There is a maseive difference between oil reserve and oil production.
Most of the oil reserves in much of Igboland have been marked as strstegic reserves.

Abia state alone has more oil than the rest of Yorubaland.
Anambra has more oil than the rest of Yorubaland.
Imo has more oil than the rest of Yorubaland.

Please also note that much of the oil in Ondo is in Ijaw territory.

Let's consider gas. Anambra has more gas than any state in Nigeria followed by Imo state, but as of today, Bayelsa produces more gas than both Igbo states combined. Rivers state produces more gas than both Igbo states combined. Bear in mind that Anambra gas reserves are more than the gas reserves of both Rivers and Bayelsa states combined.

The Nigerian government that have always been anti-Igbo have made sure not to encourage, nor approve policies that will lead to exploitation of oil and gas in the 5 core Igbo states.

But I am sure once an Igbo president emerges in Nigeria or the nation of Biiafrra is established, all the reserves of Igboland will be opened up for investment.

Oil production is not in anyway a contribution to Nigeria as erroneously portrayed by ignoramus on this thread. Oil is a natural resource found in land and water but happens to be in territories inhabited by some communities with my own community having its share of oil.

In the real sense of it nobody owns Atlantic ocean either as a State or community hence oil found offshore does not count if we want to lay claims to its production in Southeast or Southwest. Those with the authentic information should subtract the volume of offshore production and reserve before coming out with the real figures.

There are over 100 oil wells and 3 installed flow stations in Abia State.[8][7] There is also an associated gas plant, Abia/NNPC gas plant.[8] As of 2012, boundary Commission said it returned 42 oil wells from neighbouring Rivers State to Abia.[8] This would have meant Abia being fourth largest oil producing state in the county.[8] Oil giant, Shell, holds most of the licenses for the wells in the State and has concentrated on the estimated 50 wells that are considered high-yield. However, the State has complained of poor funding from its oil revenue federal allocation. Our people are really suffering, and there are lots of projects we can still execute to alleviate their sufferings.[8]

Go and check about Nigerian power generation which relied mainly on gas plants and see how much Abia State contributes to national grid. Afam now in Revers State was split from Abia and forced to Rivers State, they are still crying to FG to merge them back to their kiths and kins in Abia. Are you aware that discoveries of oil is still in continuous process in Lagos?
Are you aware that Osun, Ekiti, Edo and Oyo produces cocoa which serves as the major revenue for the whole Nigeria before the discovery of Oil in the 60s.

and this is what many people from the SW and North plus some uninformed people of the SS do not know. these places are igbo territories. but because they are igbo land, they were carved into rivers state to people who claim that they are not igbos. I don't expect non igbos to believe the story because of tribalism, but I expect my igbo people to read about these things so that they would not be fooled about comments they make like igbos are doing attache by force. There is abundance of Oil in igbo land. Not that it has benefited us in any way but what is ours is ours. Please igbo people should read about injustices done to them. The hate is real.
