 2016 |
Samtoby:Maybe I should post pictures of the phones. The buggy nature of the technical previews is a testament to MS indifference to Windows Mobile Windows technical preview on desktop can be run on production systems with minimal issues. That has typically been the case with their betas. Not the case with words. Google now is available for Nigeria. Cortana isn't. You have to set your region to us or UK first. As per angry birds, place a Lumia, iPhone and Android device side by side and search for angry birds in the store. There's an angry birds movie coming out. The tie in game is angry birds action. It is not in wp. There's a new hungry shark game. Not on wp. And As I said before multiple cross platform app developers ignore wp |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by klinro(m): 5:15pm On May 11, 2016 |
If i were to advise you, would say you should stick with your itel phone. Windows phone is a no no |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by Samtoby(m): 5:55pm On May 11, 2016 |
haibe:Only a fool can be trick into buying something without knowing about it first, but yet again this is Nigeria. As long as every app needed to use on phone (social medias, utilities and games), WP is 90% perfect alongside Android. Also must all phone have same features.. Android is also lacking series of features that iOS packed together (app aside).. As for me, I pick WP over Android, and I can't even wait to switch my Lumia 535 to Lumia 650 once available in Nigeria. |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by Samtoby(m): 6:27pm On May 11, 2016 |
oyb:Bro do I need to explain what Technical Preview means, it's not official released, it's full of bugs and that is why it's released out for people to detect the bugs and report back to MS. Technical Preview is never for people to use but to help MS in identifying and reporting bugs. The way PC run is different from how WP runs even though they both run same OS. Even same WP with same OS and RAM can be different in performance (so does Android).. You can't compare PC OS with WP OS, Besides, MS rush PC OS update and meet their official release date. So they ignore WP10Mobile and focus on PC first. You can't expect much bug from PC cause they work fast and steady on it.. They however work on WP later. Google Now is not functioning like Cortana is functioning, like I said Google Now is just to search online, nothing else. But Cortana is just like Siri, they are both built base on regions. but you can change location to get it, even on WP, u av to change location to either UK, US or China to use Cortana.. They are built to speak in different languages making it easier to everyone from different country to make use of their respective countries. How do you expect a chip with British accent to understand an India accent? But there is an features on WP that will allow Cortana to identify a foreign accent too for easier use as well.. Yes, angry birds action is not available for WP. but there are 5 other Angry Birds available, why bother about one or two missing?? There are lot of games on Play Store but not available on WP.. Hope you know that they lot of games on PlayStation thats not available for Xbox and vise versa.. not new.. Hungry Shark evolution is both available for WP and Android, so what do u mean?? Can you give me a good example of multi platform apps ignored on WP?? |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by haibe(m): 6:44pm On May 11, 2016 |
Samtoby:Are you aware majority of game developers like gameloft and ea sport hardly focus on Windows phones? My best game on Android (mc5) only gets updates seasonally unlike ios and android. Several other interesting games and applications are missing and ur saying 90%. Do your research well bro |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by Samtoby(m): 7:30pm On May 11, 2016 |
haibe:Bro, in as much as MC5 is available on WP, when it gets update is developers business. They can update the app anytime they want.. besides, getting rapid update on iOS and Android might be cuz of user complain on crush and bugs they detect.. There are lot of games on WP as well and for games that are not available WP, it's clearly business or developers choice.... PlayStation also have series of games that Xbox didn't have and vise versa... Halo and others is exclusively Xbox games and Uncharted and others, God of War is for PlayStation.. Developers choice is on releasing games on any OS they want.. as far as other developers build WP version of their apps, others can if they want and if they didn't want, other awesome games are there to play with.. I have both Lumia and Android, I know exactly what am talking about. I have update to Windows 10 on Lumia, my Android is still at Android 5.1 while Android 7.0 is about to be release... What you wanna say about that? Isn't OS suppose to be for all users or at least 80% of users before even thinking about another OS. |
| Re: What Is So Special About Windows Phones? by Nobody: 8:29pm On May 11, 2016*. Modified: 8:52pm On May 11, 2016 |
Samtoby:a lot of your posts highlight your ignorance - or perhaps you aren't a real geek, but just a regular user. I have both Lumia and Android, I know exactly what am talking about. I have update to Windows 10 on Lumia, my Android is still at Android 5.1 while Android 7.0 is about to be release... What you wanna say about that?for a techie, you are showing abysmal ignorance. the only devices guaranteed updates to the latest version of android are nexus devices. surely you know the bane of android is fragmentation? samsung will only provide 2 years worth of android version updates to flagship devices only. the only low end android device guaranteed updates to the latest version of android is the infinix android one. so if you're bragging about not updating your android device by choice - unless its a nexus or a 2015 flagship device, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about Halo and others is exclusively Xbox games and Uncharted and others, God of War is for PlayStation..this is another abysmal display of ignorance. the mobile market is significantly different from the console market. there are no ecosystem exclusives per se. simple example - the halo spartan games on windows mobile are already available on ios. Developers choice is on releasing games on any OS they want.. as far as other developers build WP version of their apps, others can if they want and if they didn't want, other awesome games are there to play with..developers will go where the market is. if you've been reading, you would know ms is desperately trying to make it easy to port ios and android apps to windows by introducing virtualization. They however work on WP later.if you've been following news, you would find microsoft has lagged seriously in support for windows mobile. windows mobile was supposed to be released beside windows 10 in july last year. it didnt happen. delayed to october. didnt happen. delayed to december. didnt happen. finally released in febuary. meanwhile ms has shot out at least two major updates for windows. you know what a stepchild is? that what it is. MS itself is not lavishing that much by way of resources on WP. Bro do I need to explain what Technical Preview means, it's not official released, it's full of bugs and that is why it's released out for people to detect the bugs and report back to MS. Technical Preview is never for people to use but to help MS in identifying and reporting bugs.the word is technical preview. like you said. not alpha, not beta, not release candidate, but technical preview. almost ready for the big time. and i am running the slow ring [you know ms has fast ring and slow ring releases? you know the slow ring releases are supposed to be relatively stable?] Google Now is not functioning like Cortana is functioning, like I said Google Now is just to search online, nothing else. But Cortana is just like Siri, they are both built base on regions.you clearly have no idea how much google now does. google estimates my daily drive to work. google hits me with this alert almost as soon as i drive out of the house. i'm not even going to bother listing its features - i will just point you towards an old lifehacker article http://lifehacker.com/top-10-awesome-features-of-google-now-1577427243 Hungry Shark evolution is both available for WP and Android, so what do u mean??and there it is. there is a new game - hungry shark world. you don't even know about it. thats the experience of the windows user. i open my ios app store, and its right in my face. maybe if you're lucky, it will find its way to windows in the next three months. don't bet on it though. the developers have undoubtedly studied the returns and decided there is no point. Can you give me a good example of multi platform apps ignored on WP??i have listed these before, but i will do so again - pocket, chrome, firefox, hangouts, adblock browser, instagram [the beta has been yanked off], pushbullet, simplenote, keep, youtube, sunrise calendar [ms actually had to buy this app], trello. those are just a few productivity apps that are conspicuously absent in the windows mobile store. Bro, in as much as MC5 is available on WP, when it gets update is developers business. They can update the app anytime they want.. besides, getting rapid update on iOS and Android might be cuz of user complain on crush and bugs they detect..yes, developers decide which os they will provide the most support for, based on the size of user base and returns. i use evernote on all platforms. evernote just got updated to version 6 on windows desktop. it has been updated similarly on ios and android. windows mobile? - no dice. an app like flux, which introduced night illumination and which is avaialble for android, ios[jailbroekn] windows desktop. is nowhere to be found on windows mobile most of those supporters of windows mobile are in blissful ignorance of all the things they are missing; which also speaks to the developers' assessment of their user base. it is the same reason the only real company pushing windows mobile devices is microsoft. the worst part for windows mobile users is that there are no Microsoft exclusives. every single app on windows mobile is available for android and ios. office, outlook, onenote, one drive, halo, officelens. so there is really nothing to crow about. the selling point of any mobile os is it's apps store. in addition to being sparsely populated, there are no cool deals on the windows app store. on ios EVERY WEEK a premium app is given away for free. there are site that point you to daily deals for very good apps for free. there are also flash sales where apps are sold at a fraction of their prices. the same holds for android though not as frequently. until a year or so ago , if you set up amazon appstore you had access to a free app a day, and a windfall on easter, thanksgiving and christmas. for windows, most of the so called deals apps push already free apps or paywall apps at you. the last real bonanza was in October when ms gave away multiple apps at 10 cents each. thats what windows mobile is. a subpar experience. however, if you are not a power user, or exposed to the vastness of the ios and android marketplace, you can live happily in the delusion that you are enjoying a superior mobile experience. after all it is the same nairaland where people boldly compare shiiit tecno 'flagships' to samsung flagship devices. |
