I don't know what exactly happened, but when mum did it early this year, all the tomatoes got foul taste. We couldn't use them for stew anywhere anymore even tho they were refrigerated always. Almost two baskets. I think it's a 50-50 thingy |

Never ever do this crap! Tomato is a vegetable and it's the worst type of food to preserve. It can be contaminated at any given time and the longer it stays without refrigeration, the faster it loses its nutritional value! What is wrong with eating fresh tomato? Tomato is not scarce and we're not in any civil war for anyone to take this useless risk. |

Well done. Would have been a lot more helpful during the time of surplus, now people can barely afford to buy fresh tomatoes talk more of preserving them. There's still the problem of epileptic power supply and refrigerating ![]() |

This is what i've been doing when going to sch. Normally lasts like 2 months though. in sch though, i dont get to use a refrigerator after first use, i only preserve it with a layer of vegetable oil ontop of it. . For those who would wanna try it, trust me, you would hate it's taste if u allow even a small portion of the burnt part of the tomatoes into it |
