The management of Diamond Bank shocked their workers on the early hours of May 27 with a massive shakeup that affected almost all the branches nationwide. According to an insider,the affected persons were not mailed to inform them of their layer off instead they were called to inform them during work hours. It gathered that some of them were logged off from the bank portal they worked with even before they received the sad call. Investigating further, it was revealed that in some branches, some units were totally closed down,sacking every member of the unit. It was pandemonium in some branches as some people couldn't work while waiting to know it they would receive the dreaded call as the sack call kept coming till around 2pm. As at the time of this report,over 400 are already out of job in Diamond Bank.
This was said to be necessary in order to save the bank almost 800 million naira monthly in wage bill. Most of the sacked workforce were senior officers who earned 400,000 naira and above. It was gathered that this was the first of many layoffs to come in Diamond Bank considering the recession in Nigerian economy.

Don't mind them with their poor mentality. Do they know the liabilities one has? do they know how long they had to work in order to achieve 400k monthly, feeding, school fees, health, rent, maintenance, extended family etc...

The truth is that bank work don spoil finish and that is why I have turned down chances to work there.
I don't know if I should mention the name but let me say FC*M actually called me one time as a senior manager, I didn't go o.

My friends in the banking industry will discourage from joining them because they say they can be sacked any moment. Question, why are they still on the Job? No job anywhere I guess.

My younger bro used to work with former intercontinental but the sharp guy worked for two years, gathered his pay together and Waka o. Himself and a colleague are overseas doing PhD now and live overseas for 4yrs now. Plan B I guess. The bank gave them the platform to travel.

I feel sorry for those sacked ones sha because getting a new job is crazy.

bros, my senior brother works in Diamond Bank and he lost his Job yesterday. Prior to the sack, he earned 500k as the head of logistics in Rumuomasi branch Ph. And all his colleagues that lost their jobs are people earn around that . Sacking a junior staff won't save the bank anything.

400k is for lower middle management. The 800k you mentioned is for senior management. Executive management collects mind boggling salaries together with pecks of office and all.

Bankers are shrewd investors and they won't hungry. I know because I played in that league at a very high level.

The curious thing about it is the co-ordinated manner they are doing it. FCMB and Unity Banks sacked on the same Friday using the same approach of not sending mail but sacking by telephone calls.

How strong is this Diamond Bank? At the tail-end of GEJ administration last year, they sacked a whooping 1,000. Now, a year later another 400.
