You know I always wondered why John was called "the disciple whom Jesus loved"; who Christians today call 'John the beloved'.
Why was he referred to as the one that Jesus loved. Does that mean Jesus didn't love the other disciples? Of course not! It means John occupied a special place in Jesus' heart, much like our spouses and dear friends.
It's not that we don't love other people, but some persons are just special and dear to us, right? I reckon that's how Jesus considered John.
But what did He do differently from the others to be called "THE DISCIPLE WHOM JESUS LOVED"?

Here's a clue...

John himself wrote that to about the fact of his status at the time of his writing the gospel. Jesus Christ said in His Gospel that His Love is reserved only for those who live their lives in continuous submission and obedience of His teachings and commandments - John 15 vs 1 - 14 -- those approved Holy and Righteous by God under His New Covenant Law and Truth. John didn't mean that He was the only one loved by Jesus Christ but He was loved nonetheless.

Jesus Christ did say that His love belonged to those among His followers who obeyed His teachings and commandments.
