Skywalker, why don't you see reasons for the increment of salary? if these heartless leaders could increase pump price at this time of half payment without considering public economy, tell me what stops them from increasing the salary? |

NNPC Mega station in Auchi, Edo state sold at 135/L throughout yestday, seems somthing is fishing, APC govt is a scam as real cost of importing/distributing Pms is far lesser dan 145/L. While will FG peg maximum price as high as 145/L wen 120/L can do it? |

[quote author=Acidosis post=45693370]I've already given a breakdown analysis of how the white collar workers would be the worst hit. Okada men, in spite their zero economic knowledge know how to increase their fees when prices of fuel increase. This applies to other unskilled workers, artisans, etc. It is the white collar folks, especially those in the private sector that would suffer. Sell a litre at N1000, that illiterate danfo driver would run his business profitably, it is you the all knowing educated economist with a static salary that will suffer. Before you oppose or support this movement, think! think! and think about your circumstance. While some can easily make their clients increase their fees, many employees cannot. In fact, when prices of fuel increase, there is likelihood that some would lose their jobs. If you're a skilled worker, do not resist anti-government forces unless you have an oil bloc somewhere. The same artisans and the rich you want to help with 'subsidy' are wiser. Totally agree with you. Lots of drilling engineers over the past 6months have been idle at home for lack of jobs, oil servicing companies have laid off alot of staff while those working are on half salaries. Its really tough yet alot of nigerians still dont understand the kind of hardship that this would cause. There are so many cards/moves on the table for the FG, removal of subsidy at this point clearly isnt one of them |

the same story will play out;strike will commence, another meeting will be called,10naira or less will be removed from 145...labour will then call off the strike...yeye country. |

ezivision:Are you "ezi" (good) vision or "ezi" (pig) vision? The last time I checked it was an unconscionable zombie who supports a draconian attempt by a self-serving and fantastically corrupt government to impoverish Nigerians and bring the economy to its knees. The needful thing for Buhari and APC would have been to get out of the kitchen by tendering their resignation since they are evidently overwhelmed by the task of governance. Nigeria will survive this comedy and try by error administration ... |

oshiomole is really very annoying. why will he kicked against wages increase on d excuse that its not sustainable at d moment. but his senseless spending of edo collective wealth is sustainable right? i feel osho baba is acting out a script written by other state govts and that is not good for the country at d moment. if mist of them can afford to be dolling out millions of cash and buying expensive cars for galfriends, sixty thousand minimum wage shouldnt be a big deal to pay. |

Eboski:don't mind him. I was saying it that day, some people were still quoting me and saying what they don't know. Some Nigerians will never learn. He just increased it for the upcoming election in EDO... |

Eboski:Oshiomole increased minimum wage to #25,000. Labour is asking for #56,000 minimum wage when state like Osun could not pay #18,000. Please grow up.... |

Increment is non-negotiable at this junction. The FG are well aware of this before making the move. How much should be the subject-matter. |

Esperooke:Why are we always quick to call names and stir up troubles? The policy on deregulation is a good one, but what palliative measures did the govt put in place to help alleviate the current sufferings? No matter how good a policy is, the timing and implementation process matters a whole lot. I pray God see us through this trying phase as a nation. |

N18,000 was roughly $120 then. Simple Math1: $120*199 (CBN)+inflation @12% (to be f00lishly conservative)= present minimum wage= N26,745. Simple Math2: $120*330 (Average between bank rate and BM)+inflation @12% (to be f00lishly conservative)= present minimum wage= N44,352. My Verdict: In order to check hyper-inflation and considering probably the Naira might appreciate in the near future N26,745+N44,352/2= N35,553 =Minimum Wage. |

thonyman:Seems you r only good at criticising that, you fail to even understand the question you are asking before you ask it. You can't tell us you don't understand what "MAXIMUM PEG" means. For the benefit of doubts, it simply means Anything Below N145. So if NNPC sells at N135, they are on course. I think you should raise an eyebrow if they were selling at N146. See diesel, today we can buy at about N90 per litre whereas some places sell for N120-150pl. That's what deregulation comes with. It's not scam. It's a reality you either choose to key into, or sit on the fence. |
