Solar is the cheapest alternative source of energy for long term users. However, one need to patronise good products and ensure professional installations of the product. Mind you it can be connected in series or parallel. A good connection can either make you self dependant or use a hybrid power supply in your home. We have 2types of panel namely; Mono-crystalline and poly-crystalline panels. Both work efficiently but people often prefer the mono as they believe it's out-put of same wattage is higher than poly. Batteries are also an important factor when looking at solar installations. Most of the battery we currently have in market is sub-standard and as such can frustrate the storage of solar power. An average home can comfortable work with 4 panels of 300w @ 24v. Th current market rate for this panel is 70k and above depending on the quality of the product.

Its really interesting.

We just commissioned a mega gas station adjacent to Lagos Business School in Ajah and it is fully solar powered

No single electricity from the national grid.
All ACs, pumps, lightings and equipment all get fed from the solar panel.

It cost is millions of naira

We have 48 *3 batteries. Installed i.e 144 200Ah batteries and 93KVA total power available at the station
This is huge!
We did a similar project in SHESTCO Abuja some years back!
93,000W is really huge! Did u use string inverters for this project?

You seek advice but it does seem that much of the readers here are ignorant of this. Don't blame us, it is yet not rampant. I seek advice too. About HOW MUCH will it take to install a sound solar (everything included) dt will last well, about HOW LONG will it last, will it be able to CARRY EVERYTHING in the house(like 6 bedroom bungalow) including fridge and washing maching?

I have the inverter system that feeds on either PHCN or generator. I'm considering adding solar panels and probably get off PHCN totally. Here to read and learn.

CHARGE CONTROLLER

In this case, I use a Chinese product and it did get faulty whenever my batteries discharge below the Low Voltage Disconnection Protection (LDP). In this case, I've changed this product twice (within six months) due to the guarantee period given by the guy that sold it to me. From its pack, it is more of a nameless product.

In this case, TriStar is expensive but as usual will give you value for your money. I neither know nor have I heard much about Indian brands of Charge Controllers. Although I've used one in the past which worked pretty well and always tells me when I should switch off my inverter by a red signal light. Will get the name later and post on this thread.

SOLAR PANEL

For panels, I think any panel will do. All the consumer has to do is ensure that the ratings are accurate. Ask the seller to test the Short Circuit Current and Voltage for you and once done, multiply the current (I) by the Voltage (V) to see if it is close to or same as the panel power ratings in Watts. After confirming this, just take your panel home ensuring you prevent it from damage during transport and installation, and you should be good to go. Solar panels last for as much as 20 - 25 years or more. Though in dry seasons and dusty areas, they require cleaning once in a while. However, in rainy seasons, rainfalls can help you clean them up.

My products are 2 of 300W/24V panels. Quite heavy and large.

Someone asked me to help him acquire his own system and i therefore want to get inputs from Nairalander before making my decisions on brands to go for. So I ask that users of solar system come in and give their bitter or good experience using brands of batteries, inverters, charge controllers and solar panels. And also, mods please take us to front page for more contributions
nice thread but analyzing with price attached will have helped greatly. Pls do that for would be buyers like me cos I need to be convinced really cos I still don't believe in this solar thing.and if am to use it with 1hp air condition, what and what will u recommend? Pls explain in a lay mans term

@op, all solar panels are not the same at all. The best ones are the monocrystalline type. They convert the solar energy better and last longer in use.

Solynta Energy is Nigeria's number one Solar Power company, and we are currently installing approximately 100 Solar Power Systems a month across the country. We offer a unique Pay As You Go Solar Package, which allows most Nigerians to be able to go Solar very easily and quickly. For as little as N9,000 per month, you can now go Solar and eliminate generator usage forever.

Our PAYG systems are up to 2KW (8 units of 250 watt solar panels), and is enough to power up to 90% of homes for 24 hours a day.

For more information, you can visit our website at www.solyntaenergy.com, where you can also see examples of some of our recent projects.

You can also ask me more questions here, and I'll be happy to help you.

I got each panel for N49,000 as at January, this year..

It was more of a swap deal tho.. I lost a few bucks in the process. I returned the three 130W/12V panels I got and exchanged all three for one 300W/24V panel before paying him 49K to have one extra 300W/24V. I actually needed them in 24V to make upgrade easier and for it to consume less space on the roof.
.

What is Price of 300W/24V solar panel dat time?

What is the Brand or Manufacturer ?

Can you give Merchant or seller info & location?

Hi

We don't sell individual equipment parts, and nor do we typically use 300 watt panels, as it's a non standardised size. We typically use 250 watt solar power systems. See our website for more information.
