The secession of the Biafran region, which was the primary cause of the Nigerian Civil War, started decades ago. It has gained renewed momentum following the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari and arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, one of the leaders of the movement, who is standing trial on six counts of treasonable felony charges.
