Do you really have to say this?
Romantic novels do not stimulate the creative part of the human brain.

I didn't even know Nigerian girls read. I thought I was the only one. Currently reading Inferno

Nigerian girls read. I saw a girl reading about 1,000+ pages. I told her it will take me 20years to complete that.

Of course.. The bashing of women by men never ends. Even a simple thread about 'READING NOVELS' has turned into women are this and women are that.. Na wa ooo

I'm sure it's just a very few who are readers and read novels. Most times I see girls reading just their religious books and maybe a couple of motivational books but never novels.

80% of Nigerian Gurls center their focus on Romance Novels... I guess it gives em some kind of Inner trips...

This is not women bashing, it's a fact. I have a lot of girlfriends who don't read, and the few who try to read only do so out of bare necessity, not reading just for the fun of it.
I know this because I ones told a girlfriend of mine just the other day that the new Dan Brown's movie will be out soon and I just downloaded the book to read, and she asked me why, since the movie will soon be out. True Story.

On Tuesday, I brought along three copies of novels by Bisi Daniels, Nigeria's leading adventure novelist as I left with the cast and crew of my "Sights and Sounds of Lagos" tourist documentary film for the final locations of the remaining scenes. All the babes rushed for the novels, but the guys did not even attempt to glance through the pages from morning to evening. And the ladies, Franca Aide, Celina Ideh and Cynthia Chima, were very happy when I told them to keep the books.

Over the years since my childhood, growing up in Nigeria, I have seen that Nigerian girls read more novels than Nigerian boys. You will also see more Nigerian women reading books than Nigerian men, especially among the Igbo's and Yorubas. But in contrast, more than 90% of Nigerian authors are men who are among the best writers in the world, including the first black Nobel Prize winner in Literature, the lionized Prof. Wole Soyinka and the first youngest winner of the Booker Prize, the iconic Ben Okri. That means Nigerian women prefer reading to writing.

O.p buy one for me na, I'm a novel addict. Love those novels you bought already. embarassed

Women read more of Hailey Chase novels, which, to me, are not intellectually challenging. I hate seeing those novels each time I patronize second hand book sellers.
Sir, Hailey Chase novels are some of the most intellectually challenging novels ever. I have read over 30+ of the novels.

The dude is crazy, the cover page usually portray semi nude girls but the contents are way different. He write mostly about crimes, investigations... You will get addicted fast when u read one

there's no doubt about this assertion. Girls develop the hobby of reading Novels because they stay more at home compared to the boy's who'd rather spend their time outdoors playing football or other means of distraction.
This is a hobby that eventually sticks to them all through their adult life.

Yes they do but they read it for fun because what they read does not reflect in their life. Even after reading they still act weird instead of them to use what they read to improve their intelligence quotient because i believe the reason why we read is for self development but its opposite when it comes to our nigerian babe
thank you my guy. And they also love reading romantic novels too. But their intelligent quotient is still low beyond comprehension. Naijababes are stvpid

Re: Nigerian Babes Read More Novels Than Nigerian Guys by HaneefahRN(f): 8:09am On May 13, 2016
It depends on upbringing too, I have been reading real novels since I was about 7. My parents present us with books as gift, so I fell in love with reading novels early. But some people can't read novels to save their life. Even those in art class will start looking for someone to read and explain in detail for them.
Interests differ, some would rather watch films and other hobbies.

Guys do read novels too though. I can't say which gender does that more.

Do you really have to say this?

Why are you disputing that fact? Some of you that read most become too wise in your own sight, and sometimes move from one guy to the other -- looking for the best until menopause strikes. There is a popular girl in nairaland here. She has read so much that she has almost become infallible with words usage. But she is now drifting toward feminism, and she doesn't know it. If a man catches her attention with evidences that best ideals are existent in his cerebration, she labels him a potential threat. Literature paves way for the mind to drift toward correcting social injustices, and shoring up eternal wisdom. But most of our women love literature because of the material gains that their subconscious tends to be programmed with, understanding of trending lifestyles, and not the immortal values of the spirit man. If a budding Nigerian writer like me ventures into a genre different from romance, the work may not see the light of the day.
