This dssc is for professionals, yet you have to prove you have the qualities of a soldier, or it would have been called employment instead of enlistment.
So I think you should better quit your ambition to join NAF, if you don't want to follow the rule, instead of trying to come to this thread to ridicule our noble profession (medicine)
And mind you, other profession are as important as medicine, so I think you should start to reconsider if you really want to join
Once again, if it's for the money, go practice in the middle east, or join residency or open a private clinic, as a doctor you can never be poor

Plus cos we're fit to get in don't mean we'll remain fit when we're in. There are so many fat and unfit military personnels out there. Some I saw even at the zonal enlistment centers; looking at them, you'll bet they can't run 3.2km to save their lives, yet there're soldiers with NAF.

Nobody is asking you to run like olympians, and that's why they're giving you 18 minutes for 3.2km. Olympians run 5km in 10 minutes. You guys are making it look like 3.2km is such a difficult task to complete in 18 minutes (for males). Actually, an averagely fit person should be covering that distance in a much less time!

the 18mins given is the highest for an average fit man, 20mins for women
The world record holder for marathon cover 1km in less than 2.7mins but NAF only want u to use a minimum of 5.6mins to cover the same distance
So u should see that it's not an athlete that they want but a normal average person that can undergo training
A doctor should know, there are normal range for every thing
Same way, a doctor perform/request for investigation to know if a patient is within the normal range, that is how NAF are conducting theirs to know those that are within the normal range
Confirming that you are fit does not mean you will remain fit, but it's better than enlisting an unfit person that will most likely die during training, and the family will start asking compensation
And also being in administration, if you are not fit to be a soldier will be a disaster.

No think am if gbege start the ones with the pot belle you think are unfit would surprise you. I remember at where I served during NYSC, the CO challenged anyone who could out run him to step forward during sports. See corpers stepping out feeling tough, as whistle blew we all ate dust and these are guys that are "fit" and all. The CO had good belle hail the senior men... hehehehe

Let's put an end to all this nagging, this race is the fastest way to determine you have some stamina to do the work, which they will still work on when you get there. It is Better to do your maths and make peace with it or have a change of heart. In 2013 that was how One Baba who didn't do his research well came for training, few days later he packed his bags saying he was no longer interested, he didn't want to plant his head on the ground and do other things he considered inhumane or whatever. It's either you take it as you see it or let it go, even if we talk from now till next year it won't change so its best to prepare for it.

Anyone that can't inconvenient his/her body can't be a soldier. .to become a soldier is all about Endurance ( your ability to survive excessive pains of the two measure physically and mentally ).. A real soldier will let you know that pain' is a diseases that affect ones mindset and the ability of man. A man who can endure can bring out the extraordinary human in him.. All human possess extraordinary ability that we can't imagine until we put it into practice, because practice makes a rhythm glows.. . Don't say I can't, say it's well and prove you can do it more. .. As for those who are going for the pay, it's well wit your soul..

I still can't imagine how people think.. They don't want to be trained to be a military personnel, they just want to become a personnel with civilian blood... Which is so impossible.. It's either they give in for it or they give up in doing it..

Pls and pls can we stop this debate on past question and race of 3.2km?
We should be deliberating and encouraging ourselves to keep in touch with who and who we know because shortlisting is ongoing and we are arguing about race
When you get the message believe me,the motivation to share pastquestion will come up and the shear determination to do the race if you truly want to be in the military

I'd like to know, if successfully enlisted into the Airforce DSSC, is there some sort of possible conversion from whatever you are enlisted as to a Pilot that would actually fly?
I mean besides the conversion to a regular combatant after some specified years.
Something almost immediately after being enlisted, particularly when you already have commercial pilot training.
