Actually I'm farming for the first time so haven't really had any experience with forliar fertilizer. I just got info on forliar feeding of cucumber plants while doing more research and decided to try it out. According to the research plants tend to absorb nutrients readily from their leave more than from roots. However forliar feeding can not substitute root fertilizer application totally. As for the picture will do that tomorrow.
Ok....Foliar spray in the morning or evening. Afternoon is a no no

@the farm on Tuesday .3rd leaves emerging From the cucumbers 8 days after planting .Tranplanted some seedlings from the ground to sack to make up for the ones that failed to germinate, Watered the cucumber plants manually,Applied NPK fertilizer ,sprayed them with a portion of pesticide when I noticed 2-3 with bitten off leaves. Then to the main event[Cutting bamboo sticks for the trellis ]. I never knew dragging bamboo out from the dense vegetation was this hard. They were intertwined like Bob Marley's hair cheesy but I conquered sha .Splitting the sticks was less tasking though.Got some ropes today for setting the trellis.

Marketing is a problem for most people...even in Kaduna here. Don't know the dynamics of Osun but a friend told me that Akure is a hot spot when it comes to vegetables..so you can try since you're very close.

So now my land is ready, sacks are almost delivered to my farm, and water is coming through. I have a problem now. COMPOSTED COW DUNG!!! How do I get this? I've read from you guys like a million times how long it takes to compost cow dung effectively which obviously I can't do as we speak. Please you guys should help me as to where I can buy or probably suggest alternatives, or maybe some organic fertilizers that could fill the gap. Thanks.

Vanpeele, love love! You're doing good.

My first question is where do I get soil for the sacks... I mean how do I recognise the soil I need and where can I get it? Planted tomatoes during harmattan but they all died in February when it was supposed to start fruiting.... making me suspect the soil. Meanwhile, the peppers I planted at the same time are fruiting now and I have been harvesting them for home use, but I just noticed they look frail and no more fruiting. ..leaves are turning yellow and falling off. What could be the cause and how do I treat it?
The seeds were manufactured from my kitchen cheesy ,could that be the cause?

I guess you weren't irrigating your tomatoes that's why they dried up.. Remember we had extended period of harmatan into late February. It probably wasn't the soil as pepper and tomato requires the same type of soil and nutrients.Since you planted in harmatan which I'm guessing is November or December the pepper should be over 6 months by now. pepper like every other vegetable die of at some point so don't expect them to yield on and on. There is a method called successive planting. you plant new crop which will replace the once dieing off so you have ready to harvest vegetables and fruits all year round. Make a new nursery and start over you could try growing a few other plants which you fancy along with your pepper and tomatoes. The seeds being from your kitchen shouldn't play much part in the plant's general health as tomato and pepper are selfpollinating and I don't thing they can have notable hybrid vigour compared to most cross pollinating vegetables so I would not be buying from a seed dealer #HappyFarming

If water doesn't settle after a very heavy rain....you're ok.....if no rain....don't even try unless you'll irrigate

Thank you for responding. I was watering it and all,its just a little planting in my lawn in place of flowers. Just experimenting. So am Guessing the peppers are done with their cycle....I'll uproot them and try something different.

Still one question unanswered where do you get quality soil.?

Any loamy soil will do... You can also do some soil amendment by adding organic manure to the soil and mixing it properly.
