This Kachikwu talks these days like Lai. So many phantasmagoric promises.
Dangote refinery project was commissioned in 2013 and projected to start operation by 2017/18, but here is Kachikwu promising 3 new refineries by 2019 in the mid 2016. Just words of mouth to excite people.

Dangote refinery is a mega refinery, am sure these three refineries won't be as big as dangote's own. It takes 3yrs to build a refinery And 6 to 12 months to build a modular refinery. With the resources already available at warri, Kaduna and ph, it will not take time to build refineries at these locations.

Most of the people comment that this is another way to embezzle money still think this is gej era where money disappear to thin air.

PLEASE READ MORE; BUHARI'S GOVERNMENT ALREADY SIGNED MOU WITH CHINESE COMPANIES TO BUILD 3 NEW REFINERIES AT BAYELSA, KOGI AND LAGOS. SO HOPEFULLY, WE SHOULD HAVE ABOUT 8-10 NEW REFINERIES BEFORE 2020.

1) SIX NEW ONES FROM GOVERNMENT PARTNERSHIP WITH PRIVATE INVESTORS NAMELY: BAYELSA, KOGI, LAGOS, KADUNA, WARRI AND PORT-HARCOURT.
2) 1-2 NEW REFINERIES FROM DANGOTE IN LAGOS AND OGUN STATE
3) 1 IN SOUTH EAST BY A PRIVATE GROUP
4) 1 IN LAGOS AROUND BADAGRY BY ANOTHER PRIVATE GROUP.

EVEN IF NIGERIA HAS 20 PETROCHEMICAL REFINERIES THEY ARE STILL NOT ENOUGH BECAUSE WE HAVE THE RAW MATERIAL I.E. CRUDE OIL OF 3 MAJOR BLENDS. SO WE CAN EXPORT REFINED /WHITE PRODUCTS TO OTHER AFRICAN COUNTRIES OR EVEN BEYOND.

CONCLUSION: INFORM YOUR RICH RELATIVES TO INVEST IN REFINERY BUSINESS AND PROVIDE JOBS FOR THE TEEMING YOUTHS OF THIS GREATLY BLESSED NATION.

Every year Nigerian government claims they want to build refineries and collect money for the purpose and yet, we do not have a well structured refineries, the once on ground are not really functional because of poor maintenance. Why are the government dis selfish, wicked and stupid.

I don't understand this government, today we will so this, today we will do that. We are not seeing the actions on ground.

OBVIOUSLY, YOU ARE THE STUPID ONE BECAUSE YOU ARE TOO LAZY TO READ THE NEWS BEFORE YOU MADE YOUR COMMENT. HERE GOES: TWO OF THE OLD REFINERIES ARE NOW WORKING EVEN IF NOT OPTIMALLY. ACCORDING TO KACHUKWU, TWO REFINERIES HAVE NOT WORKED AT THE SAME TIME SINCE OVER 10 YEARS. HE ALSO SAID THEY ARE BUILDING NEW ONES IN THE OLD PLACES SO THAT THEY CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FACILITIES ALREADY ON GROUND IN THOSE PLACES SUCH AS CRUDE CARRYING PIPELINES SO THAT WILL REDUCE COST AND ALSO INCREASE DELIVERY TIME OF CONSTRUCTION.

WHILST BUILDING NEW REFINERIES IS NOT THE SOLUTION TO THE OLD ONES NOT WORKING PROPERLY, BUT NEW REFINERIES BECOMES A MUST WHEN THE OLD ONES ARE GULPING $500M FOR TURN AROUND MAINTENANCE ON A YEARLY BASIS.

PUT IT SIMPLY: ONLY A FOOL WILL CONTINUE TO SPEND HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO MAINTAIN AN OLD SMALL SEDAN CAR WHEN HIS FAMILY IS INCREASING IN SIZE AND HE CAN BUY A NEW FAMILY-SIZE, MINI-VAN AT A FAIR PRICE.

Government (Hausa and Yoruba) cannot manage NITEL, NEPA,Nigerian AIRWAY, ETC ,is it now they Will be able to do it, let the private sector do the job as we can confirm that without mtn, glo,, Etisalat, etc, NITEL cannot give us gsm

Doing same thing over and over again and expecting different result is the height of insanity. Government does not have business in doing business. APC led administration should privatilize the downstream sector to make it attractive to private investors. Building rifenaries by government is a waste of time, money.

This administration is not ready to govern. You see the fluctuation in oil prices and instead of you to diversify and look at other areas of the economy to grow, increase exports and gain revenue, you decide to double down and build more refineries despite the fact that we can’t even maintain the ones we have currently
Is this not madness? Then please look at one of the comments, the minister made

So he is not even sure that the refineries will even work after 4 YEARS IN POWER
Government is focusing on the wrong thing
