Equate the percentage increase in Fuel price to the required increase in minimum wage nation wide.

QED.

This isn't right.

Let me bare an unbiased opinion about this since it appears the wailers are simply too dumb to engage on in any constructive and intelligent argument- all I've been hearing are insults and "apologise to Jonathan".

No Wailer has been able to ask one a very IMPORTANT question regarding one VERY OBVIOUS ANOMALY surrounding this whole "subsidy removal/deregulation" stuff, and that question is: if the government had earlier claimed that they subsidise petrol by about N17 per litre, then why on earth isn't fuel selling for approximately N103 per litre ( ie 86+17) as against N145 or the N120 allegedly being proposed now??

Wailers, make una try get small sense so una go fit put us, and perhaps, the government, on our toes. Throwing insults around and getting tens of likes wouldn't get you lot anywhere.

Government needs to tell us why it is 145 and not 103.
I believe they put that figure because of foreign exchange rate. They assumed marketers will buy black market at 289 or so because of shortage. If they want to be fair, then let them remove fuel import completely from forex allowed products and allow people looking for bta and form1 to have easier access to this scarce exchange.

The government should know that the incessant increase in fuel pump price is draining the pocket of Nigerians especially the fixed income earners. Petrol is like the life-wire of Nigerian economy. Most businesses and homes depend on petrol-powered generators for their energy needs. The railway system in Nigeria is non functional so people either drive themselves or use commercial vehicles powered with petrol to transport their goods. It is really unfortunate that Nigerians are subjected to this periodic hardship by pump price increment. Government should think of other ways of generating revenue. The mining sector is almost in coma and the gains made in Agriculture under Dr Akinwunmi as a minister is almost eclipsed by the activities of herdsmen.

I can't recall the zombies getting small sense on this same idea in 2012 when the wailers came up with this same idea of the subsidy removal.

The rate used to draw the N86.5 pump price is the official exchange rate(N199/$1) while the rate used to draw the N145.0 pricing is the parallel market exchange rate(N320/$1).
Got it?
What some Nigerians are clamouring for now is the removal of NIMASA, landind cost charges etc to lower the pump price.
Chikena!

Re: FG Proposes N120 Per Litre, Labour Leaders Kick by muyiwaojo1(m): 9:48am On May 17, 2016
Very simple..... Insist on(maximum) 100 per liter, and an increment in salary. This will balance d equation to a reasonable level. A little percentage of the so called subsidy can assist in the salary increment... At least, the subsidy money won't be going to those thieves anymore...

Reason for pegging it to N 145 is that they are aware that Nlc will still kick against the increment so by increasing to 145 after much talk the price will be reduced to what they wanted

Is all about bargaining power.lol

JAMB QUESTION: Define Partial Subsidyhuh
What u fail to understand is that this current fuel price hike isnt just about subsidy. We simply lack the forex to buy the product. Unlike in 2012 when we were enjoying surplus income from oil sales, that purse has all but dried up.

Now if u are not providing fores for marketers, it means they have to source it elsewhere and at exorbitant price. And guess who pays for it??

Its not rocket science really. Either u pay subsidy and control the price or u remove it and capitalism sets it. The price cap fg has put is simply to prevent the public from undue exploitation. But there is a limit to that cos dollar still trades for more than 300. U get it now??
