Like many before me, it depends on what you want to achieve and the niche you are looking at.
Mode of monetization also matters. On a personal note, I prefer website with a specific niche and my targeted audience cuts across the world, not just Nigeria because of what I want to achieve.
Remember, we all must not be Linda ikeji or Seun etc.
I prefer Affiliate revenue to Google AdSense.

But really, the difference between a blog and a website is not wide. You still write blogs for posting on a website.

The easiest way to go about both is to:
1) Choose an interest(Niche, it could be your passion like gaming,cooking, photographic etc.).
2) build a site or blog around your interest targeting people that are also interested in the same thing you have passion for.
3) Attract traffic by posting quality contents regularly, with targeted keywords (low hanging fruits).
4)Monetized your site or blog for revenue( Amazon Affiliate my best choice)

It is not blog or website that fetch money bro. It is what you offer. What are you going to offer? The answer to this question will determine whether you need a blog or website. I will advice you not to focus on the money you are going to make. Rather, think and focus on what you will offer that will be of great benefit to the public and the money will follow. If you do it this way, you will succeed and remember that it will takes time.

When you want to start a website/blog....don't have the mind set of making money yet....cos u might get frustrated on the way and end up loosing everything. You need to have passion for it writing and blogging for you to succeed . The money doesn't come immediately. I have a blog...and I can boldly tell you that since I started it...I have not made anything out of it but I keep spending money to make it look good and create traffic.

So my advice is this, don't have the mindset of money now..just follow tour passion either website or blog can pay well when the right time comes.

I think you need to chill first on the whole 'money' priority mindset and learn the in and out of a blog/website. If you solely want to bring in the cash then be ready to part with some money so as to get money.
