Hmm. That's a strong point. Those guys are paid thousands of dollars per day and the Syrian government has no money neither do they have natural resources.

US Navy seals in Syria.

We can see that at-least aesthetically, there is no difference between a US Navy seal/Green Beret from a Nigerian commando in the field.

what do i get for identifying the rocket launcher ? grin grin

anyways the mystery weapon in question is RL-83 Blindicide Rocket Launcher

the israelis used them for a while and is now retired.

The RL-83 Blindicide is an antitank rocket launcher produced by Mecar SA of Belgium and was an improved derivative of the M20A1 Bazooka. Its name roughly means "tank killer", derived from the French "véhicule blindé" (armoured car) and the suffix -cide.

i told you it was a derivative of super bazooka grin grin

comes in 83mm and 100mm calibre

The 83mm version fired a 1.6 kilogram projectile with a 0.5 kg warhead while the 100 mm version fired a 2.75 kg projectile. The rate of fire was six rounds per minute and the range 400 meters for both versions. The muzzle velocity of both versions varied, with the 83 mm version firing at 100 m/s while the 100 mm version fired at 195 m/s. A later round introduced for the RL-83 has a muzzle velocity of 120 m/s and uses a rocket booster to achieve a velocity of 300 m/s. The effective range of this 2.4 kg projectile is 500 meters.
The high-explosive antitank (HEAT) rocket of the RL-83 Blindicide can penetrate 300 millimeters of rolled homogeneous armour or one meter of concrete. Besides HEAT, the Blindicide can also fire anti-personnel, smoke, incendiary, and illumination rounds.

A final version of the Blindicide was the RLC-83, a shortened version of the RL-83. The RLC-83 differs from the RL-83 in having a 1.2 meter launch tube. The RLC-83 is intended to be used only with the rocket-boosted long-range projectiles.

Nigerian Army brings back physical fitness scheme

The Chief of Training and Operations, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Hassan Umaru on Friday said the Nigerian Army has revived its policy on physical fitness and mental alertness for officers and soldiers.

Umaru, according to NAN, stated this at the closing of the 2016 Corporal and Below Physical Fitness and Training Competition organised as part of training programme for soldiers serving in Army units and formations in Abuja.

He said the policy was aimed at testing and maintaining the combat readiness of troops and their commanders across the country.

According to the branch chief, the important aspect of the new training directive as demonstrated today is to ensure that troops are ready to go at any time.

He said that the exercise, which was also holding simultaneously in Army formations and units across the country, was part of the new training directive of the Army Headquarters.

Umaru particularly expressed satisfaction with the performance of the troops in the area of map reading, noting that it was an important aspect of the soldiers’ discipline.

He commended the participants’ spirit and charged them to be ready to replicate same in tasks assigned to them.

He also urged them not to disappoint their various unit commanders.

In his remark, the Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, Maj.-Gen. John Malu, said the exercise would help to maintain the soldiers’ combat readiness even as they discharged other non-combat duties in the FCT.

The commander was represented by Brig.-Gen. Ifiok Obot, the Chief of Staff at the garrison command.

Malu said the competition would go a long way in bringing back the Army’s tradition of constant training and sustenance of physical fitness, stressing that the last edition was held five years ago.

He said the performance of the soldiers showed that the Army was still united and strong in spite of the challenges associated with training and funding of related activities.

The events that featured in the four-day competition comprised map reading, weapon handling, drill, obstacle crossing and a 3.4 kilometer race.

Army Headquarters Garrison team (Team A) emerged first overall in the competition.

The garrison team garnered a total of 412.5 points in map reading, weapon handling, drill, obstacle crossing and the 3.4 kilometer race to beat the other two teams that participated in the competition.

The second position with 391.6 points from the same events was Team B which comprised all the Army’s corps headquarters based in Abuja.

Team C comprising all the departments at the Army Headquarters, came third with 328.9 points also from the same events.

The cash prizes were presented to individual soldiers that distinguished themselves in the various events while the winning and other participating teams got both cash and trophies.

Other participants include retired personnel, dependants and civilian staff. The annual competition is the height of fitness training to keep personnel mentally and physically fit for the attainment of NAF statutory roles. Army Trains Troops On Counter Terrorism Operations

The Nigerian Army has conducted a special training on counter-terrorism operations for officers and recruits.

The training was held at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, ahead of their graduation from the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria, and Command College, Jaji.

The exercise is part of efforts by the Nigerian military to expose the young soldiers to conventional ways of fighting terrorism in the northeast.

Addressing the Cadets at the end of the exercise, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai, said the training has become necessary due to the emerging security challenges, which requires effective training of troops in the art of counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.

He express satisfaction with the performance of the troops, adding that most of them would be deployed to the north east and other troubled parts of the country to fight the Boko Haram group and other related crimes.

Over 2, 000 recruits from the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria took part in the exercise.

The training, which exposed them to combat bush exercise and other tactics, is the last lap of their training before their passing out from the depot within the year.

After watching their training session, General Buratai, said they are good to go.

He commended the management of the Armed Forces and Command College for the effective manner they handled the troops during the training period.

The Nigerian Army has been a major facilitator and force multiplier in the fight against terrorism in the country through effective training of its personnel, as well as personnel of sister security services.
