Some people claim Obalufon 1 & 2 were Oduduwa's sons which means Obamakin, Ogun were Obatala's people. I don't know if this is in that book.

Obalufons ogbogbodinrin (Obalufon alayemore's father) factually is part of Obatala's group. Obalufon shrine is around Igbo Itapa. Infact, in my compound we used to have Ilesun, Ilale & Balea (Balea is the line of Obalufon descendants). Their house is called Ile Balea.

But I wonder why some people tag him & his son with Oduduwa

Do you have this in the book? Besides I would love to get a copy of the book.

Adegbola also has some interesting ideas about the tussle between Obatala and Oduduwa. According to him, citing different accounts (both oral and written), Obatala, Orunmila and some elders preceeded Oduduwa to Ife, but only to prepare the ground for his -Oduduwa's - arrival. On getting to the earth, Obatala was leader of the first delegation and after Oduduwa later arrived, the former refused to hand over power to the latter. It was Obameri who later rose up in arms against Obatala upon hearing that Obatala drove Oodua out of his palace. Obameri conquered Obatala and drove him out of town.

Exactly, just like I thought.

Obalufon was not Oduduwa's son. Else, Ile Balea (Obalufon compound) would not be part of Obatala's house and would not be part of Ooni crowning process.

Oranmiyan came back due to age, waged a war to truncate Obatala's hold on the throne.

You need to shut your low self-esteem fraudulent identity face for being desperate to be who you are not. You are ashamed of who you really are. Ooni doesn't cover his nose, and you need to stop catching crumbs falling of Yoruba's table to make an identity for your tribe.

Yoruba marry from all over the world and that doesn't mean that all the countries have to merge. You are ibo/edo, stay that way and give Yoruba as much respect as they give you, and everything will be fine as good neighbors.

Why?

The elders of Ife were all heads of their several sections but with a rotational confederacy and prior to Oduduwa, there had been about 90 individuals who filled the position.

If there had been about 90 something confederacy heads then it makes Oduduwa a 'prophetic' figure which is in no way historical but rather mythical.

The disagreement was largely over those who should live on hills and those who should live in the fertile valleys. Oduduwa and his clan wanted to move down from the hill to be a part of the confederacy and was opposed by others, especially Orelu Ore who poisoned a member of Oduduwa's family. (Orelu Ore started the beef).

Hill(s) settlers wanted to live and own fertile parts of the valleys but their rejection meant they had to start war.

Obatala being high from Palm Wine for most of the period made for a a horrible leader in the time of war and the dislike people like Obameri,Lokore, Baba Sigidi, Gbonkaa had for him got them switching sides.

The war was hot, there was a lot of destruction, it was in the thick of the war Obatala realized his love for alcohol/intoxication did him more harm than good and tried to quit to focus on the war but it was too late. The larger part of Ife had already grown to see Oduduwa as a better warrior/leader.

Obameri did a good job to frustrate Obatala, he forced him to Ideta Oko where the latter's brother (Osangangan Obamakin) was king (of Ugbo - Ilaje/Mahin) who then stepped down for his big brother, hence, Obatala became king in Ideta Iranje Oko - a base from where several attacks were launched but effected little to no changes. (Oba takun takun l'ode Iranje).

During our procession, we tow the same path our fathers took during the exile; from the family compound we walk through Ita Olopo Street, face the Ayegbaju church then walk through Oja Ife then come out through Moore then head for Mokuro. I think Obameri & Lokore both have/had homes in that neighbourhood considering the songs we sing when we trudge past the Ayegbaju church area depicts 'beef' song.

Oh, I should add that the Obameri guy had palm wine in a gourd while walking us out of Ife to Igbo Ogbe. When we stepped into the Mokuro axis, he drew a line/boundary by pouring palmwine on the floor drawing a line with it (an insult & a reminder of Baba's fall).

His descendants do this to us during every Itapa festival but upon our return into Ife, they pour water on the flour to wash it off for us to walk on.

Fake story! The Oonis aren't the true son of Oduduwa! He is a son of a slave that forced himself on the throne when Oramiyan travelled beyond the Niger and parts of south! Oramiyan finally settled in Oyomesi, which now forms the Oyo kingdom, which is headed by the Alaafin. Oduduwa had one son called Okanbi, who in turn had seven children, non belonging to the Ife royal families:
1. Alake of Egbaland
2. Oniketu of Ketu land
3. Orangun of Ila Orangun (Town of Bisi Akande)

5. Olowu of Owu (the town of ObJ)
6. Onisabe of Sabe

Omonoba of Benin was his grand child. Oramiyan left Ile-Ife, on coming back his slave had taken over his seat, he had to sacrifice it to avoid blood shed and headed towards the west. He was with the royal crown. His diviner had told him to settle down where his white slip (Ibi ti esin ti yo) and that is where he settled down. That is the source of the name Oyo. Oyo town of today was not was its ancient location. The were driven from Oyomesi due to war that engulfed them. Another important grandsons of Oduduwa and sons of Oramiyan are Sango and Ajasa! Ajasa married a Nupe woman and began a dynasty! Can you see why SW cannot fight Northerners! Sango relocated to the west but Ajasa preferred to stay back. For all who care to listen the present day Obas in Ile-Ife doesn't have blood affiliation with
Oduduwa! They were those on ground before the entry of Oduduwa. The are several rooms for several gods in the palace of Ooni, but one of those rooms can only be entered by the progeny of Oduduwa and not the Oonis.

seems that oriki "omo kebe bi olofofo" is restricted to your immediate family line. I am from Osinkola house (later Ojigidiri lambua) too, and I don't remember hearing of that oriki.
My family line is Adewuyi of Iremo quarters, the first son of Adekunbi Ipetu and Omoba Gbadebo. Are you an Adewuyi, Aderemi or Adeyemo?
