Port Harcourt Vs Enugu Which Is More Developed? by Spiff20(m): 11:44pm On May 22, 2016
So i've heard alot about Enugu being so developed, planned, beautiful and all, but i've never been there. I've lived in Port Harcourt for almost half of my life, seen sea ports, airports, stadiums, few high rise buildings, lots of banks, eateries, hotels, industries, refineries, bridges, road networks, gardens a massive population generating traffic and so many attributes of a bustling mega city. So am just curious to ask and please this goes to those who have lived in both cities, with all this things i've mentioned, is Enugu more developed than Port Harcourt?

Btw: some even claim Enugu metroplis looks like lagos island.

There is no need for this dumb comparism.
Enugu is secured, peaceful, less/no traffic, has one of the 3 best road networks in Nigeria, greenery, Beautiful estates, well planned streets, clean environment, Less Noise, Serenity, No/little flooding after rain. Etc
O42 is a class.
PH is okay but its unorganised to me with heavy traffics, flooding after rain and insecurities here and there, high cost of living, Sodom and Gomorrah center of Nigeria etc..

that happened in a rural area and it is evil to mock people in their predicament.
There are stories like that you can find in every state.

am not sure you understood the op, he used features of a modern mega city. Ph has the 2nd busiest sea port and 3rd busiest airport in Nigeria, good number of bridges and interchanges, more internationally recognized, more populated and even more so city wise I'd go with Ph any day.

okay so there's no flooding in enugu when it rains and people can actually sleep with their doors open? Umm pls go through those benchmarks i made for the comparison, cos i think you mistook ph for calabar which in my opinion calabar is more serene, safe, has less trafic, little/no flooding, clean environment, lots of greenery(off my hat for them) and well planned streets too lined with boulevards.

Port Harcourt is more advanced but Enugu is generally finer with reservations because of a nasty red soil type as against Port Harcourt's clear sandy soil which is more pleasant to the eyes.

Opinions are a.ssholes, everyone has their own.
I personally feel that the only Nigeria city that can beat Enugu in city planning, serenity and organization is only Abuja.

I have been to PH before, and was not in any bit impressed. I strongly rank Enugu as a city higher than PH.

I am biased? Well likewise every other poster here, including the OP, so what are independent non biased experts saying?

Well, look here:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/enugu-makes-history-joins-worlds-100-resilient-cities/

Enugu is not a higher city than Port Harcourt. It is rather a laid back city with less distortion of its master plan. Port Harcourt is like a real city and comes behind Lagos and Abuja in terms of advancement not beauty.

That's your personal opinion. Sorry if I don't share it.

I have been to PH before, and see nothing Mega about it. Just a city flowing with oil money with exorbitant food and commodities prices.

Enugu ranks many times higher as a city than PH, and good a thing the international community agrees with me:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/enugu-makes-history-joins-worlds-100-resilient-cities/

Btw, posting posh pictures of Enugu here will be waste of time, as we might end up stretching this thread to many pages with pics, but still achieve nothing, cos in the end, our personal bias will not give way for objective assessment. But good a thing Enugu got the nod here:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/enugu-makes-history-joins-worlds-100-resilient-cities/
That's an independent source.

PH is only Nigeria's third city, because of the cashflow. But if we are only looking at cashflow, then even Aba and Onitsha ranks higher up than Enugu in that regard.

Oga Op,
Instead of asking lame questions here, Enugu is only 2 hours away from PH. Infact peace Mass transport will charge you N500-1,000 naira for the trip.
So why can't you go there? Instead of asking people who have NEVER been to PH nor Enugu to compare?

Was born in Port Harcourt, schooled in UNN, I know both city Very well and this my conclusion

Enugu is better planed, the only place planed in pH is the old township

Road network s enugu anyday, thank God for ameachi if not Port Harcourt roads were a mess, he did alot yet not upto enugu

Economy, Port Harcourt is light years ahead of enugu

Social life, bros leave am enugu win am, but pH try sha

Beauty, Enugu is naturally beautiful, most people shouting calabar have not really been to enugu, been to calabar many times and can say authoritatively that owerri and enugu beats it in terms of arrangement and beauty
PH try sha. .. But way back in the line

The truth is that pH was never designed to be a big city it was supposed to be a Port city to serve enugu

So in all enugu win am ooh

am in school in calabar, so i should just wake up one morning, bring out a whooping sum of #2000 and travel to enugu for sight-seeing? Nah, that's not wise, something has to take me there.
