Bank workers and customers in Lagos ignored the call by a faction of NLC that workers should go on strike on Wednesday as banking activities remained normal.

A correspondent of News Agency of Nigeria who visited some banks in Lagos reported that they all opened for business.

She, however, reported that security was beefed up at bank premises on Marina and Central Business District on Lagos Island as heavy police presence was noticed there.

Normal activities were also reported in banks in Ojuelegba, Mushin and on Ikorodu Road.

Some of the workers told NAN that they resumed as usual as early as 7am.

They said that some customers, who were not sure of the situation, arrived before the opening time of 8am.

A worker in one of the banks said his bank had kept on assuring customers that the bank would open to customers.

“You can see by yourself that activities in our branch are normal, we are law abiding organisation.”

At another bank, a customer said that she was surprised that various banks opened.

“First, I was in doubt if banks would open because of the speculation that a faction of the NLC would stage a protest today.

“But believe me, activities are normal, but just that security is tight probably because of the fact that miscreants may want to take advantage of the situation.

Another customer said he was happy that banks opened as he was scared of keeping money in his shop.

This strike would become a mockery to its benefactor at the end.

on a day 1 that ought to come with flee and vigour the result is evident to all mixed with an all time low enthusiasm.

for once lets get this deregulation done with and see how it goes.
their is no hardship, endurance that nigerians hasnt been faced with b4 and this wont kill us(i dont support government recklesness) but i do think this is the last straw we havent endured for once.
lets see how it goes for the next six to eight months and give kachukwu the benefit of a doubt when he said we would see the outcome.

fuel subsidy was also removed during gej time but the mistrust nigerians had with either him or his top women handlers made them request the removal for six months 1st quater in other to accertain what would happen in the 2nd quater.

true to assumptions the proceeds where squandered with multi billion naira spent on a couple buses in abuja, that in all ramification is what some folks term GEJ PALLIATIVES

That last customer that commented should have kept the money in the shop, and his/her life will never remain the same. Lools

Lagos Industrial / Business Sector doesnt have the time for meaningless and unfruitful nationwide strike.

I'm less concern with NLC strike, because i believe the group are fighting for their pocket with the masses mask.

And i must commend PDP for not playing dirty politics unlike ruling party that know that remover of subsidy by GEJ is in the best interest of the country but still went ahead to against his decision because of political interest.

If APC leadership had done what PDP are doing now by supporting subsidy remover then I'm very sure we might have recover.

NLC did not strike from Oct till May....where we're having the longest fuel scarcity in history with fuel being sold for over N300/litre but want to commence strike now for N145/litre. Is this commonsense at all? They should be ignored!

I hope they understand when NLC ignores their protest?

Good. Those of us who need to hustle daily to make money are going to sit out of this strike. Is NLC going to come and give me a job should I lose it because I was absent to go and protest? Or are they going to compensate me for lost customers because instead of being at my business, I was out and about protesting. Goverment should just forget about regulating or fixing any price and let the market decide

Trouble Dey oooo..!!
..
First of all, it would be bad if the strike itself enters next week.
Secondly, and most importantly,, it would be worst if banks and other financial institutions join the strike at any time at all.
